  1. Fabrial (def): A means of making mechanical Surgebinding as well as manipulation of the Ten Essences Southern Medallions (def): The mechanical Allomancy we've been looking for
  2. Am I the only one who thinks that Wayne's gun on AoL's cover is a shotgun? I'm just saying that the cover artist may have been smuggling atium, duralumin, and a special piece of Nicrosil...
  3. There are two kinds of Feruchemical attributes. There are nondepletable attributes, like weight, speed, breath, determination, etc. Then there are depletable attributes, like memories or energy or identity. Investiture is likely one of the latter. The Bands were not running low on the Mettalic abilities themselves, but on the attributes it granted. Everyone seems to think that Investiture is nondepletable, but there is a finite amount of Investiture. You can increase your personal Investiture by Compounding Nicrosil, but that draws on the Shards themselves, something that pure Feruchemy never does.
  4. Should we tell Chaos?
  5. There serves no functional point for having copper in the Bands. To make them undetectable, you would have to fill them with every single memory you possess, which would be kind of a letdown. What does this do? Allow you to make the Flash resemble a guy on a treadmill. This one lets you burn every single metal. This one lets you see a lot of empty walls that a person filled this metalmind with to make the copper part undetectable to Allomancy.
  6. Electrum Feruchemy? Whichever one is determination. You spend a few weeks kinda emo, then you get a level of determination rivaled only by mother bears defending young. Unstoppable soldier, police officer, detective, really any job that requires a lot of effort on your part. Either of the external physical metals/chromium and nicrosil for testing people in sporting events for metals (Hmm...what effect do steroids have on internal physical Allomancy?) While I'm sure they will have games that revolve around the use of Allomancy, similar to a game on Legend of Korra, there will doubtless be events where the Metallic Arts are forbidden, requiring careful detection for steel, iron, tin, pewter, electrum, bendalloy, and cadmium. Everything else is fairly useless for most events. Metalminds, with the possible exception of goldminds, would be forbidden. I'm noticing how much we reference Legend of Korra. It actually does many aspects of what Sanderson is trying to do quite well. The Airbenders are actually quite similar to the Terris. Actually, it's weird how close they are to each other.
  7. And over time, the Awakener cloak could have evolved into what we know as a mistcloak. It's definitely something to ask Sanderson about.
  8. Something that should be noted is that even though Sazed has power beyond any that we have encountered in any other character at any given time, he doesn't know everything. He can guess fairly well, but not know. Also, throughout the three books we've seen Wax deal with Lessie's death in multiple ways. In AoL he pushed it down, in SoS he kept pushing it down until it exploded at the end, and in BoM we see him truly get over Lessie by finding someone who can soften the pain. I would wager to say that Wax's story arc is nearly done. He doesn't have a whole lot of glaring shortcomings that need fixing. Other characters, however, have their own problems to work out. Steris' mostly being useless, Wayne trying to figure out where to go after letting Ranette go, and Marasi trying to figure out exactly who she is and what part of Scadrial she belongs in. Although, if Wax has a child, then everything's going to be crazy after that.
  9. This seems like the type of thing Sanderson puts in there to send us going after red herrings. As far as I know, we haven't had the POV of a worldhopper after they were a worldhopper.
  10. We have been told that it is possible for a Shard to be reformed after it has been Shattered. Perhaps Trell is the new holder of Dominion or the Dominion/Devotion combination.
  11. To get the thread back on topic... In the graveyard scene, doesn't Marasi wonder why there aren't any memorials for the final resting place of Spook? If so, the reason could be that none exist.
  12. Why would there be?
  13. It stands to reason that the Bands of Mourning were not truly made of 16 metals. For example, copper. While I'm sure copper Feruchemy was inside the Nicrosil portion of the Bands, it doesn't seem logical for copper as part of the Bands. Unless it has all of Kelsier's memories on it, in which case it would be amazing. Can anyone else think of other metals that could be left out of the Bands?
  14. CarolaDavar....I'm going to put Thoughtward in this closet...and walk away while you do the same...
  15. You loose your keyboard. I think it's in the conference room. I wish for the ability to walk on the Sun without dying from anything someone may die of while attempting to walk on the Sun.
  16. Two words: Red Ferring
  17. Why did Vin cross the road? Nobody knows. Mistborn need not make sense.
  18. Is the Well of Ascension in Kredik Shaw? In the Minecraft version, that is. If I had Minecraft, I would want to make the Shattered Plains or something.
  19. Too many spoilers, but I don't think the BoM were actually spikes.
  20. Bendalloy Feruchemy and cadmium Allomancy, with a Allomantic duralumin spike. I wait out the apocalypse using cadmium and duralumin inside a bunker and survive by eating all my resources on day one and Feruchemically making it work.
  21. Allomancy, by definition, requires a continuous supply of metals. Also, if this is in our world, nicrosil and chromium Allomancy are fairly useless. Feruchemy can't make speed bubbles, but the only practical advantage they have over speed Feruchemy is that you can live a lot longer by having a suspended-animation cadmium bubble. So I choose Feruchemy, since it has considerable benefits over Allomancy and I have a budget.
  22. What exactly is a Julia set?
  23. It fell and was brought back to life. Kaladin is like Kelsier.
  24. I count myself lucky, then. There is currently nowhere that I know of that these things can be discussed, but apparently something is in the works.
  25. I have a dream, that one day my chasmfiend herd will be judged not on the size of their gemhearts, but on the size of their character.
