  1. Do you have any friends that are Sanderfans and might be willing to split the cost with you?
  2. Where is that first quote from?
  3. Preservation + Dominion = Final Empire
  4. What makes a name holy is symmetrical-ity, not resemblance to the names of the Heralds. Since it is considered near-blasphemy to give someone an actual holy name (unless it is an honorific given by the church as in the case of "Nohadon") then parents generally change a single letter, so that it is one step away from holy (Shallash -> Shallan). This is why Vorin's refer to the heralds by different names (Jezerezeh instead of Jezrien, Nalan instead of Nale, etc) With the suffixes some use Herald names as a base (as in the case of Kaladin) but they aren't necessary. We really don't know enough about what the suffixes mean to say more.
  5. Also if they reach 1200 backers everyone who backs at least $20 gets a free pdf of the MAG! If 1200 people backed 20 dollars each the campaign would reach the 24,000 dollar stretch goal for gold/atium as well.
  6. Actually Roshone's son's name, Rillir, is also a perfect palindrome.
  7. The 17th Shard is a group of Brandon Sanderson fans. The Seventeenth Shard is a worldhopping organization whose motives and objectives are unknown, though they appear to contrast with those of Hoid. Three members of the organization are looking for Hoid in the Ishiik interlude of WoK.
  8. I wasn't trying to, I am personally of the opinion that Endowment is male I was just responding to the Elantris stuff.
  9. You have read Alloy, right? 'cause
  10. She was just talking about Mistborn.
  11. Elantris stuff
  12. Pewterarms and Coinshots can't burn aluminum...
  13. No there is a mainland separate from the Eelakin Islands.
  14. Yeah there are two main schemes when it comes to names in Vorin cultures, near-symmetrical and meaningful suffixes. Kaladin is actually based off the name of Kalak with an additional suffix KALA(k)-DIN. Most darkeyes have more simplistic names, the suffixes appear to be a more lighteyes thing. Another example of these suffixes is Nahel/Zahel.
  15. First of the Sun does not have a Shard.
  16. Okay my current guess is news on the Mistborn game.
  17. Also Roshar is far from barren, it is full of life, it just isn't Earth-like, so I'd still expect it to be fairly green, especially in the west.
  18. I think that's sort of a remnant from when Sarene was named Sarana (being based off Aon Ana instead of Aon Ene) which Brandon changed because he "Ana" looked to much like anal...
  19. Actually highstorms are totally predictable, within a certain margin of error, it's all mathematical. And it can't be that difficult if Shallan gets Wikim to start doing it in the Middlefest flashback, I doubt he had high-level mathematical experience. Now predicting them several years in advance is definitely quite a feat. Here's a link to the timeline thread btw.
  20. (I'll be using the first date in the sequence as an example) 1173090605 separates out to 1173-09-06-05 in a year-month-week-day format. The modern Vorin calender has a 500 day year made up of 10 months with 10 weeks of 5 days. So the above is the fifth day of the sixth week of the ninth month of the year 1173. (which can also be referred to as Tanatashah 1173) Somebody was able to work out an exact chronology for the main sequence of Stormlight a while back, which I will try to find and link, and these dates sync perfectly with the highstorms. We do know that all of these dates have passed since by the end of WoR they are in the year 1174. Also, I'm not going to lie I expected this to be about some sort of dating simulator game when I clicked on it...
  21. Aons are pronounced with hard vowels (where they sound like their name) so in-world it would be EE-LAYN-tris, with emphasis on the Ee-lain. However according to Brandon you can say it however you want. He generally says Eh-lawn-tris.
  22. Hmmm, as much as I want it to be White Sand, that's not with Tor either, it's with Dynamite... Maybe Alcatraz re-releases? Or 10th Anniversary of Elantris or... something else...
  23. That is true... I'd forgotten it wasn't Tor. I'm actually rather pleased as this means it is something else!
  24. This is in the UK Harcover edition, correct? The US ebook version does not have them.
