  1. People who use "breath" as a verb. A person can breathe or take a breath but they cannot breath.
  2. I'm just pleased to have achieved the rank of King's Wit.
  3. @Quiver *jaw drops* That video is AMAZING.
  4. I have also updated the OP with links to my reviews of the second and third books in the Immortal Rules series, for anyone who has already read the first one.
  5. Nope. I live in Utah right now. The place closest to the description "hillbilly paradise" that I've ever lived would have to be the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. But based on what I see in the news, it seems like a large portion of Americans are ashamed to be American these days.
  6. @Kestrel Aww, Beaker's adorable. I love hearing Barred Owls in the wild--their "Who-cooks-for-you?" call is thrilling! Does Beaker have an injury that would keep him from surviving in the wild?
  7. It would, if anyone in America these days were patriotic enough to want to become a vigilante for it.
  8. To make sure @Delightful doesn't get skipped: Delightful, you are a kind and thoughtful person who always has something intelligent to say. Elenion, you made me laugh with the mental image of 1000 books lying around in a parking garage.
  9. "Did the Amazon truck with my book shipment crash in here, spill its cargo, and then evaporate??"
  10. At least violating the flag code can't make you bankrupt or land you in prison...
  11. @I_am_a_Stick Your drawings of the characters are HILARIOUS.
  12. Finished reading an interesting (that's probably the wrong word) book today--I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga. I think GoodReads recommended it to me based on my interest in the John Cleaver books, and there were certainly plenty of moments when it reminded me of those. The violence in this book didn't make me as squeamish as I Am Not a Serial Killer did on my first read, but I think I Hunt Killers was more disturbing on a psychological level... What does it say about me that I intend to continue with the series? I'm also beginning a re-read of The Vampire Files series by PN Elrod.
  13. Their menu board has a list of all the available toppings, and you just tell them which ones you want when you order. Other than patties, cheese, and bacon, you can get as many or as few as you want for no extra cost. I like that because most places that serve burgers have a bunch of predetermined combinations of toppings, and oftentimes none of them are exactly what I want.
  14. Not only is your username wonderfully oxymoronic, but you always have funny or interesting things to say.
  15. Huh. I didn't know that. Sunbird has gained +1 American flag knowledge!
  16. @Slowswift I'm betting it's because the flag is usually in a landscape orientation but they had to use portrait orientation to make it fit on the shirt. If you rotate your head clockwise 90 degrees, the stars are in the correct spot.
  17. Ditto what @Elenion said. My mom worked as a retail pharmacy tech for a while and told me about all the chullhat customers she had to deal with, so I make an effort to always be pleasant and patient with pharmacy employees, waiters/waitresses, librarians, customer service reps on the phone, and basically anyone whose job is some kind of service position.
  18. 1. Klingon 2. Elvish 3. Na'vi 4. Dothraki 5. Goa'uld (Stargate SG-1) 6. Ancient (Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis)
  19. My favorite place to go for burgers is Five Guys, mostly because I get to custom build my burger. And their fries are pretty fabulous too. Not to mention that the one by my house sells milkshakes now!
  20. It wouldn't happen to be Darren Shan's Cirque du Freak series, would it? (AKA The Saga of Darren Shan)
  21. D'awwww, what kind of hawk is he? Red-tailed? Those seem to be the most common across the USA. (They're certainly the kind I see most often!)
  22. Prohibition
  23. I'm pretty sure that all of Slowswift's capitals are right, but I will add a few of my own: 8. Juneau, Alaska 9. Santa Fe, New Mexico 10. Honolulu, Hawaii (Is this one over the date line? It's the only one that I think might be.) 11. Topeka, Kansas 12. St Louis, Missouri? (This state fits the geographical requirements, but I'm not 100% certain of the capital.) 13. Des Moines, Iowa 14. Little Rock, Arkansas
  24. I didn't make this one; it was created and voted on by GoodReads at large, but it seems relevant to this question: Best Epic Fantasy.
