Hello. Honor Spren, care to join the Light?
-
You can only burn pure metal, it requires an Allomancer with enormous power to pull on the metals inside a person. A Nicrosil compounder may be able to do this or something similar. It has been confirmed that, perhaps with a nicroburst or Leecher, a Steel Inquisitor could burn their spikes while they are inside the various parts of the body, i.e. they can burn their eyespikes or chest spikes. This would lead to death in the case of many Hemalurgists, but there is no reason why there can't be Allomancy shots or something. Swallowing the metal is of course preferred in many cases, but may provide an answer to possible storage spots.

A tin foil hat would be worse than useless if Allomancers are involved. It could be used to snap the wearer's neck with a good push or pull. Aluminum, though... I wonder if Sanderson knew what he was doing when he made 1) a power that could, in a sense, control someone's mind and 2) aluminum as a metal that, when used as/in a hat, will protect you from the aforementioned power. Basically, he made aluminum foil hats a legitimate protection from mind control.

I think we all discriminate against mistwraiths. Just because they are light blue, transparent/translucent, and have amoeba-like abilities, we assume they are gooey. There is no evidence that they are gooey, in fact, the one Vin saw in TFE was clean of ash and plant debris as would be indicative of gooeyness. Carry on. I don't mean to derail this thread.

There is really only one way to get the information MeLaan needs: a pregnant woman needs to die and be digested by a kandra. It's a bit gruesome, but a lot of things with Hemalurgy are.
-
According to the Mistborn annotations, the thing about Elend and Straff being German names was a fluke, and they were supposed to sound French. That's all I know.
-
It seems more likely to me that if a Pulser is in aluminum armor and they put up a speed bubble, they would be frozen and not anyone around them.
-
Aluminum neutralizes all Allomancy we know of. I have a thread on Mistborn about aluminum and time bubbles.

With the fall of the Steel Curtain preventing spoilers of Bands of Mourning outside of the spoiler board, I am pleased to announce the Hemalurgy Recovery kit! If you have been spiked by the Dark Alley, you can recover using our supply of stolen Hemalurgic spikes and metalminds! Spoilers for BoM You are now spike free! You have had damage done to your Spiritweb that will have unknown ramifications, and your ability to retain the stolen abilities is uncertain, but you no longer have to be careful when changing in fear of catching your shirt on your spike. To be eligible for the kit, you must give a link to the post where you accepted the 'cookie'. And to the DA, from whom I stole the Hemalurgic spikes: I am only trying to right wrongs. Also, your storage room is disgusting. I think some of the spikes with Allomantic enhancements have something growing in them.

What would happen if someone burning aluminum was Pushed or Pulled by emotional Allomancy?
-
Aluminum has been shown to have a generally neutralizing effect on Investiture, from being resistant to Pushes/Pulls to serving as a visible Coppercloud (neutralizing emotional and Bronze Allomancy) as well as having no atium shadow and wiping all a Mistborn's metals. So what would happen if you were to put something (a clock for the purpose) inside an aluminum-lined box and put up a speed bubble where the box was inside the bubble? I theorize that the clock would be immune to the time-distorting affects of the bubble. Thus, I propose that Sliders and Pulsers will very enthusiastically buy aluminum clocks to keep the right time. I realize that we are getting into wibbly-wobbly bubbly-wubbly stuff here.

He's a High Epic, and not the kind that you can kill by shooting at the right time. You would have to drop enormously powerful nukes on him to possibly do something.

[Bands Spoilers] Redshift - because someone has to!
Stormgate replied to aeromancer's topic in Mistborn
There is, I believe, a shimmering, visible border to speed bubbles. This shimmering could be the speed bubble adjusting the photon's wavelength/frequency. -
I usually don't write the kind of story that has long names be a good idea. Completely independent of my ability to make unusual names, I came up with a magic system based on names, so I could use that for my strange names.

I don't think so. He's twelve years old and never had a problem with his immune system like this, so probably not. -
A rain of shrdblades?[WoR spoilers ahead!]

If the Stormfather turns into a Shardblade, he will die. I have nothing to base this on. -
Perhaps time? Change? Nature seems too...specific.

From the shattering to the true desolation

If people swear to give up power Invested in them and they refuse, they will indeed be dishonorable and worthy of being turned into Roshar's first bunny rabbits. -
I thought that it was along the lines of some of them having really weird Intents.
-
Where people are, so is the Cognitive Realm. You can walk from Roshar to Scadrial. I have no idea how long it would take, but you could.

I am in a creative writing class, and we have to write a short story. I came up with the idea of a dragon that thinks it's a unicorn, and it escalated from there. So, I have this. It is fairly large. I would appreciate any and all constructive feedback. At this point I am aware that it is not an especially good piece. If something doesn't work, I ask that you quote that particular part of the story so I don't have to comb through the whole thing looking for the issue. It isn't all typed up yet, and I still have a good chunk of pages left.

My problem is names. For some reason, no matter what I write or do, if the main character is male, he is Jacob. I often try to give the main character other names, but I then accidentally write 'Jacob' instead of whatever it was I decided the character was. I am great at coming up with names for cities or something. I take a random word and write the letters that pop into my head. Shard: Shailroarvith. Just now. They aren't usually that long though, but for some reason that one is. The point is, you can have a city or kingdom or even planet named Shailroarvith, but what kind of person names their child Shailroarvith? The point is, how in the name of Trell Adonalsium can I think of good names?

My little brother, who has Down Syndrome, is a cheerful, happy little boy who brings a light into my home. Last night, my mom got a call from the doctor FROM HIS HOUSE telling her to take him to the hospital. For the past several days, he has been sick, and the other night I noticed a rash on his right side. The blood work showed his platelet count, white blood cell and red blood cell count are extremely low, leaving him with basically no immune system. We're not sure yet if it's leukemia or a nasty virus. -
When my friend had not read BoM and I had, I had a revelation that using Connection Feruchemy is how Hoid can speak Alethi, Scadrian, etc.
