Honestly, I really want to know what would happen if a Misborn tried to burn a piece of Shardplate.

Odium is defined in OB to be the shard of Passion, perhaps another one for softer emotions?

What's YOUR Talent?
Stormgate replied to Silus - Shard of Flame's topic in Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians
Talent: worrying about things that never happen. Use: looks slightly into the future, so people know what to prepare for. So they never happen, but they could. Also, has anyone seen my socks? I can't find them anywhere. Maybe they've been taken by household animals and put on a stock-exchange like system so I'll never get them back ever. Or, they're under my bed. -

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Stormgate replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When you want to explain how the SA deals with mental illness, but your explanation somehow involves spren and you think "This sounds crazy. How do I make it not crazy?" Spoiler alert: It's hard. -
Is aluminum lacking a spiritual or cognitive aspect? Are the abilities of the different Allomantic metals related to the base effect of the Investiture of other Shards? (life sense for Breaths being like Bronze, physical capacities of Stormlight being like pewter, sand mastery's ability to neutralize tendrils of other sand masters being like either aluminum or chromium, etc.)
-
There are two types of things that resist Investiture use: aluminum and highly Invested items. In the Wax and Wayne books, it is mentioned a few times that metalminds are harder to manipulate with Allomancy. In WoR, shield fabrials are introduced that charge the shield with so much Investiture it resists being cut by Shardblades. It is significant, I think, that the only thing Nightblood absolutely cannot break is the aluminum sheath. I've written on aluminum in the past. My personal favorite theory is that it was used to (Cosmere spoilers) I don't know if I needed a spoiler, but this is the SA forum. In any case, aluminum is weird, but it works in what seems to be the opposite way of Shardblades and Plate.

Thank you for that. That does make sense. Since it's relevant, the link to the Coppermind page with the epigraphs is https://coppermind.net/wiki/Oathbringer/Epigraphs#Urithiru_Gem_Archive

How do you know it was the same Radiant? There is nothing obvious to me to indicate it.

To summarize what I know: Three Realms, physical, cognitive, spiritual Investiture helps pierce all three Most Investiture resides in the Spiritual Realm, besides Sel The Cognitive Realm changes from planet to planet, is shaped by people's perceptions I know about Adonalsium, the Shattering. Shards I know about in depth: Preservation (Leras) & Ruin (Ati), Harmony (Sazed) Honor (Tanavast) Cultivation (Unknown name) Endowment (Edgli) Odium (Rayse) Devotion and Dominion (Aona and Skaze) I've read Secret History and Oathbringer, and understand the implications of that. I'm mainly looking for WoB answers, like: What is Hoid's mission? (I'm guessing we have a big fat RAFO on that) Is there anything new to know about aluminum? What new Shards do we know of? (Names, planets, etc).

That may be true, it could also be that Glys doesn't have those memories yet, or they have been corrupted. Remember, Syl's memory was very limited in WoK and especially in WoR. The idea that more Truthwatcher spren were corrupted brings up more, very interesting questions.

This quote, one of the OB epigraphs, obviously indicates the Radiant who used this gemstone had some ability to see into the future. From looking at other epigraphs (that will not be cited here for convenience), I can assume that the gemstone indicates the order of Radiant. Those claiming to be Stonewards always use topaz, for instance. Emerald is the gemstone associated with Truthwatcher. Glys is the only Truthwatcher spren we know of that has been corrupted to grant the Knight the ability to see the future. I believe this message was from one of Glys' former Radiants.

I was out of the 17th Shard loop for a few years, so I'm hoping to get caught up on what we know. What revelations in Shardic theory, Realmatic theory, how Investiture works, and more have been revealed from August 2016-August 2018? Don't be afraid of any spoilers.

When somebody that you're sort of interested in brings up (on their own) Lightweavers, and they immediately become 10x more attractive. -

The Ten Orders: How They do Everyday Things
Stormgate replied to little wheel's topic in Stormlight Archive
How the orders play Monopoly: Windrunners: Play by the rules at first, but gets exasperated quickly. Discovers covert Adhesion can be used to rig dice. Skybreakers: Has read the rules many times, keeps the pamphlet of rules close on hand, and Harmony help the one who suggests "House rules" (I know Harmony is on a different planet, but we're running low on benevolent Shards on Roshar). Begs the Windrunner to use Adhesion on pieces in Jail. Dustbringers: Tries to singe 0's on the end of the money to make it seem they have more than they do. Nobody believes them. They also rack up the prices on auctions. Some men just want to watch the world burn... Edgedancers: Somehow, their piece always slides past Jail. Truthwatchers: They decided not to play. However, they did make popcorn to watch the chaos. Lightweavers: Taking notes from the Dustbringers, they have Lightwoven money. Not making the money worth more, they just make some players seem more successful than they are. This leads to overconfidence, and, occasionally, people ganging up on the victim. Elsecallers: They win the game. Every time. The rest have started planning games around when they are gone. Willshapers: They are not good at the game, but they do enjoy picking a new piece each time. This irritates everyone who has their own piece. As an offering to the Willshaper, the rest have made a custom Monopoly piece for them to stop the thievery. Stonewards: They will not give up Park Place. They will die on that hill, and die they do. Every. Time. Bondsmiths: Monopoly by nature drives men apart. As does Uno and MarioKart. They do not play any of these.- 166 replies

One of my favorite songs is Unpack Your Heart by Phillip Phillips. After reading Oathbringer, and thinking on the rest of the series, I was able to come up with a scene that matched just about every scene. Examples: "Bring your secrets," --Shallan in a Lightwoven replica of her room "Bring your scars"--A single shot of Kaladin's brands, and so on. Thoughts? I just thought it fit well with the Knights Radiant as a whole.
