  1. That's a great question. We don't know the answer though. It is something that has been debated but we just don't know enough to reach a conclusion.
  2. The Knights Radiant, it is mentioned in one of the Words of Radiance readings.
  3. We don't know, and we probably won't until Dalinar's flashback book which will most likely #5.
  4. Eh, I'm inclined to think there is something going on with the Ryshadium, very likely spren-related.
  5. Well it is the holiday season, a perfect time to splurge and get a book personalized with an answer you are dying for. (I'm certainly not above it either as well...)
  6. I got an early christmas gift today (from a certain robotic Brit)! It is a signed/personalized hardcover of The Way of Kings. I asked the question “Are the ‘magic fish’ of the Purelake the result of symbiotic bonds with spren?” because that is a pet theory of mine and well, here is what I got: So... I'm excited...
  7. You mean the Parshendi Dalinar fights during the Battle of the Tower? If so it is definitively false (sorry), we know that shardbearer's identity, her name is Eshonai and she has a series of interludes in WoR.
  8. But he only became a sliver after he had already been hanging around for two-ish years, so I don't really thinks so. Keep in mind as well that the other two slivers we see, Vin and Rashek (or even Leras and Ati), don't stick around, so I don't really think that really has much to do with it?
  9. He can see spren, he points them out in the prologue.
  10. I assume this means Shards in the Greater Roshar system? If so it should be at least 4. 2 on Roshar, 1 on Braize, and at least 1 on Ashyn.
  11. You can Feruchemically charge and Hemalurgically invest in the same piece of metal. More than one Feruchemist can invest in a metalmind.
  12. Connecticut, for the past 20.5 years (Except for ages 4-9 where we lived in Florida).
  13. No. Rysn points out that she doesn't see any spren. However I think that has more to do with the fact that there aren't any spren in Shinovar rather than spren are repulsed by the Shin. I don't really buy into the "spren are repulsed by Szeth" theory; just because spren haven't been described being attracted him doesn't mean he doesn't attract them. Also spren do still appear in his presence. He doesn't create a zone of no-spren around him.
  14. relevant quote from Ars Arcanum: Maybe we are talking about something different when we say "force is conserved" but I'm not seeing the problem? Also note that last bit, it is entirely possible the fabrials simply wouldn't work on opposite sides of the planet so the question is moot?
  15. New Elantris?
  16. Shallan is able to draw the cryptics because she has a "special bond" with them which is what allows her to draw them. I'm not sure that ability would extend to other spren choosing to be invisible. (I used to be a supporter of this belief but the WoB seems to indicate against it) quote for sake of context
  17. Its complicated. He has said that there are either 10 or 30 magic systems "depending on how you look at it". My interpretation of this is that each Surge, such as Gravity or Transformation, constitutes its own magic system under the "10-definition". The "30-definition" triples the number by splitting each Surge into three, depending on how it is accessed, i.e. Surgebinding/Voidbinding/Fabrials. Now Voidbinding is intuitively related to Odium yes, however the other two are not so clear. Surgebinding is often described as an Honor-based system but there are strong points towards it being a joint Honor/Cultivation system. Then again fabrials could make sense as a Cultivation-based system.
  18. It's in the Ars Arcanum.
  19. The problem is that force is conserved with pairing fabrials. You theoretically could pair a stick with a hundred different swords but the energy required to lift that stick would be equal to the energy required to lift all one hundred swords. So in practice it wouldn't really be feasible. That said a person in shardplate could might be able to make it work on a smaller scale.
  20. Kelsier is able to stick around in the Cognitive Realm because he has a strong tie to the Physical Realm (vaguely alluded to here, although that is more of a general statement). I'm of the opinion that Kelsier's "tie" is the Church of the Survivor, being worshipped as a god is what is keeping him from going into the light.
  21. The orders are numbered clockwise, starting with the Windrunners in the upper-right (the blue Jeseh glyph). Then down and to the right is the grey-ish Skybreakers, below them is the red Dusbringers. And so on and so forth. Essentially they are numbered according to the list in the Ars Arcanum.
  22. It has been asked about before, twice actually, but Brandon is being very cryptic and reluctant to share information about it so they are essentially RAFO's.
  23. I think the closest we have to what you are describing is the Character Category page(s) but it isn't restricted to just cosmere people.
  24. This is something that has been pointed out before. Brandon was asked about it here. Basically while people were created on different planets, their creators--the Shards--all share a common origin. It is only natural for there to be some linguistic similarities.
  25. I think it is referring to the quantum-locking of spren discovered in Geranid/Ashir interlude, it is what the phraseology indicates. Out of your last three candidates (I agree with discounting the others) they are the only ones that actually make a discovery. Rysn is just learning preexisting knowledge, the only thing that could be construed as a "discovery" is Vstim having held Szeth's oathstone but that feels more like an easter egg than something with "long-lasting ramifications". And Axies... He is more collecting knowledge? If that makes sense? And nothing that he learns in the interlude fits with the requirement of "long-lasting ramifications. Also Geranid/Ashir are the only ones of the last three that could really count as "random" since both Rysn and Axies are planned to show up again.
