  1. Sovereignty is probably Dominion. They’re synonyms. And isn’t a bad thing. Dominion+Devotion would probably be Kingship, corresponding to the concept of Malchius. Odium is probably God’s Divine wrath (Judgement), and should be paired with Honor and Devotion/Mercy for Justice. Preservation is actually the enemy in Mistborn TFE, lol. Ruin, Preservation and Cultivation have been stated to create a stable triad, which makes sense. Endowment is Glory, Shechina Autonomy seems like it should correspond to Yichidus; God as the Singular, ironic considering how Autonomy has been shown. I’m not entirely certain what Ambition would correspond to.
  2. In terms of ‘Cosmere’ it’s Secret History, due it being the most accurately termed a Cosmere Novella. But in terms of the best Novella set in the Cosmere, I’d go with the Emperor’s Soul.
  3. Which version of Kell are we talking about? Because He’s also, along with Vasher, the most likely to survive a general melee. Fantasy Faction interview (April 24, 2014) #6 Fantasy Faction Finally, and most importantly, if all your protagonists had an epic all out brawl, who would win? Brandon Sanderson Some of them are immortal, but that would kind of be cheating. If you let people who are immortal participate, it's going to very much favor someone like Hoid, who is really, really, really hard to kill. Of course, he would not be very good at offing anyone either, because of certain things in his past. It would be really futile when it got down to the last two. But if we take that out. You'd have to set ground rules. Do they get access to their magic? Where is it taking place? If we take away all magic and we just say people are beating up on each other, who's going to win? It's probably Kelsier because he'll fight dirty. Vasher fights really dirty, too. If Kelsier and Vasher gang up on the rest, and then it depends who's still not in pieces at the end. It'd be Kelsier or Vasher probably.
  4. I’d use cooking Vodka (don’t drink!) and aluminum foil. If you don’t want to use an alcoholic beverage use... distilled alcohol. (DO NOT DRINK!!!) You should have that in your bathroom. Clear mouthwash can work too. Gold and Silver foil can be bought at most stores. You can also find actual gold, silver and copper sheets at many art stores and they don’t cost too much. I would not suggest eating it though.
  5. I agree. We’ll get a lot more hints in Shadesmar, possibly official confirmation of Scadrial, Nalthis and Taldain being planets outside the Rosharan system. This last would be near the end though. It isn’t until near the end of book 5 that we officially learn these are inhabited worlds from the other series, possibly with someone name dropping a title (likely Mistborn.) That’s also when we properly meet a world hopper (as in: ‘I’m not from Roshar. I’m from Planet X.’) This is a mystery that isn’t being answered until the end of book 5, but it is leading toward it.
  6. It would be the prelude to it. I think there was a WoB about POVs from Braize in book 5? I might be misremembering though. Basically, if Dalinar takes Jezrian’s place, the Fused start dying again and book 5 starts with that premise. This allows the first half to wrap up with the Desolation paused for now, quite possibly with Odium dead and someone else picking up the Shard. I don’t see Adolin dying because that makes the romance plot of book 3 kind of pointless? And Brandon doesn’t seem to like splitting up young lovers. If Adolin is killed, I suspect it will be a Ghostblood conspiracy, though. But right now he has a very important job: audience surrogate to discovering the Cosmere. Shallan has too many issues to serve in that role, but Adolin is perfect for it. It doesn’t occur to us because we are all familiar with the Cosmere, but to casual readers it’s an essential role. Other people likely to die: Hesina. Lirin’s death is not as interesting as the ‘nice’ parent dying. Mraize, but probably not until book 5. Original members of Bridge 4. Szeth, in book 5.
  7. I meant narrative death, where he is dead as far as the primary story (which takes place on Roshar) and the other characters are concerned. Which does parallel what happened to Kell, but more like when he was trapped in the Well than when he was wandering about actively involving himself in the plot.
  8. Right now he makes the most sense. Kal, Shallan, Szeth and Venli haven’t completed their arcs. Jasnah, Renarin and the Heralds we haven’t spent enough time with. Lift is obviously being set up for something more. So if anyone is going to die this book, it’s probably Dalinar, for a given definition of ‘dead’, seeing as he may have Ascended. But I do think he will have a narrative death. Maybe he’ll take Jezrian’s place in the Oathpact and next book he’ll be on Braize? Last book is anyone’s game.
  9. Kal isn’t going to die here, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Dalinar does. They’ve gotten used to him giving them unlimited Stormlight - what happens when he isn’t there to do it? Remember what Karl’s thinking in the early chapters? About how they’re risking their only Bondsmith? If that isn’t foreshadowing... There are other reasons too. Narratively, Dalinar finished his arc in book 3. Originally Brandon planned for Dalinar to have his book last, and kept hinting one book would be post-mortem. He could have meant this one, but it’s Venli’s book too. I think it was supposed to be Dalinar’s book; Dalinar does here and his backstory would have been revealed after. Obviously, that’s changed, but I think Dalinar still dies here.
  10. Clearly!
  11. I think the Ghostblood arc is intended to reveal the existence of other planets. It certainly seems to be headed that way, and Shallan will soon be headed to Shadesmar...
  12. Can you explain it to the pet store? They keep giving people the wrong gendered gerbils (usually discovered when two ‘males’ or two ‘females’ have babies... LOTS of babies.)
  13. It’s not so much that I don’t think it could work, as that I don’t see the two Spren being willing to bond a person bound to the other. Honorspren really seem to dislike Cryptics, for some reason. On a totally different trend, I’ve noticed that people who rank high as Skybreakers also rank high as Stonewards, and vice versa. It implies a similar mindset, which is quite interesting. Also, unless Windrunners tend to rank high as Stonewards UNLESS the Windrunner ranks high as a Willshaper. Willshapers and Lightweavers also tend to correlate for some reason. It’s pretty interesting. I have the different graphs on the fan stuff page, if you’d like to look.
  14. Masks seem to be part of their imagery though, and they make great spies. Which doesn’t mean they can’t be honorable, just that many Honorspren may not like the blurry lines.
  15. An honorable deceiver... I think it would require a pretty flexible Honorspren. Also worth noting the two types of Spren don't seem to like each other much. Other weird things I noticed: most people ending up Skybreakers second as Stonewards and vice versa. I wouldn’t have made the connection, but it does make sense. Also: Windrunners and Willshapers (but not the other way around.)
  16. So I was using the Knight Radiant quiz to double check my guesses on various AC characters Knightly Orders. Most were fairly typical, but then I got this: So now I’m wondering if the Lightweaver/Windrunner combination would actually be possible. (This was Shay Cormac’s quiz, btw.)
  17. Preservation didn’t choose to power Alomancy any more than other Shards choose their systems. Silver hurts Threnodite Shadows. We don’t know that it harms others.
  18. Kaladin would agree, but if this was pointed out would probably admit that it’s insulting to the non-combat personnel. And admit their duties are just as important. The issue is that he can’t see that when it comes to himself. Dalinar has always tried to be honest with Kaladin. I doubt he’s lying now, though Kal does feel that way. He just happens to be wrong, but the emotion is completely legitimate.
  19. It seems like Silver is the odd one out, considering it has an effect on Threnody, but not on Scadrial. The obvious question is are there are more metals like that; is Silver the one exception and if so why; does Silver have an unknown effect elsewhere in the Cosmere?
  20. I’d suggest Inspiration instead, as that would include ingenuity, innovation, imagination and creativity.
  21. Why do you assume he’s being lied to? Training is just as, if not more, important than being on the field, which was what Dalinar initially intended. Generals aren’t on the field, but their work is vital to the success of those who are. Same for intelligence agents, not to mention all the civilian positions without which the army would collapse. To suggest otherwise is rather insulting to everyone who isn’t in an active combat role.
  22. I thought those were obsidian glass?
  23. I want to draw a series of the various Assassins (and some Templars) as Radiants. The images would be of the Assassin (or Templar) with the Order symbol behind them and their Spren. Possibly with a unique oath or truth. So I need opinions on which Order they belong in. Yes, Orders can repeat. Altaiir - Skybreaker (I mean, he is the original Assassin in white...) This one isn’t changing. Maria - Windrunner Ezio - Edgedancer Yusuf - Windrunner Haytham - Elsecaller Connor - Stoneward Aveline - Lightweaver Edward - Willshaper Adewale - Windrunner Shay - Willshaper Liam - Skybreaker Arno - Windrunner Elise - Willshaper Jacob - Dustbringer Evie - Elsecaller Henry - Truthwatcher Lydia - ? Bayek - Skybreaker Aya - Edgedancer Kassandra - Dustbringer Darius - ? Jun - Edgedancer Arbaaz - ? Nikolei - Windrunner Aguilar - Windrunner Maria - ? Eivor - ? Desmond - Truthwatcher Lucy - Lightweaver Bonus: Which unmade does Alexios get? This is a rough sketch of Altair:
  24. Lol. I actually did a bait and switch deliberately in two different AC fanfics. One is a series of letters between Connor and Shay. During the letters Hamilton comes up, and it’s intentionally implied that they are more then friends. A much later letter reveals that Shay has semi-raised Hamilton and considers him a son. Rebecca, who was reading the letters, admits that she was way off on the relationship. The other, also involving Connor and Shay, has the two forming a kind of father-son type relationship for a bit. There are points where I intentionally do things that could be read as a ship tease... but definitely aren’t. That’s more aimed at stories that do ship them, because many fanfic writers would. So many people create subtext where it doesn’t exist that I decided to just go ahead with the subtext so I could subvert expectations.
  25. My FIL was dying at the time. The realization hit when I REALLY needed something to be happy about.
