To be quite honest I'm fairly skeptical of this, though I don't know of anything that definitively disproves it. It's interesting though. On harmonium, I personally believe it is technically an alloy of atium and lerasium, in much the same way Harmony is a composite of Ruin and Preservation. With an emphasis on technically. There is a WoB floating around somewhere that I'll try to find that says that atium/lerasium alloys are incredibly complex and require an understanding of Realmatics that you need to be either a Shard or a (either Sliver or Splinter, I can't recall which) to attain. So while harmonium can be produced by mixing atium and lerasium, Sazed is the only one who can do it. So to the Scadrians harmonium is effectively a new metal. Does that make sense? (I've been thinking about this for months so I'm not exactly unbiased...) Also, why break this over so many posts? It definitely would have fit in one?

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
WeiryWriter replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
No. Absolutely not. Why would I go and do something sensible like that? ...done... Also, for those evil people who have added more questions, they will hopefully get added later today (at the very least they'll be up before the first of the year. -
Allomancy was /very/ weak back then and exceedingly rare, and there were no Mistborn, just Mistings. Alendi was Snapped by the mists. There was no lerasium equivalent of the Pits (it would have been a stupid move on Preservation's part of there was). Yes Harmony does exhibit some dual properties (like how light is a wave and a particle). However the point I was trying to make was that Harmony isn't definitely "one Shard", which is what your post was saying. There are circumstances where it is useful to think of Harmony as one Shard (like what would happen if Sazed were to die?) and there are others where it is necessary to think of Harmony as two (what kind of Intents does Sazed have to deal with?). Sorry if I'm coming across as rather harsh, this is just a huge pet peeve of mine.

Yeah, there were probably better choices to go with, but Timeless is the one that ended up being "canon". BTW in post 5 of that thread Green Hoodie Mistborn posted a link to the Twinborn names sample from the Alloy supplement for the MAG, which lists the known, canon, twinborn names.

Edit: Unfortunately this speculation has been disproved. The plague in the Purelake is actually just the common cold, which was introduced by worldhoppers. At the very end of Words of Radiance, Dalinar makes an off-hand reference to there being a plague in the Purelake. We really don't know anything about it beyond its mere existence (and even that is non-emphasized, I completely missed it in my initial read-through). I've recently been giving it some thought though, and I've randomly speculated a possible cause. We know that the Purelake is home to "magic fish" that appear to be an important part of the Purelaker culture and diet. These magic fish are a result of symbiotic bonds with spren. My speculation is this: Is it possible that Voidspren have been hijacking these bonds (or alternatively the natural spren are being corrupted in some way) and instead of bestowing some gift they are making people sick? So, thoughts?

A divine Breath might be able to do it, but I don't see normal Breath being enough to rewrite someone's genetic code.

I don't think it would be able to heal colorblindness, because there isn't anything /to/ heal. It isn't an injury or illness, they just lack of a certain kind of cell in their eye due to genetic variation. It's not even like stormlight healing bad eyesight, because there there is an actual defect that can be fixed. With colorblindness the eye works perfectly fine.

Key word there "considered". While Harmony is often /considered/ to be a single Shard, and in some cases acts like one (as it would if Sazed were to die), in reality it is still two Shards that have intermingled "to an extent". This is evidenced by the fact that Sazed still has to contend with two diametrically opposed Intents. On lerasium and Ascension: Someone once asked Brandon what would happen if someone was to burn enough lerasium to become a savant, to which Brandon replied "that's pretty much what Ascension is"

The status of Aether of Night
WeiryWriter replied to WeiryWriter's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I think you mis-understand my point. Their appearance in WoR may /show/ that they are canon but it doesn't say /why/ they are canon. That is the question I was trying to ask, as Peter points out that he hasn't seen anybody figure it out. -
Okay so Aether of Night is an unpublished book of Brandon's, which he sends out to readers who ask for it. We thought it was going to stay that way, due to various concepts being cannibalized from it (one of the Shards, Decay, became Mistborn's Ruin). Then Peter drops this bombshell on Reddit: I responded: To which he replied: So, how do the rest of you feel about this? Why are Aether's already canon (pretty sure one showed up in Mraize's treasure trove)?

Actually we think it's the other way round, Nazh working for Khriss.
-
No, but there is a not insignificant amount of time between those two events. Quite a lot has happened from her point of view, there's nothing to indicate that where she eventually came out is where she originally (over a month before) planned on going.

I went for double brass, but it's a really tough choice. Also has Green Hoodie Mistborn pointed out the term for a gold compounder is "Timeless" not "Immortal".

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
WeiryWriter replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
We do have WoB that Spook had a lot of children (and it's heavily implied in Alloy, if not out right stated since the Set is looking for young women who are descended from him) I think the actual phrasing is that he is a "stud". As for why they aren't super powerful, Sazed only made him reduced-power Mistborn (as in he was of comparable strength to the average Mistborn in the final days of the Final Empire) not a lerasium-strength Mistborn. And of course you add new questions /after/ I do a big update... -

If I remember correctly, Siri and Susebron won't really feature in Nightblood, their story is pretty much "over". Vivenna/Vasher will feature, Nightblood himself (itself?) might have a viewpoint. Brandon has mentioned the possiblity of there being a Lifeless POV, which would probably be Arsteel by my guess. Jewel/Tonk Fa are supposed to be in the book whether or not they have viewpoints, as is Yesteel. Long story short, it is /way/ to soon to really know.

Discussion on State of The Sanderson 2
WeiryWriter replied to Moash's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I guess that's possible but I don't think so. Peter's comment here implies it is still distinct (this is also where he says that he hasn't heard anything about Skyward since the last State...) -
That is a complicated question. Technically it is two, that sometimes act as one. (source) "Harmony" is not considered one of the 16 Shards of Adonalsium.

A Dissertation to End all Dissertations
WeiryWriter replied to Iredomi's topic in General Brandon Discussion
There so many things that could be discussed... What exactly is "tragic theory" though? I'm not familiar with that term. Whatever you do I would definitely email Brandon about it with any questions you have. He may not be able to answer all (or any) of them but it's worth a try. I think he would be happy that someone is putting so much thought into his work. -
Giant Transcription of SLCC Audio
WeiryWriter commented on WeiryWriter's article in Events, Signings, & Giveaways
I don't think he's talking about orchestras, those would traditionally have brass. He's more talking about a brass band (as in a band exclusively made of brass instruments) which are a more "modern" thing.
