  1. Yes, Marsh claims to use Zinc and Brass to encourage people to ignore him - but Wax, Marasi and many fans suspect something else is happening. Marsh is able to Compound with Hemalurgy because he is from Era 1 - when Ruin was pushing Hemalurgy to do more than it should in order to make pawns. It was explained in The Lost Metal Ars Arcanum - but Harmony reverted Hemalurgy to it's unaltered form when he also "fixed" Allomantic Snapping during the Catacendre. Marsh used the Spikes from the Inquisitors that Vin killed to give himself the powers he wanted but lacked; so his spikes should all be things seen and understaood in Era 1. Hope that helps
  2. Age Range? Examples of other books you have liked? Based on nothing more than fast paced and relatively short (not including Sanderson - since, you are here and presuambly familiar with his works). Language and/or Content warnings on many of these, since you did not specify MG/YA Jumper - Urban Fantasy - abused highschooler finds the ability to teleport, runs away from home, doubts sanity and it escalates from there Codex Alera - Fantasy - Book 1 of 6, Complete (laater books are a bit longer Caves of Steel - Asimov - Classic SciFi Fast-paced by 1950s standards, an impossible murder in Earth far-future and the introduction of HumaniForm robots to Asimov's universe. Classic characters Elijah Bailey and R. Daneel Olivaw are introduced (4(ish) books total) Hounded - Urban Fantasy - Iron Druid Book 1 (9 total, complete) + short stories and novellas - Atticus is the last living Druid and it's not his fault that when he tells people he is 22 - they assume years instaed of centuries. The Celtic diety he has been hiding from for centuries has found him again, in Tempe Arizona and Atticus has finally decided to stop running. Storm Front - Urban Fantasy - Dresden Files Book 1 (of 25 - 17 complete, series ongoing). Harry is the only person listed in the Chicago yellow pages under "Wizard" but if you need a PI to take care of problems from the spooky side of life, give him a call. The Chicago PD use him as an advisor when they find things inexplicable, and now somebody is using magic to rip people's hearts from their chest without even entering the building. . . Dungeon Crawler Carl - Sci Fan LitRPG - Book 1 (or 10, 7 complete so far, series ongoing). - You know what’s worse than breaking up with your girlfriend? Being stuck with her prize-winning show cat. And you know what’s worse than that? An alien invasion, the destruction of all man-made structures on Earth, and the systematic exploitation of all the survivors for a sadistic intergalactic game show. That’s what. The apocalypse will be televised! There are many others, but without more guidance it's hard to choose what you may enjoy. The Recommended Reading list has a bit of information (indexed page one for easy review), but unfortunately page count isn't one - though anythign interesting sounding should be easy to search page count on wikipedia or goodreads. Link to EnderVerse Chronology Flowchart. Notably, only the Original Ender's Game is quite short (about 100k words - <300 pages) most of the rest are between 130-180k words (400-700 pages).
  3. Which is why I said implied. We get no indications that Singers or Horneater hear Cultivation's Tone or Rhythm from that Perpendicularity or any indications of Tone or Rhythm from Devotion's perpendicularity on Sel. WaT Spoilers We simply do not have enough information to discern what is always true, versus what is either turned on by the Shard or obfuscated by the Shard versus what is Realmatically changed by other factors.
  4. Alendi's Seeking is stated here - HoA Annotations to Ch 62: It's implied that Snapping Seekers to find the Well was "important" to Preservation's plan. Hope that helps.
  5. Yes. BLUF - The perpendicularity is there because that's where the power is. The power is there, because that's how Leras hid it. The Geodes are there because that was the mechanism used to hide it. The Pit's physical location is there because that's how Rashek moved everything when he changed the continent. The way that Preservation "hid" Ruin's power was to put it into a investiture cycle with the pits, where the condensed power of Ruin entered the physical realm in the crystals, combining with Electrum in the Rocks and eventually forming Atium beads inside the Geode. So the "Perpendicularity" is the entire chasm Kelsier crawls down in TFE when he destroyes the Geodes. There is no "Well" (single instance of liquid invesisture) despite the whole are being a Perpendicularity due to the amount of investiture concentrated in that one crack-in-the-ground. The Cycle was so that burned Atium returned to the Pits to form new beads instead of returning to the Spiritual Realm (as is normal in most Investiture cycles). The fact that it was tainted by Electrum (and therefore not Pure) helped shield it from searches (I think of it like doing a keyword search with the wrong synonym - correct meaning but the wrong word means the search fails to find what is being searched). They use the term "body" because it is a solid matter manifestation and they do not yet understand Investiture as Gas (mist), Liquid (Well) and Solid (beads) - though Sazed does mention this in the epigraphs of HoA. Hope that helps
  6. Focused is the wrong term. Basically, a Shard invested in a world will cause their power to permeate the world, which will result in leaking power coalescing in at least one location to form a Perpendicularty (though they can be made artifically too). That Perpendicularity can be a Well, but that is not the only form it can take. Ruin's Perpendiclarity was not a Well, it was teh Pits themselves, surrounded by many many tiny "wells" in the geodes that grew Atium. There was even interplanetary Trade happening in the Cognitive Realm outside of the Pits () No, the Kandra Homeland was in a cave system near the Pits, and with at least one tunnel that connected to them - but not "under" the Pits. We know at least one Kandra is a worldhopper before MeLaan left Scadrial in TLM. We don't know for certain, other that it is related to at least noe method a Shard may Splinter another Shard. Leras took a chicnk of Ruin's captured power, separated it and tied it to a non-typical Investiture Cycle at the Pits of Hathsin, creating E1 Atium - so that hte power remained stuck in the Physical Realm instead of returning to the Spiritual Realm as it normally should. Hope that helps
  7. Wasing does not necessarily imply past tense. Please see the High Imperial Academy which lays out all known information on Eastern Street Slang.
  8. We have no evidence that any Perpendicularity naturally emits a Pure Tone (e. g. Cultivation's Perpendicularity on Roshar, Devotion's on Sel) - the Well was specifically deisigned by Leras to emit that Tone and Rhythm when it was near to full, so it could summon a Seeker to take the power there and maintain Ruin's prison. If, however, a Being were naturally able to perceive Spiritual Realm Tones (like a Singer) - then yes, they should be able to perceive Ruin's Tone at the Pits in Era 1 or Harmony's Tone at Perpendicularity in the South (which we do not know if it is the form of a Well - which is only one of many possibilties for a Perpendicularity).
  9. No, Kandra is something very specific and very different - likely closer to (Warbreaker Spoilers) a Returned This is the prominent fan theory - which is expected to be confirmed or denied in Era 3. Well, if the Mistwraith was dead before Kelsier appropriated the body, that Cognitive Shadow would have gone to the Beyond. If the Mistwraith was not dead, then there is no Shadow at all - but we do not know how that would affect the body's native Cognitive Identity and attached Spiritweb. It is more likely the body was dead for this to take place (the interference would probably prevent Kelsier's Cognitive Shadow from being able to control the body). Yumi (YatNP) has clues as to how that body could look like Kelsier without Kelsier being able to consciously control the body's Shapeshifting abilities. One Blessing, which happens to be a matched pair of Hemalurgic spikes, will bypass the blockage to return a Mistwraith to Sapience (they are already Sentient). A single spike would not be a blessing and we do not know how Bleeder was able to use only a single spike non-blessing to do the same. For a normal Mistwraith using a single normal Hemalurgic Spike, it is unlikely to do anything because the bind points would be very different and are very malleable; so it would just end up being a piece of metal sitting somewhere in the body. Hope that helps
  10. Theories belong in Cosmere Discussion (for 2 or more books) or the appropriate book/series forum if only about one book or series (like Mistborn for this theory). Q&A is for discrete questions looking for a specific answer (if one exists) to help people easily search questions to find answers. That said - We don't know if all Godmetals are as open as Lerasium, but it is not likely. We only know that old WoBs said that "everybody" should have been able to use E1Atium in the first trilogy - but "Everybody" was never defined as "All Allomancers," "All Scadrians," or "All Sapient beings in the Cosmere." We also know that Lerasium granting Mistborn powers was a Side Effect and that Feruchemy is both Preservation and Ruin. Spelled out with WoBs in This Post (Stormlight Spoilers in that thread - if not that post). Lerasium Annotation/WoB: Hope that helps
  11. There's a WoB for that: Really, it's probably possible for a Yolish Dragon to bond a Spren, if there were a Spren willing to do so - but it is unlikely that a Yolish Dragon would want to bond a Spren. They already have access to Microkinesis (on which multiple surges - Division, Cohesion, Tension, at least - are based in-part) and they don't really gain anything else from the Nahel bond (they already heal and have other Investiture). That said, we know from Tress that Foil has accumulated BioChromatic Breath - so some Manifestations of Investiture (MoI) would be acquired by some Dragons, based on what they need and what they like to study (at least).
  12. Wax's Steelbubble was not a Resonance. It was skill and practice with Steel only (originally planned to be an effect of being a Steel Savant - but that was changed. Full WoB - extract below) This was confirmed in BoM when Wax fights a Set Coinshot who also produces a steel bubble very similar to his own (Ch 7 Train Fight) Resonances are not necessarily a "hybrid power" - they can be, but that's not the only way they manifest We do not yet know if a Luhel Bond, like Aethers, will intereact the same way. The point of a Resonance is your Spiritweb being saturated in Investiture. Luehls bonds do not go through the spiritweb (at least for Spores or Sand Mastery, by what we have seen so far) Hope that helps
  13. Please Tag all non-Stormlight Spoilers in the Stormlight Forum (or we can move the OT to Cosmere Discussion - but Riino put the thread here, presumably, for a reason). Also, WoBs (Mistborn Spoilers):
  14. Welcome to the Shard. Please consider an Intro Post to let us know what you have or have-not read (whichever list is shorter). Also, please consider checking out the Sharder FAQ for some useful forum info and tips. Their Sapience is not contained in their Blessing. Their Blessing contains the ability for which it is named. Mistwraiths were the world's feruchemists at the time that Rashek took the Well. He changed every living Feruchemist into a Mistwraith - then but a Block on their Cognitive Identity. The Blessing's other feature is to bypass that block (it has to do with why Kandra Spikes are different and could not use Inquisitor or Koloss Spikes instead - though we do not yet know what the difference is, precisely). Mistwraiths and Kandra are naturally Sapient species artificially handicapped until the Blessings allow them to become complete. WoBs: They would have a Cognitive Shadow like any other person. Hope that helps
  15. The Supression Fabrial seems to operate (Mistborn Spoilers)
  16. Steelrunners can experience "bullet time" - but faster than that they die through accidental suicide. Hope that helps
  17. WoB: It's not just the Spren Bond and oath level (Kaladin's eyes start changing in WoK) - it's also the point the person is starting from. Kaladin's eyes have more to change, so the changes are more noticible earlier. Hope that helps
  18. A-Duralumin is defined as "boost all metals currently burning" which is why a Misting is a Duralumin Gnat because they cannot have a second metal to burn. Shown in WoA Ch 8 when Vin first burns it while burning Bronze, Pewter, and Tin. Hope that helps
  19. It's the end of the WaT spoiler period, and things are in flux as the Spoiler Zone is dismantled, maybe that affected what you were seeing.
  20. Radiant Healing is about making the body conform to the Spiritual ideal of their Spiritweb, as filtered through their cognitive Identity. An external parasite (like bacteria) has no chance of successfully infecting a Radiant (or anybody with Spiritweb-based healing but more would be spoilers for this forum). It may not even be able to infect normal Rosharans, as seen by the "Pure Lake Plague" which barely infected the common people and was eradicated by normal healing in a year or two because Rosharans have heavy innate investiture being exposed to frequent Highstorms (or, at least, it started in WoK and was gone by the end of Oathbringer). Hope that helps
  21. The opposite, he has not yet found a way to convert Stormlight into BioChromatic Breath - and - he has not found a way to power Awakening with Stormlight. What is implied is that he has found a way to feed Stormlight to his Divine Breath. Invalid assumption - the could be subvocalizing, we may not hear the commands because Kaladin isn't paying attention to listening for them, the Command could have been made long ago with Vasher's demonstated ability to use "upon call" command that allows him to perform actions with a tapped command trigger (like he does with his Shirt Tassels in Warbreaker). My point is - We never get Awakenign from Zahel's or Azure's viewpoint at all, so we do not know how it is being accomplished and 10th Heightening Mental Commands is only one possibility of many much more likely scenarios. WoB:
  22. Heavily implied to be Awakening with BioChromatic Breath. RoW Ch 15:
  23. This is often a browser setting - most websites just define it as "use local default" so people choose for themselves (though they absolutely can force one option or the other ). An Admin will need to verify if that is true in this case. Depending on your browser, it should look something like this: Hope that helps
  24. You may want to revise your assessment of Tin: F-Tin is the Best F-Tin Day-to-Day Overthinking F-Tin A double-tin Twinborn Compounder would have a huge range of options available. Depends on the person and occupation (e. g. not best for combat, or best for <situation>). For just a normal woldhopper, in day-to-day living: Misting: Bronze, maybe Cadmium or Pewter Ferring: Copper, maybe Bronze Hemalurgy: none, downside just not worth it to me There are a lot of easily searched threads on Best/Favorite Misting/Ferring and you may be surprised at the large variety of answers. If needed, please see the Sharder FAQ for tips on searching the Forums (and many other Forum tips and info)
  25. Clubs was blurry from storing Vision Tinmind. Also, his perception is slowed by storing mental speed in a Zincmind. WoA Ch 50:
