If I recall correctly, some time ago (when the AU having essays was announced), Brandon said that we would find Sixth of the Dusk essay interesting because it's written long before the Ones Above visited the First of the Sun, or something along those lines. At any rate, the meaning was that at least this one essay was written quite a while before the events of the story.

A theory about Yolen and the 4th Era of Mistborn
Rasarr replied to Rasarr's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Just one thing to note here - we don't really know Frost. We know that some people who were good guys in other books are his "friends from the Seventeenth Shard", but we don't actually know what Frost's allegiances are. For all we know, he might be a villain who's better than most at hiding it, so the fact that he sees Adonalsium's plan as a good one doesn't mean we'd see it in the same way if we knew about it. As a side note, I admit I don't believe Adonalsium was going to destroy mankind or anything of the like; my personal idea is that he simply didn't act against fain for long enough to prompt the entire "kill the god and steal his power" quest. -
Even the wikia doesn't remember Murkwood. Who was that, anyway? I can't remember either. Heal Conflux, hurt Regalia. 3. Firefight--18 5. Limelight--7 6. Conflux--13 9. Obliteration—5 10. Regalia--7

A theory about Yolen and the 4th Era of Mistborn
Rasarr replied to Rasarr's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Good point with Yolen being hidden, not blocked. So, version 1.3 of this theory: Yolen has been hidden by Shards to quarantine it and stop fain from spreading, but some beings (such as Shards, Hoid and Frost) know how to find it, leaving a communication channel between those who left and those who remained open. The quarantine doesn't need to stop them from coming, as they know it's a bad idea, it only has to stop other, less fain-aware worldhoppers from finding their way here. Which still leaves Yolen open from the Physical side of things. As an aside, I wonder how Yolen was "hidden". The CogRealm seems to be a giant flat plain for the most part, perhaps they moved Yolen beneath that "ground level"? -
A theory about Yolen and the 4th Era of Mistborn
Rasarr replied to Rasarr's topic in Cosmere Discussion
@Pagerunner, @Yata, thanks for that reminder. I have to admit, I forgot that Frost was on Yolen, so I guess my theory needs a small revision. It's quite likely that there are still some people (and a dragon) living on Yolen. I assumed it's uninhabited because fain in Liar of Partinel was slowly encroaching on human settlements, meaning there was less and less food every year, but I suppose some small community of people (and a dragon) could still live there. As for how Yolen can be cut off from the galaxy and yet Hoid has a pen pal there, I honestly have no idea. Maybe they communicate by something along the lines of super-sophisticated spanreed, but that's going deep into tinfoil hat territory. -
First of all, I don't have Arcanum Unbounded yet, so if there's anything pertaining to this topic in there that wasn't in the publicly available excerpts, I don't know it. Alright, so we know that something bad happened to Yolen, which made all humans who survived it relocate elsewhere and all Shards to go away as well. We also know that Yolen is not reachable through the Cognitive Realm. I think that this has less to do with Adonalsium shattering (though that's certainly a factor), and more with something called fain. Now, for those who didn't read the Liar of Partinel excerpt that Brandon has published on his website (LoP was his unpublished novel about Hoid's origins), fain was a sort-of infection/parasite that turned everything white and inedible to both humans and animals while "Corrupting" living things. The excerpt doesn't really specify what Corruption does, but it's bad enough that one character considers killing children rather than banishing them into fainlands. Of course, Liar of Partinel hasn't been published and isn't really canon in its current form, but in the Google Play excerpt of Arcanum Unbounded (well, I suppose it's in the full version of AU as well), Khriss makes a reference to fain on Yolen, which means that it does exist in canon and presumably has similar corruptive properties. So what if everyone on Yolen decided to abandon ship because fain was overrunning everything? I don't really want to go into the topic of a potential connection between Adonalsium's shattering and fain here, but I have the following theory: the surviving people of Yolen left their homeworld to run away from fain, and the Shards did something in the Cognitive to stop anything from coming to or leaving the planet to prevent some adventurous worldhopper from accidentally bringing fain with them and starting the cycle all over again elsewhere. In other worlds, Yolen has been quarantained. How does that pertain to Mistborn Era 4, though? Well, in this era, the people of Scadrial will have faster-than-light travel. Imagine if it was FTL travel that does not require jumping into the Cognitive Realm. With technology like this, Shards' quarantaine of Yolen would have all the stopping power of tissue paper, which means that some FTL-capable ship could either stumble upon it or deliberately travel there. So imagine this happens. They go to the planet's surface to investigate, find nothing worth seeing - or worse yet, find fain life and decide to take samples - get back on their ship and go on their merry way... with an unwanted extra passenger on board. Then they reach an inhabited planet, go to visit the surface and thus fain spreads again. In conclusion: I think fain and fain-corrupted creatures will be the primary antagonist of the final Mistborn trilogy.

Theoretically speaking, shouldn't Calamity's death unpower everybody on this list except Limelight, Firefight and Conflux? Granted, I've read the books a while ago, but I'm fairly certain that all the Epics who didn't face their fears were dependent on Calamity with their powers... Hm. I can't remember. Regardless, heal Conflux, hurt Fortuity. 1. Steelheart—6 3. Firefight—12 4. Murkwood—4 5. Limelight—6 6. Conflux—8 8. Fortuity—1 9. Obliteration—4 10. Regalia—9

My personal bet is on Taravangian. Honor said to appoint a champion, but I don't think he's mentioned anything about the champions having to duke it out mano a mano. And even if so, I'm pretty sure Odium is in position to bond Mr T with some voidspren. I admit, I still don't believe this would be enough for Adolin to do a total shift from "I will do anything to protect my family, even though they seem pretty capable of protecting themselves" to "I hate my family and their stupid superpowers". And again, the fact that he already gave in to anger might curb his tendencies towards Odium somewhat.
-
I admit I disagree with the theory. For one, have we ever actually seen Adolin being envious of someone or something? Not really. At contrary, he's been shown as extremely devoted to his family (to the point of murdering Sadeas), and caring of Shallan. Granted, at the end of WoR he's still reeling from the revelation that his girlfriend is a Radiant, but note that he's not envious - he just feels this culture shock of sorts brought about by suddenly finding himself a few rungs lower on the social ladder. Given how much he cares for people close to him, I doubt he'd turn against them, at least not without his character doing a veritable 180 turn. With his turn to anger, we have to remember that not every flash of anger is a sign that you're beginning to fall to Odium. Kaladin spent a lot of WoK angry at lighteyes and managed to bond a honorspren; he also spent a large chunk of WoR angry at lighteyes, and while this almost dis-Radianted him, he wasn't exactly becoming Odium's champion. Think also about how Adolin is shaken by what he did to Sadeas - I don't think he's very likely to let anger take him over the same way again. The spectre of Sadeas, to put it poetically, will be hanging over him. And last but not least, I would say that him reviving his Shardblade is foreshadowed much more heavily than his fall to Odium is. You've got his Shardblade very explicitely confirmed as belonging to a specific order; his habit of talking to the Blade; him never naming the Blade because it has a name of its own; Adolin being suddenly de-Thrilled in the Narak battle. This might be just my preference, but I think that "Adolin becomes a Radiant with his Shardblade" plot is more likely than the "Adolin becomes Odium's champion" one.

@maxal, I'll just drop this here: Trust me, I understand your frustration. But this is somewhat heartening.

@WayneSpren, you can vote for Preservation to preserve its Intent and help it preserve itself throughout the game. Also, at least we're certain Fuzz wasn't engaging in anything dodgy (unless you consider helping a certain someone to be dodgy). With Tanavast, we still don't know. I admit I'm more in favour of a draw, considering what Shards we're dealing with, but I guess it's either Hurt 2/Heal 1 or another ten pages of the game, so if a draw isn't an option, I'm fine with it. Heal Preservation, hurt Honor. 3. Preservation: 27 6. Honor: 23

Heal Preservation, hurt Honor. 3. Preservation: 27 6. Honor: 23 I find it oddly funny that the two Shards that survived to the very end are the two that are very notable for their deadness.

Heal Preservation, hurt Ruin. 3. Preservation: 24 4. Ruin: 4 6. Honor: 22 Seems like the deathmatch will be between two most non-violent Shards... I'm seeing the appeal of @Stark's proposition.
