I'm going to take this before Feather rains fire down upon you for suggesting the death of Renarin... Sell, I think Dalinar is far more likely to die than his sons. We will meet a new "uniquespren" like Cucisesh in Words of Radiance.

Tidbit from Peter's twitter on Stormlight focus chracters
WeiryWriter replied to WeiryWriter's topic in Stormlight Archive
Eshonai is Book 4 and I believe Navani is no longer getting a book, her backstory is being covered by Dalinar's book. Personally I kind of doubt Adolin will get a book, I just don't see his backstory as being that important in the way the others are. -
I think the spren symbiosis is incredibly likely, after all many creatures on Roshar have such interactions with spren.

Rosharan Genetics, We're talking hair.
WeiryWriter replied to The Rooster's topic in Stormlight Archive
Wait, does this mean Adolin and Renarin have Irali blood? I remember reading them getting their blond hairs from their mother's side of the family (I think) but I don't remember the hair being described as actual gold like the Irali. Or am I misinterpreting something?- 22 replies

So I'm super excited about this, the first video of this years session of Brandon's writing class has been uploaded to youtube! I wasn't sure if it was going to be recorded this year so this makes me very happy. Woohoo! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NJP0amotbE&feature=youtu.be&a Edit: And the second as well?!?! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfnI8ZPYBzA

Tidbit from Peter's twitter on Stormlight focus chracters
WeiryWriter replied to WeiryWriter's topic in Stormlight Archive
Ah, so that was you then? I agree that Eshonai should be counted, her name is a chapter title as well appearing on-screen. That was my conspiracy-theorist-ness rearing its dashingly-handsome head. The "second herald" doesn't refer to Nalan, sorry if that wasn't clear. A while back Brandon was talking about who would be getting flashback books and he mentioned that Taln would get one as well as another Herald. -
Disclaimer: You have no idea how hard I looked for one of the million preexisting threads discussing the Stormlight focus characters, want to know how many I found? None! Hence the new thread. So earlier today on twitter someone asked "Have all ten primary characters in the Stormlight Archive been at least mentioned in WoK?" To which Peter said "No". Now I'm interpreting "all ten primary characters" as being the focus/flashback characters. This makes me wonder though, who do we not know yet? Does Eshonai count as not being mentioned? Or perhaps is this referring to the second Herald?

March 5th Signing in S Cal is a wristband event.
WeiryWriter replied to ericth's topic in Events and Signings
I'm going to move this to the Events and Signings forums, it's more likely to be seen there. Thanks for sharing though! -

Yes he has. There was an interview Chaos had with Brandon, that I am trying to find, where Brandon told Chaos all of this. We don't have audio for it though, but since it is Chaos, I think we can trust it don't you? Last summer at SpoCon Chaos and Windy and talk about foci for one of the questions in this audio.

Sorry but that ship has already been sailing for quite some time. Kogiopsis on tumblr is the main supporter/leader of Kalarin, which is the great rival to Shallarin, led by our own FeatherWriter. As for Renarin being a woman? I don't really think so, during the Waygate Foundation livestream some people were asking for a trans/intersex character and he said he didn't have the research/resources to write an accurate character (especially live on air) so I really doubt it.

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
WeiryWriter replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
There are certain holy grottos where they are allowed to discuss their true faith, and presumably that's where/how they learn it. -
A couple notes: Commands are the focus for Awakening, there is WoB for this. I will try to find it. Gemstones being the/a focus on Roshar has been RAFO'd Commands do not need to be spoken aloud to work, the 10th Heightening grants Metal Commands. (that's how the God Kings passed on their breath to their successor despite not having tongues) Metals and Aons (which are the foci for AonDor) are Physical foci, Commands are a Cognitive focus. We don't have a definition for what a focus is, that question is an automatic RAFO. (Personally I view foci as the thing that shapes how investiture manifests) A personal theory of mine is that Roshar's focus is possibly Spiritual in nature. Edit: Also this thread might be of interest.

Vectors and Wallpapers - Surge/Voidbinding charts and more
WeiryWriter replied to Shadow Guardian's topic in Creator's Corner
I actually worry about the alethi script just yet, I think we are still deciding on how that page is going to look. Personally, I'd recommend either the HoA symbols or the AoL symbols. As for the surge/void glyphs, I did those and I'm not particularly good at that sort of thing so definitely go ahead and make better versions.- 10 replies

Its still relatively new, I think it got posted in December? And I believe AoL and WoK are roughly contemporaneous, so it would only be about 350 years, not 800. And the quote saying he is not informed is from his note to Spook, I think, which would be from literally right after his accession.
-
Actually no, Sazed is quite aware of what is happening on Roshar, so I would not say he "knows next to zero percent of what is actually going on in the cosmere." Also when he says he doesn't know much, it is when he is still extremely new to the power, I believe, so he just hasn't time to learn anything.

Speculation: All lashings are based on the gravity surge
WeiryWriter replied to Devo's topic in Stormlight Archive
People generally refer to it as Pressure because that's what Brandon has been calling it in interviews and such. Also when we were filling in the Surgebinding chart a few months back neither Brandon or Peter said anything about it not being the right name. Of course they could just not be volunteering that information. I do like the idea though (you have no idea how much) of the surge actually being called adhesion (Adhe-shun), it fits better with some of the other surge names: Gravita-shun, Fric-shun, Illumina-shun, Transforma-shun, Transporta-shun, and Surface Ten-shun. (Yes I realize that last one is actually canon but it fits!- 27 replies

Thread title changed. Edit: Yes I did. But really try not to double post.

This *is* that place. This forum is where the Words of Radiance spoiler discussion is supposed to take place, both pre- and post-release. Anybody coming here knows what they are getting into. Though it will be good form to put *Finished Book* or some other qualifier in the thread title just for another level of safety.

A note on ellipses, if I remember correctly they only have two bindpoints, at the point where they curve the most.

Not quite. Back when we didn't know what to call them, besides "symbolheads", Brandon was asked about it and he suggested "truthspren" because did not want to reveal the canon name yet. It was a while later that we learned that they refer to themselves as "Cryptics". WoR spoiler:
