  1. Which is why I only said "unlikely." Messing with Identity is tricky and dangerous. . . WoB Hope that helps
  2. The reason I post that is so it's in one easily found location. But it is not a requirement - though you may be asked on future questions (unless you plan to add this line to every post or in your signature) Please see the Ultimate Metal Count thread.
  3. Just note, this does not seem to be about being Cognitive Shadow, it has to do with touching a Cognitive Identity in Shadesmar - Also seen when Shallan touches Drehy's Cognitive Flame on Roshar. OB Ch 89: Not just people with access to the Suge of Transformation - as Venli can do it as well, thanks to the Surge of Transportation. Not just Renarin's Voidbinding, though that seems easier/more likely. We have this snippet from a pre-recreance Truthwatcher - OB Ch 85 Epigraph, WoB: And most Singers (which is why some Horneaters inherited the ability) - RoW Ch 48: It's not about the Future, it's about Connection. The scene in the lait in WoR she draws Ash and Yalb, and both events were in the past (Ash's scene was WoK I-7), Similarly seen when Syl takes on Shallan's form in the Chasms, before She and Kaladin even meet Shallan. WoR Ch 9, WoB: As can Koloss under Hemalurgic Control. It is implied to be a Similar Emotion-based Control Bond. My Theory Here. Please mark your SP5 Spoilers, it is still in the Spoiler Period. Hope that helps
  4. This scene? - TFE Ch 7: It is Kelsier's mistake, and foreshadowing exactly what Marsh says about him in TFE Ch 20: Unreliable narrator has always been a part of the Cosmere, and people (even the Ars Arcanum) can simply be wrong in what they think they understand (which is how the Arcanum changing in each of the three books shows the earlier version were not quite correct as they learn more about the Metallic Arts). That was simply showing/foreshadowing that Kelsier doesn't think much about those metals and, (in case the reader has forgotten) is still quite new to being a Mistborn himself (as per The Eleventh Metal story). Hope that helps.
  5. My only problem with the Intro Post Cookie gag was that it seemed to be used indiscrimately. Many people were coming here after just finding the Cosmere (or Sanderson, but not Cosmere at all - like Reckoners and Cytoverse) - and rarely were their first books Mistborn Era 1; so it just caused a bunch of confusion and Spoiler tags and what not. Used when the OP can get the joke it's fine. Used for everybody without regard for if they have read Era 1. . . not as fine (in my opinion).
  6. Yeah, I wasn't consistently active until I got a new (non-shiftwork) job. Very sporadic until the 2020s
  7. Sure - just not OG like Chaos, AonEne, Harakeke, Jofwu, etc. - My First two posts. . .
  8. I only joined in 2016 - the forums are at least a few years older than that. . .
  9. Welcome to the Shard. Please consider an Intro Post to let us know what you have or have-not read (whichever list is shorter). Also, please consider checking out the Sharder FAQ for some useful forum info and tips. This was accidentally posted to the wrong forum, so we asked teh mods to move it to Mistborn Forum (please see Sharder FAQ for more info). As for your questions, it depends on the character(s). I would guess that those that survived teh Catacendre and had a hand in Founding Elendel (Spook, Beldre, Hammond, Ladrian, etc.) would be much less overawed than those that did not survive the Catacendre (Tindwyl, Clubs, Dockson) and were unaware of the events at the climax of HoA. We do know, at least, how one Era 2 character felt about an Era 1 character though - SoS Ch 19: Hope that helps
  10. It is from the noted chapter, just not mentioned in the summary of that chapter on the Coppermind IED Ch 40 - Dajer: Unreliable Narrator applies, just because Dajer says he has heard this rumor, does not mean it is true and does not mean with would work on The Evil. Hope that helps
  11. Funny actually I came to the opposite conclusion order to be relevant our characters will have to be even more invested than they are now. I don’t think Vin would be nearly as impressive in a era 4 cosmere meaning that if we’re going to continue to make characters like her, we need characters at least Lord ruler level either that or fundamentally change what the Cosmere is Your opinion is as valid as any other E4 theory for which we do not have enough information yet to progress beyond idle speculation. That said, I do not understand the chain of reasoning that led you to that conclusion. To me (everything after this is my deduction): Fabrials may be ubiquitous and integrated into normal daily life I doubt TLR level compounded Fabrials will also be commonplace - even if normal Scadrian/Rosharan/Aether fabrials are Normal people may have access to "translators," "Pewtermind physical augments," etc. - but I doubt everybody will have access to everything Even if everybody has many/a lot/all available Fabrial MagiTech - a, continuing the previous example, naturally invested Mistborn would also have all their normal abilities plus all the extra tools that are ubiquitous Basically, if everybody has Invested Tools; then Invested Protagonists will have their normal abilities Plus all the same tools as everybody else. So, is it possible (likely even) to have an Antagonist who has some super Fabrial Collection that can make them (still continuing the Vin example) Mistborn-level Peer dangerous. Sure - how else would we have a Big Bad without that possibility. Will every "normal joe" have that amount of tech, and the skill to use it. Unlikely. I'd be curious to hear how your reasoning diverges.
  12. Apologize for the slightly OT - but I think Era 4 is more Sci-Fan: Sci-fi setting with fantasy elements (like Star Wars and Red Rising). Does not impact you conclusion though. Fabrial Tech will allow a spread of access to invested arts, and also allow some large-scale things that could not be accomplished otherwise (like FTL itself). But it also means that a character does not have to be Vin-level Invested to be relevant. That's my take anyway.
  13. Why is this in Entertainment Discussion? Are you referencing a book/game/movie/song?
  14. I had read the rest of the post and was still looking for WoBs - that's why I only quoted the part to which I responding (to answer the question about types of metals, since you said you had no time to look up the WoBs). I cannot find anything about Awakening metallic cabling. There is this WoB about normal Type III BioChromatic entities requiring flexibility to simulate muscle/sinew - and (in this WoB) stone just is not flexible enough for that kind of Awakening. I would think that implies that Awakening Cable as Rope should still be viable, though it would still require a much larger number of Breaths based on the Law of BioChromatic Parallelism. WoB: Hope that helps
  15. Yes, the metal and the object both have an impact. WoBs: Hope that helps
  16. Investiture seeks sapience. WoB: There are likely to be a number of ways. BioChromatic Breath achieves this through Investiture + Command. Investiture + Identity might help, but it would have to be a lot of Investiture, and then there is likely another step needed. WoB: Hope that helps
  17. They are neither evil nor cultists - but they are from Emperor's Soul. Spoilers:
  18. Unlikely, based on WoBs: Hope that helps
  19. F-Bendalloy stores nutrition and hydration. Calories may be a form of energy, but not all energy can be used by the body as Caloric Fuel. If there is a wider use for Bendalloy, we do not yet know it. SA Spoilers and WoBs: Hope that helps
  20. The Forums, Coppermind, and Arcanum are each their own separate account and log-in. Arcanum Staff Creating Entries (includes link to the style guide)\ Consider joining the Coppermind Discord as another way to discuss community editing Hope that helps
  21. Welcome to the Shard. Please consider an Intro Post to let us know what you have or have-not read (whichever list is shorter). Also, please consider checking out the Sharder FAQ for some useful forum info and tips. How far have you read into Stormlight Archive? Spoilers for RoW and WaT: WoBs: The Sunlit Man will also have information on this topic The Sharder FAQ has tips on how to search Arcanum - but, yes, knowing or intuiting the best keywords to search helps a lot. Hope that helps
  22. WoB: Caveat: The bullet-spike would need to be a metal that can withstand the forces of firearms - e. g. a Tin slug is unlikely to make an effective Tin Spike Bullet to steal senses. Just like E2 aluminum bullets have to be an alloy to be unpushable because true alluminum would not survive being shot from a modern firearm. So - metal purity and alloy percentages should still apply. Hope that helps
  23. They would know more of the origin than I (I don't frequent the RP section of the Shard) - the part they failed to mention is that the in-joke seems to be mostly kept alive in the Intro Threads section (3126 instances of "cookie" in those threads, and 147 instances where a post mentions both a Cookie and a Spike) - presumably as a way to help identify potential new players for the RP section. For example (note: clicking on the curved arrow at the top-right of a quote box will take you to the thread and post from which the quote originates. That's the benefit of using the quote feature over simply copying text, clicking the quote-box in the editor and pasting into a non-attributed box. Please see the Sharder FAQ for more info):
  24. I think that what we have seen so far of Era Four is in the Venn Diagram intersection of three factors: As you said, not spoiling MoIs intended to be introduced or explained elsewhere (e. g. No Nomad using the Surge of Division as that is meant for SA 6-10) Increasing use of Fabrials (in the E4 definition - Technological access to Investiture) as an equalizer The stories he has wanted to tell are not about the people on Major Shardworlds that would be wielding the kind of investiture only found on planets where Shards reside. WoBs: Hope that helps
