  1. @Oversleep I know that in the USA Amazon operates on Eastern time, at least with regards to delivering preordered ebooks. (I.e. the book arrives at my Kindle at midnight Eastern time the morning of its release date, which is 10pm the night before in my local time since I'm 2 timeZones to the west.) But I would think that since Amazon has your shipping address, it would use your local time for purposes of shipping schedules. Plus if it meant 8pm Eastern time, that would be in the middle of the night/ridiculously early morning in Poland, and I doubt anyone's going to be delivering packages at that hour.
  2. @Quiver When you say you're not sure of fantasies with romance as a main plot thread, do you mean that you aren't aware of any good ones and you're hoping to find some from our recommendations or that you're hesitant to try romance/fantasies because they've been poorly executed in your experience? @TwiLyghtSansSparkles I am also curious about this question now.
  3. Dived into Rachel Aaron's third Heartstrikers book today. I'm about 30% in and have not been disappointed so far!
  4. I'm pretty sure @DSC01 is right about where Loki got the Mind Stone. I seem to recall that in the first Avengers movie (or possibly during the post-credits blurb) we hear Thanos berating some underling about Loki being incompetent, which would imply that Thanos put him up to trying to take over the Earth. Although that seems like a bit of an odd move for Thanos to entrust the Stone to someone else, given that he's trying to collect all the Infinity Stones.
  5. @Quiver Some of my favorite love stories are the Dragonsworn trilogy by Caitlyn McFarland (1st book is Soul of Smoke), Deborah Harkness's All Souls trilogy (beginning with A Discovery of Witches), and Amy Plum's Revenants series, beginning with Die for Me. They're all romance mixed with fantasy/adventure, but the love stories are part of the main plot in all three series. @Morzathoth The first one that comes to my mind is from a novel called Marrow by Preston Norton. The title character can change his bone density and uses the ability in some pretty creative ways.
  6. Spoilered for size.
  7. You know you're a Sanderfan when this idea makes you cringe because of how far Peter Jackson diverged from the book with the Hobbit movies.
  8. Ok then. WLIU name 9 European countries and their capitals.
  9. Well, "Bohemian Rhapsody" does have the most widely misheard lyrics, like, ever. I get really happy when I hear it alone in my car because I can sing along with it (or attempt to) without anyone judging my breaking voice on that one ridiculously high note. (You know the one I mean--"for MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!")
  10. That sounds like a nightmare, @Quiver. I'm so sorry you have to deal with that. I hope you can at least sleep it off when your shift is over?
  11. @Slowswift So are my answers satisfactory? The game seems to have stalled.
  12. @Slowswift I've been there once. It was a fun trip! I got to try my hand at walking on stilts, and we bought a Jacob's ladder as a souvenir. Plus we met a pair of sister missionaries and my parents got to talking family history with them and figured out that we were distant relatives, which was weird but awesome. Unfortunately all the photos we took with them were lost when some jerk stole my parents' camera bags from our car. They didn't get the cameras, though, just the film with the photos. (This was back in the days when everyone was still shooting on film.)
  13. Superchick's album "Beauty From Pain." One of my favorite albums--I never get tired of any of the songs.
  14. Haha. The summer after my freshman year of high school, I participated in a marching band fundraiser at a rest stop where I helped run a concession stand of sorts for all the travelers passing by. I was 14, but people kept asking me which college I went to. XD
  15. @Cognizantastic I love the expression on your face. And your shirt. And the pterosaur skull. You like awesome things. As for looking ridiculously young, I think it's preferable to look younger than your actual age than the opposite. (Although this might be a popular opinion only among adults. ) But if I had to guess from the picture you posted, I would guess you're somewhere around... 14 or 15?
  16. @Oversleep Great idea! I might have to go put that together once I get home to my PC with Photoshop.
  17. @Yata Younger people can be aunts and uncles too. I know a young lady my age (early 20s) who has several nieces and nephews.
  18. Yeah, I think today we should meet in the Wilk, given how many people we're expecting. @Jeffywan, I'll PM you my cell # so you can text me if needed.
  19. Sorry for the delay, everyone! Without further ado, I present Nice Dragons Finish Last by Rachel Aaron: I wrote this review in December 2014. Although the end of the review says there is no sequel yet, that was more than 18 months ago, and books 2 and 3 in the Heartstrikers series, One Good Dragon Deserves Another and No Good Dragon Goes Unpunished, have been released since then.
  20. @little wilson, his profile says he hasn't been online since July 13, so I think chances are he doesn't know when we've planned to meet. But I thought of something else relevant: we usually make sure to have cheese pizza available for Slowswift since he's vegetarian, but he won't be here this month. Is everyone else okay with pepperoni? I can take care of the pizza tomorrow, as long as I have an answer to the pepperoni/cheese question by about 6:30 pm.
  21. @Wychmire That's a tie-in to her Wings of Fire series, right? I need to catch up on those.
  22. @DSC01 I have never even heard of Worm, so no. Hint: when I said the girl resists becoming a true monster, my choice of the word monster was very deliberate. Hint 2: the names of the girl and her main love interest start with A and Z. (Not telling which is which for now, though.)
  23. @Delightful Not to mention that regardless of how attractive you think someone is or which races/ethnicities you find visually pleasing, saying that to someone defies all conventions of politeness.
  24. I think I just used up half my daily upvote quota on y'all's awesome topic title ideas. ;P
  25. Finished the 3rd and final book in the Arkwell Academy series and had a hard time holding back tears during the last few chapters because the ending was bittersweet. It has earned a spot on my Favorites shelf on GoodReads. Soon I'll finally be starting League of Dragons, the final book in Naomi Novik's Temeraire series. Super excited for that!
