  1. @Darkness Ascendant This thread has been dead for so long I think I can be forgiven for not remembering every single joke that was posted before the hiatus. What do you do with a sick chemist? A: If you can't curium and you can't helium, you'd better barium.
  2. @AnanasSpren I believe I know one phrase already: "FUS RO DAH!"
  3. Heh. We must all seem utterly crazy to you then. XD
  4. @thegatorgirl00 Very good! Your turn to post a clue
  5. Wait @mattig89ch you say you're not usually into fantasy books, yet you're here on the official fansite of Brandon Sanderson, one of today's premier fantasy authors. Is Brandon just the exception for you then? And to stay on topic, I recently bought hardcopies of Caitlyn McFarland's Dragonsworn trilogy so I can get them signed if ever I get the chance to meet her.
  6. An alien invader learns to love humans after living in one's head. Hopefully this one is more well known.
  7. Mahatma Gandhi was a peculiar person. He walked barefoot everywhere, to the point that his feet became quite thick and hard. He often went on hunger strikes, and even when he wasn't on a hunger strike, he did not eat much and became quite thin and frail. He also was a very spiritual person. Finally, because he didn't eat much and when he did his diet was peculiar, he developed very bad breath. He became known as a super-callused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis. *cue groans from everyone*
  8. I'm going to assume by the deafening silence that y'all are tired of trying to guess mine, so here is the answer: the Blood of Eden trilogy by Julie Kagawa.
  9. @Ianricks58 Ok yeah, looks like you're right about the address. I was looking at the entry in my phone's contacts, and I guess I typed in the building number wrong. And I have been there before so I can confirm that Google Maps has it in the right place by the surroundings.
  10. @Renoux ALL THE TIME when I'm driving!
  11. @Oversleep I know, right? I just couldn't resist making a PhelpsFace meme, and that caption seemed like one most Sharders would relate to.
  12. @I_am_a_Stick got it.
  13. @Oversleep Just a general meme, since it's already happened several times and I'm sure nobody here wants it to happen again.
  14. Haha. That's a good guess, but not what I had in mind.
  15. Ok, sorry for the delay in posting a new one. Two siblings get dumped unprepared in a hidden magical death safari so their parents can go on a cruise.
  16. True story: I put a note in my university's suggestion box that said, "My suggestion is to rename the suggestion box to the Johann Suggestion Bachs because the world needs more music puns." For programmers: 99 bugs in the code, 99 bugs in the code! Break it down, fix it around... 117 bugs in the code!
  17. FYI Brandon's Upcoming Events page has the wrong address and phone # for the King's English Bookstore. The correct address is 511 South 1500 East in Salt Lake and the correct phone # is 801-484-9100.
  18. More good news! 1. Yesterday I won a free autographed copy of J Scott Savage's next book (unreleased at this point), Gears of Revolution, by solving a riddle he posted on his Facebook. 2. I'm winning my war against the spider army that's invading my basement. I captured the massive wolf spider that almost skittered across my bare feet yesterday morning (scaring me half to death in the process, I might add) and flushed that slontze down the toilet.
  19. Yeah, well, Hollywood is not exactly known for producing faithful movie adaptations of books. Not to say that good ones don't exist--just that most of the time they take "creative license" farther than lots of the book's fans are okay with.
  20. I think I remember this conversation. In other news, are any of y'all interested in doing a book-exchange-by-mail? One of my Facebook friends invited me to participate, so I joined, but in order to keep it going I need to recruit a few more people, and all my Facebook friends are uninterested.
  21. @TwiLyghtSansSparkles Maybe try the phrase "history of the KKK in Spokane" instead? That sounds a little less sinister IMO.
  22. Re: LOTR, I was just disappointed when Boromir's famous line "One does not simply walk into Mordor" wasn't in the books. XD
  23. @DSC01 OH I KNOW. It's A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab, isn't it?
  24. @Assassin in Burgundy Nope, sorry. That has 4 books. What do you all think? Did I pick something too difficult or that nobody has read? Do you want me to just post the answer so we can move on?
