  1. That's an important distinction to make though. Promote in this case means it can accelerate cancer growth that is already there. It does not mean it can cause cancer. So really e-cigs would only be detrimental if you already had cancer.
  2. The big question there is if. There are no real signs or studies proving that nicotine is a carcinogen. Sure it's super addictive, but cancer causing? No science to back that up that I'm aware of.
  3. Difference of opinion I guess. I felt like all the things you mentioned worked well in the framework of the movie. Didn't find the Superman stuff pointless at all.
  4. And let's be fair here, e-cigarettes don't produce smoke, they are using plant based or some other form of glycerol/glycol and produce a vapor or fine mist. This is the equivalent of inhaling the stuff that comes out of a fog machine. Now there aren't really many studies yet on how unhealthy that is, but I can assure you that it's gotta be less damaging than smoke. I'm not really saying this to defend one side or the other, I just like factual information to be present at every debate. I will admit the pretentiousness of many "vapers" is so so dumb, but to combat the physical aspect of cigarette addiction I don't find this too appalling.
  5. Saw it yesterday finally. Loved it. Can't really see why all the critics didn't like it. Finally the world's greatest detective does some stuff to live up to the title! And his fights were perfection. WW was great. Love the different approach to world building where not everyone gets their own movie, it's just a story that includes all these characters. Felt so much like a DC comic I was very pleased.
  6. That would be Martinelli's Sparkling Cider. Best alcohol free champagne replacement on the planet.
  7. The Catalyst Fire by Dead Letter Circus. Good proggy Aussie rock.
  8. Better in the middle than sliding inexorably into depression.
  9. Yeah I've found I need to take a break every now and then to readjust myself. My brother is highly recommending The Name of the Wind so I'll probably pick that up when I'm done with these. Hopefully it's a bit of a pallet cleanser for all the hopeless despair and misery.
  10. On the second book of the Unhewn Throne trilogy. I like it, it has a good story, but I do find it hard to get through at some times. Everyone and everything is just so...miserable. I know the world is a dark place, but everything in this series just seems to want to suck the life and hope out of me and the characters. I'll finish the trilogy and see how it ends up, but if it doesn't let up at some point I can't say that it will be one of my favorites.
  11. My concern is mostly that as a middle class earner I basically get punished. My wages mean less because inflation goes up to offset the minimum wage increase. So then if my employer ups my wages to compensate, I don't get a raise, I just stay in the same place basically because cost of living has gone up. My state is pretty screwed financially.
  12. When the state you live in decides to drastically raise minimum wage without any thought as to what it will do to the economy and devaluing current wages for people not at minimum. Minimum wage is NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A LIVING WAGE!! IT'S A TRAINING WAGE!!! ugh
  13. So I found the passage, it's the last chapter of Way of Kings. Dalinar has a vision with what appears to be Tanavast's actual form. The description we're given only mentions his skin, hair and clothes, no mention of a knife. That's not to say he didn't have one, but no confirmation from that one. Bummer. I still think we might see the same type of knife with more of the vessels if we start seeing more of them...
  14. Well there's also some physical description of Tanavast in SA isn't there?
  15. I'd say there's a tonal difference between "childish" and "child-like". One denotes immaturity and the other denotes more of the positive aspects.
  16. Smokey and the Bandit.
  17. So there is a detail that I don't know if anyone has looked for up to this point. As pointed out in the original post, I am very interested in Leras' knife and think it has some important connection to past events during or before the shattering. The question is: Have we seen any of the other original vessels (in what little screen time we've gotten from them) mentioned bearing a knife? I can't for the life of me remember in any of the previous descriptions whether or not we've seen another. Granted, I could be grasping at straws here, but it may also be something to look for in the future as a tell.
  18. To be fair, Fant4stic was not part of the MCU. It was made by Fox. That does change the dynamic somewhat.
  19. Yeah fingers crossed they don't forget that part of what made the show so great was it's lack of explanation of almost everything. One of the only shows or movies to ever pull that off successfully and not leave the viewer terribly frustrated. If they stick to that formula and only give us vague answers I think it should be good. I just hope the Rickenbacker makes a comeback. Best sci-fi weapon ever.
