  1. No. Enhancement metals affect Allomancer's process of metabolizing the metals. Without person able to burn metals chromium is useless.
  2. I think Preservation was a special case with Leras being basically brain dead. I don't think we're ever gonna see another situation with Shardholder still not dead but without a mind to guide the power.
  3. Don't know how to explain something? #justClaimItsQuantum Because everything is better with quantum.
  4. Bubbles interact like Venn diagram. So you're right about the time ring.
  5. I guess damage is damage - it takes the same amount of time.
  6. A déjà vu is usually a glitch in the Matrix. It happens when they change something.
  7. I got lost in all the war threads (if somebody knows the correct one please relocate this post) but there was something about duralumin Push on Shardblades and discussion whether it would or wouldn't throw Coinshot back. Vin duralumin Pushing on her earring (small and light) was thrown back into the wall. Now I know that Pushing on Shardblade would be harder, but at the same time it's way more massive and it's held with quite a strength.
  8. Well, being koloss-blooded makes you a little like Pewterarm, right? A little stronger, a little faster healing and so on. So koloss-blooded hazekiller can be quite efficient and use Steelpushing only in dire situations. This gives advantage of surprise. Let's say you're a Coinshot and you're fighting this koloss-blooded hazekiller. When you finally think you got a clean shot and he's toast, he suddenly uses Steelpush to deflect the coin in your face. If you survive that, the real fight just only begun as you're fighting another Coinshot. Of course, for it to work the hazekiller cannot carry any metal for projectiles, so it's a trade-off. But he can similarly Steelpush any metal weapon when he cannot parry or he can Steelpush himself away to dodge something which should have killed him. Other than that, I don't see any advantages of employing hazekiller close combat when you can just shower the opponent with fast moving pieces of metal. Also, Steelpushing gives great speed and maneuverability.
  9. Well, a Pewterarm can easily adopt hazekiller techniques and be scarily efficient at hazekilling. Seekers and Smokers doesn't really have any Allomantic advantages in combat. Well, a skilled Seeker can recognize what metal is the opponent burning, when it is flared, how much left. That could be useful. Soothers/Rioters aren't really combat type, unless you're Batman/ninja. You can scare people to death or make them more careless so they don't notice you until you slit their throats. Leechers are just regular hazekillers with one-hit-kill. They touch the Allomancer, drain him, it's the end for him. Nicroburst have to be more careful about that. Bendalloy Mistings, compare Wayne. Cadmium Mistings occupy opponents with combat until reinforcements arrive. Electrum Mistings... we don't really know what electrum is truly capable of. Aluminum, Duraluminum, Gold - useless in fight. (Unless burning aluminum makes you invulnerable to Shardblades and whatnot. Then you're Ultimate Investiture Killer). Tineyes... compare Spook. But remember about flash grenades, loud noises, strong smells... Anyway it can be helpful if you're ninja type, you don't need light. Lurchers and Coinshots have powers drastically redesigning the way they're fighting, so I don't see how hazekiller training can help.
  10. Awakening? Breath degrades very slowly. Eki already pointed out double Skimmer perpetuum mobile. IIRC Coinshot/Lurcher turbines are canon. Make Pewterarms manually spin generator? Technically you only need to supply pewter. Roshar seems hard, since it uses Investiture quickly, but if you Soulcast air into metal at high altitude, you're creating a lot of kinetic energy. Basic Lashing could also be useful - Lashing something up and it falling down can also create a lot of energy. Or wrap Elantrians in solar panels XD
  11. I thought I could go for the hunt through discounts to find a grey cape/cloak or coat (depending on whether I would be doing First or Second Era) and cut it up in ribbons. Then sew additional layer or two of ribbons. That way I have something which definitely looks like clothing with added mistiness Freedom matters little to me, the easier the better. IIRC hood is optional, but what about sleeves? BTW, this is all just speculation - I have never in my life used a sewing machine. And I can't even imagine trying to ask my mother about it. Oh, she would probably help. But my family would tease me about that for the rest of my life XD
  12. I've decided that next year I am going to the annual Con. Either as regular participant or, if we (the fansite crew) manage to get everything right, as prelector for Cosmere stuff. I never imagined I could end up in such situation, even hypothetically. Chances for the second scenario are not high, so probably only as participant. I have like two left hands but... making a mistcloak shouldn't be that complicated, right? Seems like a pretty easy one in the realm of cosplaying.
  13. so what, stormform is just some starting form to kick off Voidbinding? First you merge with stormspren to achieve stormform to summon Everstorm which carries enough of Odium's Investiture to make proper ten types of voidspren? Because it doesn't make sense otherwise. Stormform granted ability to shoot (em... cast? what is the verb?) lightnings. If that's not Voidbringer form... Generating lightning bolts is just some offshoot of summoning the storm?
  14. I was actually quite surprised (and after thinking a while I realised I shouldn't be) that 17thShard plays CAH. You see, when first coming to Shard you're suprised by how everyone is so nice to each other and so on. CAH is of dark, disturbing humour, so that didn't fit the picture. Then I realised that it doesn't necessarily contradict each other - we're just showing the nicer part of us here.
  15. I am not sure about burning. You see, burning the metal Allomantically makes the Allomancer Invested, right? Well, another way to put it: What is the in-world term for an "Invested object"? Roshar: infused object; Nalthis: Awakened object: Scadrial: -/filled metalmind/- and so on.
  16. So, what are the terms used by those not cosmere aware for Investiture and Investing? Investiture: Roshar: Stormlight Scadrial: - /Feruchemical charge/ Hemalurgical charge Nalthis: BioChromatic Breath Sel: Dor Investing: Roshar: Infusing (a gem, Surgebinder infuses himself) Scadrial: Allomancy: ??? Feruchemy: filling metalmind Hemalurgy: ??? Nalthis: ??? Sel: ??? Any help? (also, quotes would be very useful as I am also trying to determine how these terms were translated)
  17. Yeah, chromium Misting paramedic could be very efficient. In situations when time is of essence...
  18. I never bothered to memorise the angle identities (you know, like what is the sin(7/4*pi - x)?). I just imagine the graph and from there it's simple.
  19. C++. It's not like I haven't done in C++ before. And even printing refused to work. When 'Hello World' doesn't work, something is wrong. I was staring at ideone.com and thinking "what the storms?" On another note, today starts the "Mafia" city game. I am participating. Each participant is simultaneuously the hunter and the victim. Each participant is given a white glove to "kill" his target with. Info about target is delivered to my mail and I know the name, the photo, work or/and university. I have to locate the person and tap on the shoulder with gloved hand. If target sees me coming, (s)he can raise hand and declare "Defense". It gives invulnerability for 30 minutes, can be used once a day. After a week there is a reassingment of targets so I have seven days to "kill" the target. I was lucky cause my target didn't think to protect FB account from strangers. Oh well. Now I know how old my target is and I've seen more photos and I know more stuff. A game like that makes you think about all the information you're leaving everywhere on the net. Last year nobody managed to locate me, though, so maybe I protect my info well. Or just none of my hunters were good at search-fu. Let's see what's it gonna be this year... Let the hunt begin.
  20. The revised Polish edition of WoR had some changes (those which Brandon made, as you remember - ending and stuff). Unfortunately, nobody thought to check other things... So Hoid instead of saying that perfect pitch makes things easier says that perfect tuning makes things easier. Ooops, there it goes the Warbreaker reference. And Diagram code is still stormed up. You're definitely a Sanderfan when your leisure time activity is decoding the wrong code to know how they translated the message and then coding it right. I am gonna put it on the fansite, though, so it's kinda productive, right?
  21. I wrote a very, very simple piece of code, but I did it online (as I don't have anything installed on the computer here). I don't know whether it's my curse of anihilating technology or something's weird, as it compiles without errors and yet fails to do anything. It's like you tried to add 1 and 2 and the numbers refused to become three and your result instead of 3 is 1+2. Or something like that I don't even know what's happening. Gotta go sleep.
  22. I'm not sure boosting your senses has any effect on allergy (unless you have rash on skin - then the itching could drive you crazy). But the whole sneezing/running nose thing? That has nothing to do with senses. No matter whether your nose is great or terrible, it's about the allergen contacting yourself.
  24. Well, storing too much strength may kill you because your heart would become too weak to pump blood. I assume that if you store too much heat you go into hypothermia. While we have nothing on the adverse effects of overtapping, my personal headcannon is that you can't heat yourself above 41*C because proteins start to curdle. Brass is very good for survival, but not necessarily for combat. I know you all want to throw fireballs, but I don't think that's possible.
