  1. Re-Shepir is now my mom... yay?
  2. I have said this before, but I don't think Mr T can be seen as evil. He tries to save humanity (he still does, even though he has been limited to one city). The goal isn't evil. He never does anything just because he wants to harm others. Quite the opposite actually: he feels bad for doing what he is doing. From his perspective, he is sacrificing his own morality (and a lot of people) in order to make humanity survive. Utilitarian yes, the wrong decision, most likely, but evil? No, I wouldn't go that far.
  3. This is very interesting, good job @Nohadon! Very cool stuff! IronWay, ElectrumWay, TinWay and BronzeWay were all really neat, and I think IronWay would be my favorite. I like how you managed to make something up for the weaker mistings too, such as Aluminum.
  4. Also, which Tanalan is in the poll? There were two of them in the book.
  5. I heavily disagree about Amaram being bland and one-dimensional. The problem is that the complexity is hinted at, but never fully explored. On the other hand, I totally agree about the rest. If I got to make one change to Oathbringer, I would add in a bunch of Amaram POV-scenes, where we see his guilt, where we see him break down, and where we can gain some sympathy for him. It would have worked great, and made his fight with Kaladin much more epic, because we would be a lot more invested in his character. It would also have worked as a nice mirror too Dalinars character: the major difference between Dalinar and Amaram is that Dalinar could rise above his guilt, which Amaram failed to do. In the end, I feel like the concept and pieces that exist for Amaram is great, but we could have had so much more. I might be the only one on the Shard to say this, but I'd rather gotten an Amaram POV-section than the Bridge 4 one (which was nice, but not as necessary).
  6. By the way, who is Lady Lewishi? Nales unknown daughter?
  7. Sigh. Poor Amaram :-( I voted for Straff. You can't be more despicable, really, unless you are written by GRRM.
  8. Don't spoil our fun Calderis! :-) Also, I forgot he got decapitated. Thats a bummer, both for him and for us.
  9. Huh. This is kinda interesting. Do we think Telrii survived/got rezzed somehow? I don't get how that would work, or even why though. He seemed like a minor villain, without much consequence. But I guess everything is possible. EDIT: What if Telrii is like Christian Bale in the Prestige? That could be nice.
  10. No worries. Tell me if you happen to stumble across it though :-)
  11. I have a pet theory that the Sibling will end up having the name Walter, but this idea is better. Have an upvote!
  12. My five cents, as a non-shipper and one who is mostly here to amaze at how this thread is as immortal as Hoid himself: Shallan is the hardest character to discuss in SA. By far. She is extremely confusing, totally unreliable, and no one really knows what is real and what is fake when it comes to her personalities. On another note, I think this confusion is made worse by the fact that people are looking out for their different ships, be it Shalladin or Shadolin (Shadolin totally sounds like some badass shogun in a japaneese war epic) and thus reads her the way that fits their preferred romance the most. I think that in order to get who Shallan really is, we have to take a look at what consistently matters to her, across all personas. One of those things is the fact that she cares about others. She cares for her brothers, she cares for Adolin, for Kaladin, for random people she finds on the streets of Kholinar. She doesn´t even like the fact that Jasnah killed the thugs back in WoK. She is a generally kind-hearted person, and this seems to go through most of her personas. She also draws pictures of others to make them better people, and seems to generally enjoy helping others. I want to write more on this, but it is late now and I gotta get up kind of early tomorrow, so I might return with another post on Shallans psychology later. Happy shipping (or psychoanalyzing) folks!
  13. Mraize had a little off-screen chat with Ash in the second half, during which he gave her information about Talns whereabouts. Question is, what did she give him? And, another question relating to this: how come Ash ended up working with Mraize. Just months earlier, she could afford minions and ran about destroying art, and now she washes Mraizes clothes. And Mraize seemed to know that she was one of his employees. He didn't seem surprised at all when she revealed who she was. So my two questions are basically: What information did Ash give Mraize? How did Mraize know where Ash would be?
  14. Why Kylo Ren is the correct choice: Kylo is much more complex than Vader. He is surrounded by awesome people, and he wants to be recognized and seen as well, which is where his power-madness comes from. He is afraid of being weak. This is why he is dressing up like a wannabe Vader, and why he worships his grandfather so much. This is also why he wants to kill the past. It all reminds him of his weakness, and of the ones who are stronger than him. At the same time, he does have feelings for others, deep down. Killing Han hurt him, and his actions in TLJ shows that he cares for others too. We get to see Kylo grow and evolve. Vader was basically the same guy until the end of RotJ where he changes. He lacks the depth that Kylo has. Kill the past and vote Kylo.
  15. Bands of Mourning and Secret History Spoilers:
  16. When I first read the book I got an idea that Timbre was a he, but in later part Venli said she. So is Timbre a boy or a girl? In addition, anyone who knows why Lift seems to be referring to Nightblood as a girl once? Just after Nightblood almost kills Szeth, I believe.
  17. As Kaymyth said, there are very extroverted people who are very nerdy. I too know a bunch of them.
  18. Yay! I'll listen to your songs, then.
  19. Thank you Calderis! You always contribute with something awesome, and whenever I see one of your posts, I know that I will see something great. You are kind and respectful to everyone, and you have been helpful when I've asked about stuff. The community benefits greatly from the fact that you are here.
  20. Sadeas shardplate became red because of all the blood on his hands.
  21. Who is the better villain, in your opinion?
  22. @hoiditthroughthegrapevine You missed Evi, whose death we got to witness in OB. And then, since no one else will do it properly, I will take upon me the burden to give Highlord Meridas Amaram a proper farewell (euolgies isn't really my thing, so this is probably bad, and long): Meridas Amaram was a man who was raised with the ambition of achieving greatness. He was a man who had good intentions. He was a man with a pretty cool name. He was kind to his servants, and is the only man ever to be progressive through the collecting of flutes. Unfortunately, Meridas Amaram was also a man who had the dumbest plan since the days of Blackadder. He was a man who went a bit too far to achieve his goals. And he will forever be remembered as the guy who grew gemstones in unfortunate places. May he be the hero he wanted to be in the next realm.
  23. Brandon recently spoke about Liar of Partinel (Hoids origin story) in an episode of his Writing Excuses podcast. I think this is something I'm allowed to post, since it is accessible for everyone, but I'll spoiler tag it to be on the safe side. Interesting stuff Brandon said (possible spoilers for Liar of Partinel, though I doubt Brandon spoiled anything major in a podcast): I don't know how much of this is general knowledge, but I found it interesting. Here is the link to the episode, if anyone is interested: http://www.writingexcuses.com/2017/12/31/12-53-writing-excuses-true-confessions/
