  1. Life of Pi was definitely one of the weirder novels I've read, but there was another one that my high school English teacher suggested by Ray Bradbury that I remember finding rather baffling... I'm having a hard time remembering the title atm. Edit: the Bradbury book was called From the Dust Returned. (Thank Stormfather for GoodReads!)
  2. FINALLY finished sorting through all my photos from Antelope Island. This post will only have pictures of birds, but I have some more of insects and the scenery if y'all are interested. I just figure this post is image-heavy enough already. @AngelEy3, this Common Raven is for you. Sorry it's so far away! (1 photo) A few seagulls (3 photos): Great Horned Owls (2 photos): Loggerhead Shrikes (2 photos): Assorted shorebirds (3 photos): Northern Mockingbird and Lark Sparrow (2 photos):
  3. I'm still sorting through the 300+ photos I took last Monday on my birdwatching trip, but here are a few more--Barn Swallows nesting at the Antelope Island visitor center. =) (5 photos in the spoiler)
  4. This pleases me greatly. Here are some of my own: Steelheart = Alloyed Iron Core Alcatraz vs the Shattered Lens = Island Sues the Broken Monocle
  5. Finished my re-read of WoK tonight. Next on the list is A Dragon of a Different Color, the latest book in Rachel Aaron's Heartstrikers series! I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS.
  6. I'm so glad you found her! *hugs* I had a similar scare with one of my kitties recently after our front door got left open for like an hour, but she came out from her hiding place after I called her for a few minutes. I was so relieved.
  7. I agree that the Transformers movies are little more than explosion eye-candy and the franchise needs to die already. I am disgusted, but not really shocked, by the success of 50 Shades of Grey. In my opinion, the John Carter movie should have been much more successful than it was because it's a quality film. I think its box office failure was a combination of sinking too much money into making the project and the marketing team fumbling the advertising/promotion campaign so that they didn't generate enough hype for it.
  8. *all the hugs* Praying for you to find your lost kitty.
  9. It'S always like this during the weekend.
  10. @Calderis *all the hugs* I'm crying right along with you, man.
  11. Oh @Calderis I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty! I know how much it hurts to lose a pet, and that she is still young makes it especially painful. Please don't beat yourself up over the ibuprofen though. It could have happened to anyone, and it was completely an accident that you couldn't have predicted. *hugs* I know it's not much, but you may find some comfort in the poem "The Rainbow Bridge." I believe I've previously posted it to this thread, or you can find it via a quick Google search. *more hugs*
  12. When you have a dream about covertly gathering knobweed.
  13. I wish I could upvote this more than once! I have a special place in my heart for sonnets.
  14. @The Honor Spren My thoughts exactly!
  15. @Draginon Parts of Utah are flat desert, but other parts are quite mountainous. For example, I can look east or west from my house and see mountains in either direction. (The eastern ones are closer than the western ones, though.)
  16. I had a great day at Antelope Island yesterday. Found some cool shorebirds and got a few decent photos of a pair of Great Horned Owls! I'm still sorting through the 300+ pictures I took, but here's one of an owl for now.
  17. @Darkness Ascendant That's fantastic!!
  18. Some screenshots from tonight: @FeatherWriter This one's for you:
  19. BWAHAHAHAHA I have finally become a Mistborn! *dons Mistcloak and leaps off the roof*
  20. People topping off at the gas (petrol) station when there are warnings all over the pump NOT to do that. Great way to spill and waste gasoline.
  21. Congratulations, @Jondesu!! He's adorable.
  22. You know you're a Sanderfan when you see an ad for a book called A Pattern of Lies and immediately think of Shallan's spren.
  23. @Pagerunner My first thought upon reading that strip was Percy Jackson's sword, Riptide.
