  1. So I just went through my GoodReads to tally these up, and here are my results: 1. Brandon Sanderson with 29 novels/novellas. In this count I'm including Secret History and Edgedancer as their own things but excluding Arcanum Unbounded. (I haven't read any WoT.) 2. Rick Riordan with 25 novels/short stories. Basically all his mythology-based MG/YA stuff, and a couple of the 39 Clues books. 3. Jim Butcher with 24 books. (15 mainline Dresden Files + 1 short story collection, 6 Codex Alera, 1 Aeronaut's Windlass, and 1 Spider-Man novel) In this tally I excluded AK Applegate's Animorphs series because lots of those were ghostwritten, but they would have blown the others out of the water with 50+ books. XD
  2. @Rebecca A World Without Heroes is one of my favorite series openers ever. The end of book 1 will blow your mind.
  3. Utahraptor is me. Take care of your personal grooming at home or in the bathroom, people! Ugh.
  4. @Calderis I meant "so many books" more in a general sense than with regards to Butcher's books specifically.
  5. So many books, so little time... XD
  6. Totally agree! IMO it's the best thing Jim Butcher has written to date.
  7. That's an excellent find! Looks like it's a hardcover in great condition too. =)
  8. @Jondesu That fashion choice was my younger brother's favorite outfit in high school and I (and pretty much everyone else) thought it looked great.
  9. @A Budgie "Using the Stormlight Archive boxset as a weapon" is my favorite one yet!
  10. D= That Curiosity comic is so sad! Here, nature photos to lighten the mood. First, a game of Where's Waldo? Spot the birb if you can. Click the spoiler for a closer look at the camouflaged birb: Hairy Woodpecker (1 photo): Butterflies high up in the mountains (2 photos): Adorable (but very noisy!) chipmunk (1 photo):
  11. @Draginon I'm an American and I think of Robin as mainly a girl's name. (Someone in my church congregation is named Robin and it's a woman.) But I can also accept it as a male name, mostly because of Batman's sidekick.
  12. Pledged. I really hope this venture succeeds!!
  13. You can bet I'll be pledging! This is SO STORMING COOL.
  14. For having great fashion sense and looking very spiffy in vests!
  15. When you see this comic strip (which has been posted many times on the meme thread) and correct it so it more accurately reflects the workings of the Cosmere:
  16. @Calderis "Poking holes in the air" made me laugh SO HARD.
  17. @Flash I have a pretty similar reaction when I hear of people being afraid of moths. I can't think of any kind of moth that can hurt you, and some of them don't even eat for the rest of their lives once they come out of the cocoon. What really makes no sense is that most people I've met who have moth phobias aren't the least bit bothered by butterflies. So moths are sometimes fuzzy and usually fly at night. Why does that make them any scarier than butterflies?
  18. For organizing frequent games of Cards Against Humanity.
  19. PSA: If you pay attention, you never know what fun things you might find outside! Case in point: I found a family of California Quail in a flower bed on BYU campus this morning, and I never would've known they were there if I hadn't heard the babies peeping and taken the time to look for the source of the sound. Everybody else walked right by, completely unaware, except for one guy who thought I was taking pictures of the flowers until I pointed the quail out to him. (5 photos in the spoiler)
  20. For making me do a double take every time I read your name.
  21. For contributing lots of awesomeness to the "You know you're a Sanderfan when" thread.
  22. Just popping in to add that in some cultures, owls are seen as omens of death and bad luck.
  23. I watched for about 30 minutes from BYU campus, where the peak reached roughly 90% of totality. It was super cool! My department at the library received several sets of free eclipse glasses from one of the sciencey journals we subscribe to, so my failure to find my own pair I could've sworn I had lying around didn't keep me from getting a good look. I took a photo with my cell phone through the glasses and will be posting it later when I have the chance.
  24. GRRM is short for the fantasy author George R. R. Martin, who wrote the book series that Game of Thrones is based on.
  25. @AngelEy3 I have a couple more raven pictures for you. The lighting was really harsh when I took these, so I decided to just roll with it and put a black-and-white filter on the photos to accentuate the stark contrast between the black bird and the bright sky. They don't actually look all that different from the originals. XD
