The Most Powerful Subsets of the Arts
Treamayne replied to CoderDrag0n8's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Impossible to answer because you have not defined "powerful" or given any other measures or parameters. I disagree with most of the items in your list, for example - and have no idea how you decided they were indicative of being "powerful." -
You could try the Interactive Roshar Map (also found under the "More" menu on the forum header) - it sounds at least similar to what you are asking. It does take some practice and experiementing to get familiar with how it works.

Yup. Though, as a Feruchemist, he had access to Brass and could store the heat - so I would guess he could manage the sweating, if needed. It's possible that this is a contributing factor to why he used the Hut Kelsier (and Vin) found. . . he did not have to allow himself to express his age to compound his youth - but he did anyway (he may have removed the bracers while in the Hut - we have no data on that). WoB Hope that helps

There are likely to be many interpretations of this question. Minor WaT Spoilers: Hope that helps

Was Szeth Feeling the Thrill at the end of WOR?
Treamayne replied to SteelBagel's topic in Stormlight Archive
Nergaoul and the Thrill it creates had moved to Jah Keved - as seen in the scene with Taravangian before Szeth returns to the Shattered Plains. This, to me, was Szeth experiencing a Psychotic Break as the evidence of his senses and experiences conflicts with his Oaths and orders from his Master. It's not so much that he is enjoying the fight, as he is at war with his own mind as his body is at war with those around him. WoR Ch 85: It becomes more obvious when you see the Thrill from the PoV characters in Oathbringer. Hope that helps. -
As mentioned above - Also, please note that the Worldbuilding for DresdenVerse is large - but Butcher broke it up over the course of the first five books; so each book deals primarily with one aspect of that setting and with Book 6, they all mingle in the best horribly fantastic way. Slight Spoilers: This allows each early book to be between 86k-120k words, while slowly introducing story elements and not overloading the reader. I have a comprehensive chronology including all microfiction, short stories, novellas and novels - should anybody need it

Argenti answered for me, so I'll just add that the point of Spoiler Policy is that somebody that has read Stormlight may not have read any other Cosmere works at all - so this section is free to discuss anything Stormlight that is not in the New Release Spoiler Period; while asking Sharders to be mindful that people in this forum may not have read non-Stormlight works (ditto for each series/book forum) So those points need to be spoiler tagged and labeled (so people know the origin of the contents before clicking - it's not halpful to have a spoiler tag sitting there with no way for a fan to know if they should or should not read the contents). Much of this (and other tips) are all available as a reference in the Sharder FAQ. Example - RoW Spoilers:

^This^ You can check out the WoBs on Dragonsteel if you are interested, but it basically boils down to: Dragonsteel Prime was the original Hoid origin series - planned as 5 books It was scrapped and kept secret until recently because it had spoilers for things through SA5 and MB7, but is now available free as a Sanderson Curiosity Liar of Partinel was Dragonsteel Version 2.0 - also Scrapped - planned as 7 books Some sample chapters are available, but can be confusing DragonSteel is now planned to be a Trilogy, and will be the second-to-last Cosmere series Scheduled right before Mistborn Era 4 - which is also the final series for the Cosmere Tress and Yumi were written, in part, as ways for Brandon to practice Hoid's Narrative Voice so he can pin down the tone he wants Dragonsteel to convey Hope that helps

Not necessarily. We don't know the Allomantic effect of Lerasium yet - we have not seen it on screen and Sanderson has RAFOed the question. We do have this Annotation/WoB: Creating Mistborn is a Side-effect of Lerasium, when burned by a non-Allomancer. Not the true Allomantic Effect of a Mistborn burning Lerasium.

RIght. WoBs: So, IRL Matter and Energy are really the same and convert into one another (burning wood converts into ash, heat, and light; for example). In the Cosmere there is a third circle to that venn diagram - Investiture. Investiture, in the Physical Realm may appear to be similar to energy (e. g. stormlight) or matter (e. g. mist) - but will not display the properties of what it looks like - or - it may actually convert into matter (e. g. Atium beads) or energy (e. g. Aon Daa) which is when it displays properties of what it has become (and usually additional properies as well). Hope that helps

Explained in Secret History P6Ch8 He was driven into the ground of the CR, and by the time he emerged, Elend and the Mistfallen were fighting the Koloss. Shards cannot "know" something unless they know to ask or think about the information (like Kelsier's comment about Hemalurgy to Spook in the M:SH Epilogue). So, by the time he would have been "Visible" she was already well-distracted. Hope that helps.

For the first time, I am disappointed in the prose
Treamayne replied to Ironeyes's topic in Stormlight Archive
BLUF: It's the umbrella term for how an author tells the story (methods and use of foreshadowing, language, sentance structure, descriptive style, dialog style, etc.) Wiktionary: From the perspective of an author's craft - Wikipedia: Hope that helps -
The Omnibus is fully Canon (lore and worldbuilding) Free prose version is about 60-75% there with some major changes. Original Graphic Novels are Canon - except the mistake in book 1 with Slatrification. The big changes from original GN to Omnibus was restoring deleted material (like teh Khriss Prologue) and removing art mistakes (like the "boombox radio" drawn in the background of a tent in Book 1). The only version of the story I have not "read" is the Graphic audio. . . feel free to respond here or that linked post if you have more questions. Hope that helps

As far as we know, Spren are attracted to Cognitive Realm (emotions) and Physical Realm (Actions/events) things, not Spiritwebs. It's not impossible that the Dawnshard might be a factor, but it's not likely either. We don't see Rysn attracting extra Spren - and Sigzil leaves Roshar right after acquiring the Dawnshard, and so would not be around Spren to attract. . .
-
Did you read the post I linked? it covers all of that (and more).

Unfortunately, we don't know those answers. We don't even know how long after SA10 The Sunlit Man takes place. What we do know is that Radiants draw Platespren and Connect to the them - including some unconventional interactions (as seen in RoW and WaT). It is implied that Nomad will have gained 4th Oath Skybreaker before whatever happens that "kills" Aux. We know that after the events of WaT, He retained his Connection to the Windspren that were following him. It is implied that when Shardplate is summoned, it's composed of any PlateSpren Connected to the Radiant (regardless of order or affilitation) - the Platespren are attracted to deeds and emotions (creationspren and art, Windspren and protection, etc.); so it is implied that the connection is not based on the Radiant Oaths like the Nahel Bond - more like "Radiants of <order> are more likely to attract <spren>" and regardless of the state of the Nahel Bond, Sigzil is still Protecting and still behaving in manners that attracted his Windspren. But we won't get confirmation of these implications until the back half of Stormlight Archive (we hope).

Welcome to the Shard.Thank you for the Intro Post. Please consider checking out the Sharder FAQ for some useful forum info and tips. White Sand (and Sand Mastery) interacts with Stormlight Archive (cameos in WoR, OB, RoW and WaT), Tress of the Emerald Sea and others. Not to mention the origin story for one of the most important worldhoppers - Khriss; and a possible big-bad - Autonomy. Please see This thread for options and ideas. I think it is a good story and well worth the time. I also beleive that the Visual Ars Arcanum is worth a look, even if you don't like GNs in general - best part of the Omnibus release.

But that would not factor into why both Windspren and GravitySpren are part of his Shardplate.
-
If you can convert it to a true Physical Liquid state, possibly. As is - it only appears similar to a liquid, but without the physical properties of liquid matter.
-
You did not miss anything - we saw in Oathbringer that Kaladin had already accumulated enough Windspren to help divert some of the Highstorm winds when he protected the fleeing human slaves in Part 1. Radiants begin drawing platespren to them at least during the Third oath (possibly before then) and only reach a critical mass and enough Connection to form them into Shardplate at the Fourth Oath - but the platespren are following the Radiant long before then (also seen later in oathbringer, when Kaladin's Windspren manifest in Shadesmar while they are travelling onNotum's vessel). WaT Spoilers

Keep in mind that investiture has at least five known states in the Physical Realm - they do not all behave the same way. Investiture as a PR Solid (Atium/Lerasium beads, Shardblades, etc.) - Has specific Physical Realm and allomantic properties Investiture as a PR Liquid (unkeyed Dor, etc.) - Usually versitle to fuel MoIs for which is is Connected (or any MoIs when Unkeyed) and may have other unknown properties 2b - Investiture that appears to be liquid and may express some properties of a liquid - but does not express all properties of Liquids (surface tension, wetness, etc. - The Well, The Lake in Elantris, etc.) Investiture as a PR Gas - Theoretical, no confirmed examples on screen 3b - Investiture that appears to be gaseous and may express some properties of a Gas - but does not express all properties of Gas (BorChromatic Breath, The Mist, Ruin's Mist in WoA and AoL May be an intermediate shape for investiture entering the PR and undergoing Deposition or Condensation (Shardblades, etc.) We know Investiture may have a Plasma like state in Shadesmar, and there are energy states in both the PR and CR, but we don't know if invesiture can hold a stable Plasma state in the Physical Realm. Just as the mist appears to be gaseous, but is not Physical Gaseous matter and does not behave like a gas (unaffected by wind or weather - affected by buildings, Allomancy and Hemalurgy); The Well was not in a physical liquid state when Vin found it - it was an investiture state that appears to be liquid in the Physical Realm - but does not display the properties of a liquid and does not behave as a liquid. WoA Ch 58: Hope that helps

Welcome to the Shard.Thank you for the Intro Post. Please consider checking out the Sharder FAQ for some useful forum info and tips. There are many easily searched Reading Order Threads (linked one notes which books have spoilers for other books to enable readers to make informed decisions based on personal preferences). I would recommend completing the basics - From my other post: Hope that helps

Cadmium and Bendalloy were not metals Rashek could burn. Preservation had to remove the external pulling and pushing metals to add Atium and Malatium to Allomancy and preserve his "sign of 16." Even if Rashek had flakes of either metal, they were not allomantically viable until harmony fixed the changes Preservation had made to make for his plan to defeat Ruin to work. Hope that helps

No worries, just wanted to let you and the OP know the resource was already posted to these forums previously, so you should be able to copy the image if you want it, or ask if you have questions about how I organized the information (Chronology vs Reading Order). Many of the short stories do not have a audio version (and are simply free online), but also many were later incorporated into novels (such as Gold Bug and Young Man with Prospects both being incorporated into "Ender in Exile")
