I'm now trying to wrap my mind around how their version of cohesion differs from that if the Stonewards.

@RShara, @TheMediocreMind, Dalinar appears to be able to infuse with Stormlight at will without having to create a perpendicularity:
-
Disregard. The Radiant Dalinar saw was a Stoneward. He just didn't share the surge with Dalinar, but instead he shared it with the Willshapers.

I'm pretty sure he can do it at will now but it definitely does exhaust him if he does it too much.
-
Moash has it.
-
If Dalinar has direct access to Stormlight to infuse gemstones, shouldn't he wield Nightblood?
-
So was the Radiant that Dalinar saw a Willshaper then and NOT a Stoneward?

I could see that Jasnah combined the transportation surge with transformation to transport her crystallization effect to multiple enemies while fighting in Thaylen. That is obviously something unique only to Elsecalling. If Willshapers, then, can use cohesion to mold things (like leaving a hand print in a boulder), my guess is that at the very least, inexperienced Willshapers will have to touch a surface to transport the cohesion surge to mold a broad area to their will, but perhaps seasoned ones can mold surfaces or objects without touching them, kind of like soulscasting, but instead of transforming, they mold and shape.

Him showing up late makes me feel that the transportation surge won't eventually grant teleportation. If it did, Kalak could have just teleported to the meeting place.

[OB] Why is Kaladin the only one doing his job?

I think Radiants will form teams like Bridge 4 (Windrunner/Truthwatcher). So a squire may be noticed by any number of spren I also believe that Szeth ought to train everyone about all the surges. I'm not sure he'll be willing to do so if he's committed to being Dalinars bodyguard. -
[OB] Full Book Reactions / Full Spoilers Thread

That's a Willshaper spren. They're described as looking like comets. It's not Eshonai. There should be tens, if not hundreds of each order. So we'll get a lot more. -
Renarin should give that plate to someone else now that he absolutely destroyed that Thunderclast without it.
-
If he is to protect those he hates, if it is right, perhaps his oath will be "I will risk losing those I care about to accomplish that which is right (or the greater good)."
-
If this were so, why didn't the Radiants create shardplate at will for normal foot soldiers?
-
I was a little disappointed in the transportation surge. I thought for sure it could transport others like an Oathgate. It's just kind of lame that it's basic use is simply to enter and exit Shadesmar. HOWEVER, I could see that Jasnah combined it with transformation to transport her crystallization effect to multiple enemies while fighting in Thaylen. Thoughts?

They weren't surgebinders. Surgebinders didn't exist until much much after the heralds. If anything it was voidbinding that they used.

Skybreaker, Willshaper, or Truthwatcher. In that order.

[OB] Who do you think the other Bondsmiths will be?

By the way. I think Mr. T. should die of old age soon. No bondsmith for him. -

I was going to say this same thing if I didn't see it in here. -
So Coppermind officially labels "I will take responsibility for what I have done. If I must fall, I will rise each time a better man" as the third Oath. They don't acknowledge the rest. Good call.

[OB] Odium (and Dalinar) (and Honor) (and Cultivation)
Watchcry replied to Leyrann's topic in Stormlight Archive
Usually vessels become overpowered by the shard over many years. If you recall, Rayse refused to assume any other shard because he didn't want to dilute who he had become. Over time Dalinar would succumb to the same shortfalls. He'd definitely have to restore and assume honor before killing Rayse and taking up his shard as well. -
I was referring to a starting point. So there's no surprises. I want suggesting it was a black and white line. I got what you're saying.
-
It should be a solution moving forward that to trust a Radiant they should take an initial step to demonstrate their spren is normal for their order.
-
If he is to reunite Adonalsium he would need to first reforge honor to counter Odium (kind of like what Harmony does). If he kills Rayse and takes his shard without another one to balance Odium he will fail because Odium destroys shards, here doesn't assume/integrate them into himself. He'd also have to kill Cultivation somehow as well as the other Shardholders.
