I think now my brain is trying to make up for a week of weird dreams by producing extraordinarily mundane dreams. Last night I dreamed that I was making toast for breakfast like I do every day, and when the toast popped up, the toaster spat it out so forcefully that it flew into the trash can.

Like two years ago, I managed to trip over a sign that was foolishly placed in the middle of the sidewalk--a sign basically like this one: My knee landed badly on one of the sign's feet and got gashed open rather severely. I was alone, so I hobbled my way across the street to a mental health clinic and asked to borrow their first aid kit so I could clean myself up in the bathroom a little before driving home to take care of it more thoroughly. The thing that stressed me out the most about this incident, though, was not the actual injury. No, what upset me was the fact that I now had blood all over my TARDIS socks and I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to wash it out.

Does this have anything to do with Cards Against Humanity? (That's the only card game I can think of that qualifies as "offensive.")

@Morzathoth Yeah it's definitely a different experience, but I find it very fun all the same. I also owe a lot of my current taste in music to those games... Rock Band made me aware that I liked songs by classic rock bands that were never really on my mental radar before.

@Kaymyth Yup. It's aimed at a younger audience than the other RB games with more kid-friendly songs and the inability to completely fail out of a song if you miss too many notes. @TwiLyghtSansSparkles Vocals is the only RB "instrument" you can really pick up and be good at right away if you've never played before. Believe me, everybody starts out bad at the others, even ppl who can play real guitar or a real drumset. Every time I've watched real drummers try the game drums the first time, they pound the crem out of the controller and it slows them down. Plus the game display doesn't use sheet music so new players have to get used to reading music in a different format. It kinda levels the playing field. After several years of practice, I've gotten really good at the drums and pretty competent at the guitar, even though I had no experience on either of the real instruments when I started playing the game.

@Cognizantastic There are plenty of worse things to look like when someone candidly takes your photo. I'm not very photogenic even when I'm ready for the picture.

When you see the magazine title "Global Volcanism Network" and have to do a double take after reading it as "Global Vorinism Network."

I just listened to "Famous Last Words" (the song) for the first time and it pleases me. I was already familiar with "Check Yes Juliet" because it's on Lego Rock Band. XD

Writing a Stormlight book is also a huge undertaking because each book is like 1000+ pages long. All that text has to be checked for continuity and grammar/punctuation and formatted properly for the print edition or ebook. And that can only happen after the alpha and beta readers have read through it and given their feedback and Brandon has done edits/revisions having to do with major issues like character development and the plot. Keep in mind that he's setting up plot elements in these earlier books that will be a big deal in later books, even if we readers can't see the "big picture" yet.

Hahahaha. I wear a lot of funny/cute/geeky T-shirts, so I often get "I like your shirt" comments from random people. Now every time that happens, I'm going to be reminded of this. XD

I missed the Hands of Blue one because...well...I haven't actually watched Firefly. *hangs head in shame* So I only got the more obvious references. The ones I caught were 1) in the Halloween episode where Castle's costume was a "space cowboy", 2) Castle speaks Chinese competently to some workers in a Chinese restaurant and says he learned it from a TV show when asked, and 3) in the episode where the murder takes place at a scifi convention, Castle says he loved "that Joss Whedon thing."

@Delightful That house quiz makes me very happy, although I don't think it sorted me right. (I got Laxdisick, where beer pong is apparently mandatory.)

I'm gradually trudging my way through Contact by Carl Sagan. I seem to remember the movie being much more interesting...

@Ammanas My aunt and uncle introduced me to Castle and I quite like it mostly because Nathan Fillion is hilarious. Have you caught any of the references to Firefly? I remember at least 2, plus someone said there's a model of the ship Serenity in Castle's office. I'm like a season behind right now though.

@Kaymyth WOOOO! Did you also hear that one of her songs is going to be featured in a Disney movie? The song hasn't been released yet, and I can't even remember what the movie is called either. XD

I don't appear to have anything special scheduled for the week of August 1-5, so I should be fine for any of those days.

I don't personally play it, but I've seen it taking over the Internet and of course had to meme about it...

I don't think my subconscious understands how physical combat works. Like, at all. Whenever I feel endangered in my dreams (or just really angry with someone), my reaction is almost always either to slap them in the face or bite them.
