  1. My first Sanderson book was Mistborn. I have never really cared for traditional fantasy books with elves, wizards, dwarves, and dragons. My roommate in college recommended it because Sanderson "could really write magic and doesn't include traditional fantasy races". I read Final Empire and I was hooked. I had no idea the rabbit hole I had dipped into though. Also I have got to add that upon finishing The Hero of Ages I, at age 27 or so, actually stood up on my bed punched the sky and screamed I was so happy with the turnout. It's still my favorite ending to book.
  2. Mine is the title of a mid-series episode of the original Fullmetal Alchemist anime. I always thought it sounded cool. And I have a great story for my gaming username. My gaming username is Rage_Fortress. One day in college my roommate was trying to start an account on World of Warcraft and was getting increasingly frustrated that everything he picked for a username had already been chosen. He tried for probably 30 minutes typing in every possible cool sounding fantasy name he could think of until finally he threw up his hands screamed "Fine! You're going to be Smite Smith Rage Fortress!" Sometimes after the lights went out I would start laughing for seemingly no reason and my roommate would be like "What?" Then I would barely choke out "Smite Smith Rage Fortress". I still crack up thinking about it. XD
  3. Periodically throughout this post I've seen people saying that the condition of Maya is like a piece of her spiritweb being cracked. It makes me wonder if a spren could bond another spren.
  4. That's not sad. Kaladin gets a cape!
  5. I'm calling it now. It's the scene where Kaladin dies. That's Kal's cape and spear. The rest of the spears are Bridge 4 raising their spears in remembrance.
  6. Thank you. That's what I suspected. As for some reason that era seems to be the most present of the books. Maybe because I'm having to wait in between books.
  7. This makes me wonder when approximately her entries in Arcanum Unbounded are supposed to have been written. It's known it's before SotD. But where in relation to Mistborn and Stormlight does it take place.
  8. LOL. I really need a re-read.
  9. That makes sense I forgot it was an Adolin pov. I am surprised Shallan didn't correct him though. You know kind of a "Calm down sweetie...no one is dead."
  10. So, I've only read Oathbringer once and I'm still a little confused. Oathbringer spoilers follow.
  11. I won't deny that Sanderson's writing is very anime-esque. If fact sometimes when I'm reading I find scenes that I think were completely inspired by certain anime series. I end up seeing a lot of Fullmetal Alchemist in Sanderson's work. Probably because that's one of my favorite series. And someone on this site once posted a Stormlight abridged where Sly was the most tsundere (I can't ever remember how to spell that) character ever and I found it hilarious. I guess what I should have said was "instead of the over the top exaggeration that is anime" I would prefer "Overpowered/epic of a live action feature." If they made it into an anime series I would still watch it, because it's Sanderson. I would just always have that "What if it had been live action?" thought going through my head.
  12. I loved Doctor Strange for all of the cosmere connections. They drew "Aons". They changed the direction of Gravity making wall walking possible. They re-wrote the history of things using the time stone. It actually gave me very high hopes for the Cosmere movies.
  13. I'll try not to get my hopes up too high but the more positive reaction makes me want to make a special trip to go pick it up.
  14. I think any of Sanderson's work would be fine as an anime as long as they stayed away from terrible anime tropes. I used to really love anime. I've kind of grown to dislike all the super power levels, final forms, gratuitous fan-service, gratuitous screaming, single shots of everyone in the room half-laughing at something that isn't really funny, character stereotypes. It just all grates on my nerves now. I do still have a soft spot for my favorite series when I was a teen though. Hard not too as much time as I put into enjoying them.
  15. This. Just This. I love the realistic portrayal of mental illness. Sometimes it is one step forward and two steps back. Development is change. Positive or negative. I will admit this book was slower going for me but I loved the direction they took each character. I probably won't know for sure if I find the book underwhelming until my second time reading it. I'm still in the phase of first read through giddiness.
  16. Twelve is my favorite followed by ten, eleven, and four. Despite the fact that eleven is only my third favorite. He's the most like me in personality. I'm a really big happy kid all the time. XD
  17. It's a sonic screwdriver from the show Doctor Who. The picture was taken at a nerd-con. My friend was taking pictures and she said I didn't look excited enough to be at a convention, so over exaggerated a bit. LOL.
  18. This is such a cool theory and your username is awesome.
  19. Sixth of the Dusk is my absolute favorite short story. I've not read a lot of short stories but of all that I have read SotD stands out as just superbly written. The twist at the end was so well foreshadowed, I never saw it coming. The setting was interesting. The magic system was unique. It was tense. it's just fantastic.
  20. I had forgotten that she started off as Honest. I wonder if her beauty further increased after changing her name. Maybe it was a progression thing. She starts off looking like her mortal self, When told she's a god, her appearance changes to that of Natalie Portman. Then upon changing her name to "The Beautiful", bam Morena Baccarin. Inara is the exact character I picture.
  21. How does this work with when they first Return? Do they start off looking like they did when they died and then over time encompass the new name that is given to them? How did Blushweaver know she had to be beautiful? Also, wouldn't their perception of beauty kind of be shaped by what the general "ideal" of beauty was. I see Morena Baccarin (Hope I spelled that right) when I think of Blushweaver. How would she know to look like Morena if someone else thought Natalie Portman was attractive. Finally, if I was called Footlooser would I end up looking like Kevin Bacon? I don't know if I could handle that.
  22. That is a lot of present tense. LOL. Thanks
  23. Is there a WoB on if Bavadin still holds Autonomy? Because if there was ever a shard that would develop a mind of it's own I would imagine it would be that one.
  24. I'd be offended if I didn't agree with you.
