  1. Not only that, but it was pretty obvious that she was aging. She didn't really believe she wasn't aging, she just really didn't want to admit the truth to herself. Not to the same extent as Shallan, but still a lot. The idea of aging terrified her, even more than normal.
  2. Working on the assumption that the bindpoints used in Hemalurgy are just physical locations that are related to a specific point of your spiritweb, rather than a creation of Hemalurgy, I have another of my signature crackpot ideas. Using a piece of wood, so it definitely isn't hemalurgic, could you carve some Aon on it such that when the wood is placed on a bindpoint and the Aon is activated, you get some effect related to your spiritweb corresponding to that bindpoint? To clarify with an example, you are a pewterarm, and there is a pewter bindpoint in the earlobe (if that isn't the case, roll with it but tell me). If you put the right Aon there, could you push power through your web such that you use the Dor to either make it so you get the effect of burning pewter without burning any, or make any pewter burn you do more powerful? Could it re-filter the power through the context of pewter allomancy to give you enhanced pewter. It would be a lot like a nicrosil tap, at least it is with how I envision it. I'm going to assume I worded this horribly (even though I ran it by @Extesian in the discord first to try to make it sensible). If people don't get this at all, yell at me so I know which part(s) are broken. This is something I've never seen considered before, really.
  3. @ethan_sedai the problem here is that there isn't really anything in what you've said that points to Preservation knowing anything special about the weapon, just his weapon-- the atium cache. You basically just have a bunch of tangentially related stuff that isn't all accurate in the first place. The reason the Atium cache was important was because if Ruin reacquired the power of that atium, it would give him just enough of an edge over the power of Preservation that Vin's sacrifice wouldn't have quite killed him. P called it a weapon, but it was more like defanging Ruin. The ratio of Atium mistings was definitely 1/16. 1/16 of people were snapped (ie mistfallen), and 1/16 of those were atium mistings. Those other metals you mentioned don't matter because they either actually weren't part of the system right then (Sazed played with it a bit), or there was no real access to the metal so pretty much only Vin knew about it. And finally, I see absolutely zero evidence that individual metals point to a specific Shard. That atium/malatium were removed from being in the 16 to having chromium/bendalloy added is plenty of counter evidence. (someone more familiar with how that happened? I'm not 100% on that being true) Cool idea though. Keep up that kind of thought and you'll blow minds sooner or later.
  4. I recently discovered an anime that gave off huge Warbreaker vibes. There are so many similar characters and plot points it was almost painful, but ended up hilarious instead. The anime is Soredemo Sekai wa utsukushii. The English translated title is The World is still Beautiful. Like, for a short summary of some of the similar elements without spoilers here's this. A princess with a special power tied to her royal lineage gets married off to the 'Big Bad King' to prevent a war between the two countries. The king turns out to be a nice guy, and hijinks ensue. The priests get involved with their relationship. There are assassination attempts from minority groups. This show is meant to be a romance with a bit of com attached, but it usually takes itself fairly seriously. I couldn't take it seriously much of the time, though, since I was laughing too hard at the similarities. I had a great time. I don't think the show was particularly good on its own, but it was great with the Warbreaker context. Lemme know if you end up laughing at this like I did. Or have done in the past, I guess.
  5. Love me some axis and allies. I played Scythe for the first time a few days ago, and it's the first non-RP physical game that has piqued my interest in over a decade. I lost handily- like 81-36(me)-20ish... I'll second @Elenion. D&D and Edge are both fantastic games. I also cannot abide any of the 'train games' besides Empire Builder. Like, actively hate them, rather than the usual indifference. Scratch that first statement. I did learn the rules to Go a year or so back. That's good stuff. I thought about it so much I was playing against myself in my sleep that night... I like chess, but I'm not some grand master or something. I'll beat any chump off the street but no one who plays seriously. Learned to play when I was 3. That is my claim to fame. Generally though, the moment you attach board to my games, I get bored. There's a good reason those words sound the same. To speak to the real topic, I used to play Mage Knights with my uncle. That was pretty decent, and certainly expanded my horizons.
  6. Staying organized is practically a given. On the other hand, there is absolutely zero chance of them collectively organizing a spy network. Some of the spren and/or humans will object to it morally, and the orders aren't even that cohesive in the first place. There was infighting with the old Radiants. I see no reason why there wouldn't be at least some in the future. Opposing people, Orders, and entire factions will almost certainly be a thing.
  7. Another consideration, long term wise, is that once all this Desolation silliness is over, it'll be people spying on other people, who could potentially have spren of their own that can more easily peep out the spies. I'd say it's not a large scale, Big Brother type threat, and also pretty limited. The people we have seen use it so far have pretty much had free reign to do so, but that won't always be the case. Also, if you want privacy, make a Blade, and stick it in the dirt outside. Just keep up the mental command to keep it that way. No more peeping spren. (assuming that actually works, of course)
  8. Naw, the way I see it is that Dalinar just gave up the Regency. Elhokar has always been king, just in the same way that a four year old can be 'king.' Elhokar just basically said that he was done with that, and made Dalinar recognize his authority. Simple. On the other hand, he still needed Dalinar to really be in charge of things, since he's the only one in a position to get things done and, y'know, save the world. Elhokar's solution was really quite elegant, I think. What with the voidbringers actions that we've seen so far, my vision of the desolation has already been shattered beyond recognition. In a desolation of old, humanity would already be gone, frankly. The parshmen would have suddenly turned into destroyers right in the middle of doing something, and just ripped right through all the surprised civilians around them. With no civilians to provide support and maintain infrastructure, there is no way to maintain any kind of military presence. Most of humanity would have died within an hour, with the rest to get systematically picked off until it's done. I couldn't reconcile that idea with 10 books before, but it looks like we are going to end up with a drawn out campaign in the first 5, and who knows what in the back 5. I'm really interested to see where this goes, especially since I think humanity will end up with Listener allies. I can't see Brandon wasting their potential to make them just the next orc variant... It's just gotta be better than that.
  9. Alright, finally getting around to posting on this. Personal theory: Elhokar is going to be the Windrunner we get saying Oaths in this book. He is super idolizing our surly Windrunner friend, and actively trying to protect the citizens of Kholinar. This theory only applies if he doesn't end up a Lightweaver, since the Cryptics are watching him. I'm calling that the Oathgates will get opened pretty quickly so that everyone can get together and start researching. This is supposed to be a largely lore oriented book anyway. I'm honestly really excited to see if we get a 100 page expo dump, which would be fantastic (for those of us with patience, anyway). Calling something else in advance: not all of the Listeners will end up on the wrong side, and I'm not even counting the exiles of Narak. There probably aren't enough Odiumspren to go around, since there's probably a lot more of them now than in the past. In the past it was probably more like the orcs coming down from their peaks to pillage, and now they are more cultivated. My bet is that the Listeners will form their own nations, and some of them will go to war to carve out their own place in the world, independent of the influence of Odium. I just can't see humanity surviving with them being so passive right now considering how ill prepared they are, and with all the logistical issues the humans will have. I'm also expecting a fair number of Listeners to join team Urithiru, again not counting the Narak exiles. They are clearly gearing up for invasion, but I can see it going both ways, depending on how everything plays out. I'm really interested to see where this goes.
  10. heh, you know that was just a movie quote... (that moment when I realize I don't have the faintest clue which movie that comes from)
  11. Fair, I will concede that point. This begs the question though, you got a problem with 'dat, boy?
  12. Naw, just that this is your problem. Everyone has problems. Anyone who looks like they don't just has a problem of being either dishonest or manipulative. I'm one of the latter ;p
  13. @ILuvHats yes, that is correct, as Calderis stated. @ethan_sedai for the love of all that is reasonable, please don't double post like that. Especially with such small posts... If you have more to say and nothing new to reply to, just edit your post. You can find the button for that at the bottom of your posts. I can see that at least one of your posts have been edited (I assume it was you and not a mod), so just do that. Also, why are you still on about the Adonalsium killer? The whole basis for your idea was shown conclusively to be false. If you have more evidence, I'd love to see it, since I'm very interested in the Weapon. My current head-canon for that is that it's buried on Threnody. I feel like there might be WoB against that, though... I can't remember off the top of my head. I know we have discussed it in the past if you want to search for the thread. Also, instead of saying someone is ridiculous, you could just say that your guess is different, and ask if they have a source for theirs. As a hint, if someone's post count (below their name and profile pic) is in the thousands, they probably know what they are talking about. Not always, and a lot of what people say is conjecture, but at least they've been around long enough to have posted that much, and therefor usually know enough to make decent guesses. Lower post counts like mine can mean any number of things. In my case I've been around a long time, but don't post as much as some people. (looking at you, Calderis and Extesian <.<)
  14. Simple enough. Do we know if you can spike the part of you that defines your birthplace? If yes, could you get a few of those and gain Selish magic?
  15. Well I'm definitely rejoicing. Much thanks. Your solution made me laugh too.
  16. Heh, yours were generally the best in the thread. There were some that were generally missing even the rhyme though, so I just pretend they were freeform. I have a very similar meter in my head, but I looked at it on wikipedia to make sure, which is why I mention it's different in my head.
  17. I second both of those sentiments. A few of these were frankly painful to read while trying to somehow make them fit. For those who don't know/remember, the structure is AABBA for rhyme and 9/9/6/6/9 for beats with the emphasis on the third beat in triples (though in my head I always seem to do 8/8/5/5/10). I guess I need to contribute another if I'm posting here tho, so here goes... Edgedancer spoilers, I guess. There once was an Aimian cremling The main body it was assembling Up the leg in a rush In the gut was a crush The sight left Lift all a'trembling.
  18. I hear and pronounce it both ways, just whatever fits what I've already been saying I guess. Good stuff, just not exactly the cheapest.
  19. There once was a man named Calderis Who crafted a pun about fair Khriss The pun was quite bad But was all to be had So was naught to do but forgive this. That was pretty bad... maybe another. We have all come to the Shard Crafting theories is really quite hard When we get Word of Brandon An ovation we're standin' And my brain becomes heavily charred. That's a bit better.
  20. Well, even if they do awaken more metal, it wouldn't necessarily be something destructive like NB. If I awakened, say, a shovel, I could command it to 'Dig Things' and there would be no need for the insanity of NB. It could just be something commanded to philosophize over everything, and it would by necessity be intelligent. I think that we are equating sentience with destructive potential, but that isn't necessarily the case. Interesting theory, though I do agree with Extesian's counter-points.
  21. For the 17s specific version, I'd go with the Cosmere Archive, or something similar. Maybe a bastardization of Palanaeum like Palinium that is easier to spell.
  22. Oh, I thought I remembered Jasnah mentioning it to Shallan as a mystery the scholars didn't get... I guess I'm off on that. I guess the blood message wasn't widely known, I thought it was. I at least thought more people knew of it, even if the message was kept secret.
  23. Is there any evidence that he could read? IIRC, people thought he secretly learned how because Szeth wrote with his blood and assumed it was Gavilar, but was there anything else indicating he did? It just suddenly started bugging me...
  24. I think the 'claws' aren't part of her cloak either. The cloak stops where her leg begins. It looks like a rip in her leggings, maybe with some blood on them. I personally prefer the US cover, but I think both could have been better. At least somewhat.
