  1. BLUF: Technically - yes; Practically, not really. We have these WoBs, tangential to the question: So, the implication is that, yes, (Stormight Archive Spoilers): - the Shard is still "infinite" but also "reduced" in available power (though it could reclaim the apportioned splinter of infinity). But "Infinity-1" is still Infinite. . . Hope that helps
  2. Copy all. My only real point was if the question is "When characters die and pass into the Beyond, what do you believe happens to them?" Your three provided poll answers are likley to result in a lot of "none of the above" answers - because the three possible poll options you provided are very limited in their interpretations of known story scenes (such as Kelsier/Vin/Elend scene in M:SH).
  3. The trustwarren wasn't the only part of that process that hid part of Ruin's power - it was because Leras tied part of Ruin to the Pits of Hathsin (which resulted in Era 1 Atium, which is not pure because it has been combined with Electrum in the Geodes) - so that part of Ruin's pwer was in a different investiture cycle preventing it from returning to Ruin in the Spiritual Realm. The trustwarren simply made an additional limit of how much of that power was cycling through the Pits (and therefore returned to Ruin with the Pits were destroyed).
  4. That was also explained in the same Ars Arcanum, though - Ruin (Ati) was pushing to make Hemalurgy "more" (to facilitate his control of puppets, most likely) in Era 1 than it should have been - so it's less that Sazed restricted it, as he restored the original capacity from before Ruin tried to leverage it as a method of escape and destruction. . .
  5. But this didn't seem to be one of your three either, since both 1 and 2 were "go Beyond" without staying behind if invested enough. . . Hence the second of the variables I mentioned.
  6. I see more than Three Possibilities. Plus/Minus (±) reuniting with anyone ± Staying or going ± Influence from Beyond ± Positive and Negative Karma in the beyond Possible tertiary on this selector of Neutral (like Greek Plains of Asphodel - where neither positive nor negative afterlife) Those four variables alone make 16 to 24 possibilites in their various configurations. But Brandon has said we'll never have this answer, officially.
  7. Considering that Preservation is imbalanced because every sapient on Scadrial has part of Preservation in them, it seems very unlikely that the tiny amount produced by this reaction would have any effect on the balance between Ruin and Preservation. You would need to recover as much Lerasium as was used in the popultation of the planet. Annotation to HoA Ch 70: Balance would not be about boosting the amount of Preservation, but rather about bleeding off the extra Ruin. WoB: Hope that helps
  8. Cosmere Discussion Theories and discussino belong in the discussion forums. the Q&A forum is for asking specific questiosn so that the answer can be marked as such (to make it easier for new Sharders to search for answers to their questions). You posted to: You should have posted to: For more information and other tips, please see the Sharder FAQ. Hope that helps
  9. My problem is timing. At the risk of hubris, I will quote what I posted in the other language thread (Cosmere Section of Spoiler Zone):
  10. If it is a re-read, have you considered going for an Integrated Re-read (Assuming Era 2 and M:SH are also previously read)?
  11. I can see that. Vivenna still is not my favorite viewpoint in the book, and I didn't enjoy her sections until the third or fourth reading of the book when I started to realize how well characterization was shown in her sections (even if the characterization is not heroic). I do not see how you get to that conclusion from that scene. At no point does Vasher say or imply she was taken advantage of (it's actually the opposite when he explains it a few paragraphs later) - she asked the question assuming the worst. He responded in anger, which is not acceptable (as you said) but does give insight into his character and faults. It is a very in-character response and highlights why he considers himself bad with people (he is). From a IRL perspective, should that kind of response be tolerated - no. From a storytelling perspective, does it highlight Vasher's faults and problems - yes. I'm not saying you should change your opinion - your feelings are your own. I'm explaining why I do not agree so that others reading the thread can see both sides of the discussion. Hope that helps
  12. If you have not yet done so, consider reading the Annotations - they explain why Sanderson made some decisions he did (or did not) - he fully expected Vivenna to be the least-favored of the Warbreaker Main Characters (much like certain Viewpoint Characters in Elantris). Annotations to Ch 43: As far as that specific line - keep in mind the PoV for both characters at this stage. Vasher has no reason to not believe that Vivenna wasn't a willing conspirator to Denth's warmongering (and he admitedly has temper issues) and Vivenna has not yet even begun to deal with what her time on the streets has done to her - so she has already accostomed to just assuming the worst from the start. I found the scene extremely powerful for how quickly and succinctly it portrays those two states of mind right at the beginning of the chapter. Hope that helps
  13. Please note that this is not the correct forum for that question. Every forum is clearly labelled on the main page: This belongs in: Please see the Sharder FAQ for tips and info. Please see the Coppermind: Publishing Order In World Chronology Alternately, in case those were not what you were asking - please see one of the many Reading Order Recommendation threads (search "Reading order" with "all terms" checked and limit the search to the Cosmere section, and that should find many additional threads on the topic) Hope that helps

Odium is Gold, not Red (Red is the color of corrupted investiture regardless of source, such as the red smoke from a Essence Stamp - which is entirely Dor, with no Odium involved at all). Note: Corrupted, in this sense is any change from the investiture's normal Intent - not an indication of morality or ethics.
  15. Have you read or are you reading AoN? Unpublished material should be kept in the Sanderson Curiosities section, when possible. That said, RAFO. Your question is an important plot point so I'll spoiler it so you can decide if you want to spoil the story or not. Hope that helps
  16. I would start with the Coppermind - as it has most of the information, with links to the references. https://coppermind.net/wiki/Hierocracy Timeline WoP: Hope that helps
  17. Vivenna is unlikely to be 22 during Warbreaker, and is very likley to be much older by the time she is known as Azure on Roshar. All we know for certain is that Siri was 17 at the beginning of Warbreaker and she was the fourth Child, making Vivenna at least 20 years old, and it has been centuries (at current timeline - we expect a final timeline before SA6) since Warbreaker before WoK so she had 5th heightening or some other Agelesness at some point. Hope that helps

    Lashings

I'm so sorry the notional example included a spoiler (Moash does not have Lashings - he's not a Windrunner). I've fixed my post but recognize it is too late for the spoiler part of the notional example. For some reason I thought your post said end of Oathbringer when it was early Oathbringer.
  19. Technically, we don't know who stole it, only that she ended up Bearing it by the time of WaT.
  20. Roshar was constructed based on the Julia Set:
  21. I believe that line is about the Dawnshards - the two we know (Change, Exist) could easliy be descibed as Aspects. It seems, to me, that affiliation with a color and number is an aspect of the Shards because of the Shattering (all being pieces that were formally whole - like light through a Prism, once split into different EM bands - each part is only a fraction of what it once was when all combined) - which implies that Adonalsium itself is unlikely to have a color or a number - it was combined, whole and balanced (in theory) not merely an amalgamation of the sum of the parts.

"Down" is, very rarely, actually aligned to the Core of the Planet, so it would probably come down to Intent and the context of the situation. For example, in the OB scene with Moash (spoilers)
  23. Interesting theory. I do not think the reveal means that Roshar originally had four moons. Possible, of course, but also possible there was 1 moon that, when Adonalsium was shattered, was also destroyed. Then as Honor and Cultivation arrived, so too did the moons associated with them (and their colour) - ditto Odium and the third moon (for that matter, the formation of the moon could have been part of the Rosharan system accepting and adjusting to their Power becoming "part of Roshar"). I doubt there is or was another Shard hiding in the Rosharan system and as far as we know the only tenuous link between Adonalsium and the number 4 is that there are Four Dawnshards - and we don't even know for sure if they started as separated or not.
  24. An Admin or Keeper can weigh in, but I would recommend startign the page on you user section (coppermind.net/wiki/User:Skylano (or whatever your user name there is)) so you can go through the time of adding templates, buiding and refining it now - when it's ready you can copy/paste the material to the new page once it has been created. Example: where I worked out the kinks for the tables used on various White Sand pages Hope that helps
