  1. Asked and answered. Yes we can.
  2. Another hint: there's imaginary food and gigantic stuffed reptiles.
  3. An old guy with suicidal tendencies takes an acrophobe's two most important things, this causes him (the acrophobe, not the old guy) to regress to a child-like state.
  4. Yes, indeed. Go for it Blaze.
  5. Man develops an unhealthy attachment to a sporting good.
  6. Yup, we'll probably have to wait for the 'contemporary' trilogy to get the clue we need. I think it will have something to do with the southern hemisphere way of using allomancy and/or feruchemy.
  7. That gave it away. 3 (or 6) days of the condor.
  8. A koloss walks into a bar, the bartender asks: "Why so blue?" Why did the kandra hesitate to take a dog's body? -It gave him paws. Tineyes are funny, but it's a slow burn.
  9. Sorry to burst your time bubble, but that WoB has been overturned by this one (link to Kurkistan's "Everything we know about time bubbles")
  10. Do I get points for noticing that's Pi times 3? (Yay, Pie ) There's so much in your sig Voidus, most of it amusing, all of it functional. I do have to penalise you for misspelling "Cookies", though. 7/10
  11. Don't have one, that site confuses me and I can never find anything. Might be worth trying it though.
  12. Nice literary quote but, while true, it's a bit too sweet for my tastes: I still give it a 8,5/10
  13. "It was the best of goats, it was the worst of goats, it was the goat of wisdom, it was the goat of foolishness, it was the goat of belief, it was the goat of incredulity, it was the goat of Light, it was the goat of Darkness, it was the billy of hope, it was the nanny of despair, we had everything before goat, we had nothing before goat, we were all going direct to goat, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative goat of comparison only." - Charles Dickens, A tale of two Goats "This is my goat. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My goat is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My goat, without me, is useless. Without my goat, I am useless. I must fire my goat true. I must goat straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must goat him before he goats me. I will..." - extract from the goatman's creed Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. But we think you're crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us - in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a goat... ...and an goat... ...and a goat case... ...a goat... ...and a crimigoat... Does that answer your question? Sincerely yours, the Goat Club. edit: <roll end credits to the song "Don't you (forgoat about me)"> I am offend. Goats!
  14. Wax being a steel savant now begs the question what the special effect from his combination of powers is. (because the steel bubble is no longer a contestant)
  15. I'm actually thinking the giant Aon Ela has something to do with using Aon Tia. Maybe if an Elantrian doesn't know exactly where he is but can still make Aon Tia work, he can refer to the big Ela in his Aon equation to return to Elantris from wherever he is without having to bother finding out exact distance and direction. Alternatively maybe it turns the center of the city into (0,0) in a Cartesian coordinate system they use with the permanent Tia stations all over the city. Dakhor was also used in Teod, which is even further from Fjorden than from Arelon. You're right in saying that we don't know what it's supposed to be like at full power, but to me the Bone Monks seemed about as powerful in Teod as they did around Kae. It's been suggested that they retain some permanent (passive) powers wherever they go on Sel, but that the more active powers (like teleportation) also grow weaker with distance from home.
  16. How about this? The metal consumed by allomantic burning is converted into investiture that gets added to Scadrial's "background investiture". If a Shard is not opposed or prevented to do so by its intent, it can periodically turn that investiture back into a physical form as metals somewhere in a mine (or as a heap of discarded paperclips on a landfill). This is consistent with the laws of thermodynamics (I think) as the investiture in the system remains constant, as well as the WoB that states that Scadrial will eventually run out of metals (if you don't take shardic intervention into account, and let's be honest, if we did, what would be the point of scientific-ish inquiry?). I thought that was an exploding TARDIS.
  17. The thing about both snapping and the Nahel bond is that there are cracks in the soul, and something uses those cracks to make modifications or attach something to the soul. (And thereby filling in the cracks, I believe, but I don't have a source on that) Hemalurgy is the opposite, you forcefully staple something onto the soul, which leaves cracks as a side effect. The "total control through emotional allomancy" and Ruin's influence over Hemalurgic constructs use the cracks in a soul as an entry point. IMO it won't work on a surgebinder because their spren already fills up those cracks.
  18. While browsing the coppermind, I came across the new map of Elantris and Kae. After looking a little closer at Elantris itself, I noticed something. Open spoiler for the big reveal. Am I the first to point this out, or was this known already?
  19. I think it had more to to with Hoid's humming, maybe he was humming the rhythm of her steel or something? And that's what subconciously weirded her out. If it was something Vin detected with bronze, the next bit - about her being instinctive and Elend needing reasons - wouldn't make sense to me.
  20. That would make autonomy either stupid or suicidal, he has to know that Odium won't leave him alive at the end, right?
  21. Well, how else are Shards supposed to get their giggles?
  22. Any Shin who even touches a weapon is forced to be a virtual slave, gets an oathstone and is traded around between Shin farmers. So I highly doubt that their religious leaders would hold an Honorblade, even if their purpose is to protect the blades. The Shin also have some pretty strict rules about the truth, so much so that they turn haggling on its head to be as honest as can be. Maybe Szeth's sin wasn't just that he lied (or was thought to be lying), but that they considered what he claimed (the desolations coming back) to be such an immense lie that the shamans declared there was no truth left in Szeth, therefore: truthless. There's a maximum of eight blades the Shin could have: 10 minus Taln and one other (unspecified) Herald who reclaimed his blade after abandoning it.
  23. Bald Benedict, now there's something I'd never pictured before.
  24. Test A Reasonable Argument, Verify All Negations, Go Inform Any Naysayers SEVENTEENTH
