  1. The first two books got their Look Inside turned on by Amazon. Not a big deal because these are re-releases. But if you look through them you'll get a good idea of what the new artwork looks like. I'm very happy with these books, so I hope a lot of people will read the new versions.
  2. Ahhh, the new update gave me a bunch of good laughs. Excellent.
  3. Yep, this is all we know. The default assumption from this is that they're dark brown. As far as I know, Scadrial doesn't have any weird eye colors like Roshar does.
  4. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. No really, I'm confused by your usage. Is it that anything that has to do with fanservice, or creepy behavior, or just plain love and romance, is gross?
  5. Last night I read the first half of Unforgettable by Eric James Stone. I'm really enjoying it. It's about a guy who can't be remembered by people—if he's out of their sight and hearing for a minute, they forget he exists. Naturally, he goes to work for the CIA.
  6. Unfortunately, I don't know a way to keep this from happening at all. Usually we can get them to take it down very soon after we notice it—but right now everyone is out of the office. Tor does know about it now, but I don't know if they've been able to get in touch yet with the people who can take care of it.
  7. It's fine to read what there is of the prologue if you like. We held it back from the previews this time mostly due to timing and the number of preview chapters.
  8. It's best for everyone NOT to read the Amazon previews. There is stuff in there that is meant to stay secret. Chapter 4 is meant to be in the previews released by Tor, but it's annoying that Amazon messed up the timetable. And everyone at Tor is on break this week, so we can't get them to contact Amazon about this...
  9. Finally finished the season of Food Wars. Like always, I love the show and hate the fanservice. I hope it gets toned down if they do another season, but I'm not holding my breath. At least I still have the manga to read in my Viz Shonen Jump subscription. It's certainly my top series that's currently running. This week's chapter was very satisfying. I also watched episodes 2 through 4 of Golden Time, after having watched the first one over a year ago, maybe even closer to two years. This is a series about a college kid (who lost all his memory and changed his personality in an accident after high school) who is interested in the girl who swears she is going to marry his roommate. One of the episodes was a rather original one where the club they are recruited to turns out to be a cult. I really enjoyed that one. We have watched maybe 4 episodes of Ushio and Tora, but I'm not enthusiastic about it. I am getting quite tired of "defeating Japanese mythological monsters that are really gross" shows. This season, the only show we are keeping up with on Crunchyroll is Haikyuu. Is there any other current Crunchyroll show that you think is great stuff?
  10. We finished up Classroom Crisis and were very satisfied. It has sequel potential with some open ends, but the main plot was wrapped up. I definitely recommend it.
  11. Hah. Umm. I actually didn't log on here on my birthday this year, seeing as it was Thanksgiving and all...
  12. Classroom Crisis. It's an interesting idea—a class full of high school engineering students, on Mars, and the corporate scion who is trying to shut them down. We liked the first few episodes, but then there was a beach episode that we put off watching for a while, because fanservice gets annoying. We finally watched it and it wasn't that bad. Last night we saw episode 10, and wow, a lot of stuff happened. Makes you rethink the whole show. So, we're glad we didn't stop watching. The Mars stuff is mostly window dressing. The gravity doesn't seem to be any different from Earth's. Oh well. Food Wars. I have one episode left. I really like the manga, but the fanservice in the anime is just so much worse than the manga. In the manga it's a panel here and there. In the anime there is so much bouncing and jiggling. Seriously, this is a cooking show, and they thought that no one would watch it without bouncy bouncy jiggle jiggle, or something. The plot is great, but the fanservice makes it very hard to watch.
  13. One of my favorite anime movies is Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer. It's highly watchable even if you know nothing about Urusei Yatsura. It's one of those time-loop-trap movies, and there is a moment that is simply mindblowing.
  14. We hit the final episode of My Love Story and I really hate to see it go. This has been a fun, easy show to watch. No big drama (though there is some small drama). But definitely not boring. It being done leaves a gap in our viewing.
  15. Jojo's art style has always put me off, but I might give it a look.
  16. This particular spanreed communication took place that morning, ashore, before they left port at whatever port that was. Sailors on Roshar are very cautious and take it slow, because getting caught in open water during a highstorm means you die.
  17. So, we got to the end of episode 12 of Gate, and there was no preview. And we said wait, is that the end?! And yes, yes it is, right after a new arc was apparently starting. Ugh. This show did some interesting things and we would have gladly watched more. (Oh, thank goodness, it's coming back in January.) Still, we've been struggling finding good shows right now. The only thing we're keeping up with is the new season of Haikyuu, which I'm pretty happy with—the coach is actually doing some, y'know, coaching, compared to any coaches in Yowapeda. Growth is happening. Yay. Watched 3 episodes of Sound! Euphonium and I just can't take it anymore because the teacher does not teach them. I guess this is the way they do clubs in Japan, but it's too discouraging to watch. Watched 1 episode of Ushio and Tora. Will give it another episode. This is an interesting character dynamic, but I'm not sure it's enough for me. The demons are tiring. We're 20 episode into My Love Story, so that's near its end. Hope we can find something to replace it with. It's a good one. We've done 39 episodes of World Trigger. This show is sort of like our Bleach replacement, and it comes with the same too-much-recap-in-each-episode-that-we-fast-forward. (Oddly, this show has only one credits sequence, usually in the middle of the episode, rather than an OP and an ED. It took me a long time to figure this out, that there was not ED.) Anyway, World Trigger is something we watch kind of in fits and starts. Sometimes we go weeks without watching one. Watched the first episode of Gatchaman Crowds. Very strange show with odd visuals. Will not continue. Watched the second episode of Akame ga Kill about a month after watching the first one. Too gory for us and won't continue. We have watched 5 episodes of Classroom Crisis. Some good early stuff, now kind of on the fence. Watched 2 episodes of Nobunagun a couple months ago and just can't care about it. Removing it from queue right now... On a sort of related note, after Crunchyroll discontinued their app for our Panasonic TV (which was one of the reasons we had bought that TV in the first place), we borrowed a relative's Roku 3. The Roku Crunchyroll app kept dropping the resolution down to 480p or 360p, which sucked. (Our connection is about 20M.) We just got a new Apple TV and I'm much more happy with it. The interface is a little bit nicer in my book, and it doesn't lose the resolution like that. Fast-forwarding also does not make it sit and buffer for a whole minute.
