  1. This is possible, but maybe it's too explicit for someone who is so ambigous and honestly we don't even know if Bavadin is Human. As far as I know you may drawn whatever you want and say "this is bavadin"....you will be probably not far from the truth
  2. Well not for sure. Whatever the Stormfather is made. This tell us about nothing on the Stormlight's composition. Also Preservation was capable of spreading Ruin's Investiture in the physical Realm. In the same way, if there is a of Vault of Investiture avaliable on Roshar...Also beings made by other "powers" may be able to manipulate it (much more if the Investiture is "black" as probably was Adonalsium's one). Remember also that for sure the Stormfather gained deep Connection to Honor only after his Death. We don't know how he was before (He may be an Honor's Spren from the beginning, an Adonalsium Spren later converted to Honor, an Adonalsium Spren who gained Honor's attributes only with the Tanavast's Shadow) @Nightblade the problem here is that a perpendicularity will not help the Voidbringer to return. First of all there are already a couple of perpendicularities on Roshar (at least), if also Cultivation may shout down her own (we are unsure if she could), there are still the Honor's one. On another note, all the Radiant of the universe can't tap more than the sum of the Highstorm's Stormlight. Therefore if those amount is enough to make a Perpendicularity, there are yet a perpendicularity in the Storm and the Voidbringer can use it.
  3. I would love to see a religion to rise from those words that try to all its force to stay in the gray zone between philosopy and religion
  4. I think we know too little of the Oathpact to try to figure why he made the decision he made. It's possible that the Spren simply fel affinity for the Herald-Honorblade and as being strongly Cognitive. They were influenced by the colletive will of mankind, they became involved in the war because of the Humanity's will to defend themself. Just a side note: Honor didn't create the Surgebinding, his mere presence (along probably with a combination of Cultivation and/or Odium) made the System born. He simply give birth to the first Surgebinder's users through the Honorblades (I think you may compared this to the Hemalurgy, the system is there also if there are zero user of it. Then thanks to divine assis, to is gived the tool/knowledge to become a magic user of it. But the system was there long before the first pratictioner). EDIT: After post this reply, I realized that the example would be better with Awakening. Long before the people of Nalthis discovered the Command to manipulate their Breath. There was already the Awakening as Magic System.
  5. @emailanimal When I used the word "corrupted" I didn't want to give some morality in the act. Investiture's mandate always influence the host, so if I give a shard's Investiture to a being/entity, that entity would become more or less attuned to the Shard (I believe that infused/gifted/attuned/corrupted/twisted/empowered are all good terms for this)
  6. I had to study, therefore.... I was on the Brandon's Reddit. There I found this cool questions https://www.reddit.com/r/brandonsanderson/comments/5ge20y/brandon_book_signings_dos_and_donts/daukmq5/?context=3 A couple of them are quite interesting about Adonalsium both in his past and his future: EDIT: Personal Note: I don't understand the first RAFO, He told for a while where the original vessels came from. Therefore I think he RAFOed the Worldhopper part
  7. Many time the survivor to Hemalurgy are comparate to Nalthis's Drabs...so I think there is noticeble difference about in the Investiture. But you may be right. When I read SoS, I speculated about the reason Harmony (and Kandras) didn't know that relevant people were killed and replaced, that Bleeder used of Hemalurgy to kill the victims to avoid them to meet Harmony. But I may be wrong of course
  8. We have the WoB who said that Roshar would be in the same problem as Sel if there wasn't another Shard and a tons of Spren who works as release valve for Honor's Power (while the Seon&Skaze on Sel are really not enough to performe this works). As I said some post before, the current Stormfather is a mix of the spren knowed as Rider of the Storm and the Tanavast's Cognitive shadow. I think that H&C (and maybe Odium) corrupted some great Spren that were already on Roshar for some specific purpose ( Rider of the Storm, the Nightwatcher and another spren that I can't actually sure for sure). This attuned those Adonalsium's Spren to them. Making those spren compatible to the magic system knowed as Surgebinder. When Tanavast dies, his Cognitive Shadow tried a way to fight again...or maybe just to pass the visions. And he get to the Stormfather, the only one who may actually find a good vessels for the visions. @Rawrbert yes I read that essay but I find some difference between something that "spawn and vanish in different locations" and an actual "mobile things". But thanks to post it PS: I think that may be clear, but also if I proposed both of theories. I am actually more about the main one with Adonalsium as Stormlight's source
  9. actually no. Not only the Metallic-Arts compatible metals glow in the Cognitive...all the metals glow there. Kelsier never mentioned of other not-glowing metal object there and I really doubt that all the metal in a city is Allomantical-good (much more for the alloys and their percentage)
  10. I think that the part "without Honor to regulate it" is only about the number of Radiant Spren avaliable. If there is a risk to start a desolation if there are too much Radiant Knight. Honor would simply regulate the amount of Radiant Spren avaliable....Now He is death, and almost all his power turned into Radiant Spren, now there are too much of them.
  11. The Silver isn't nothing special in relation to the metallic arts. It's simply a mundane metal not part of the 16 (like Platinum for example)
  12. Maybe I arrive too late (and probably I had not right to ask because You already put something interesting to me) but I am interesting in this question: "A Victim of Hemalurgy loses a good amount of her Soul/Investiture. When she dies, her time in the Cognitive would be really short (maybe almost nothing). May a simil death pass unseen to a Shard ?" Maybe the wording isn't the best....If you want to ask it, feel free to re-word it EDIT: I read the list @Argent posted and I think we have already an answer to the " * Are the Resonances (a.k.a. perks) granted by the mixing of powers shared between all people who share the same pairs of powers? If not, how similar are those Resonances? "
  13. As @Ookla the Indefinite said, to Soulcast you actually need the specific kind of gem...You may also notice in the first and traumatic Shallan's Soulcast, she soulcast into blood because the polestone she had was the one compatible with blood. Or in the scenes where Jasnah soulcasts and the rightful gem was cracked
  14. I am always thought that the knife didn't glow because it's actually in the Cognitive Realm (in the same way Khriss, Nazh and Hoid were). And you see the radiance/glow from metal/soul because you actually "see" the power/investiture who travel between the realms (in the beatuful metaphor of Realms as Sun, Sunray and Shadow)...It's the same principle you see someone burning atium spawn connections. As other point, did any other Khriss, Nazh or Hoid's item glow ?
  15. Raoden was on Sel where the AonDor could work...Galladon is on Roshar where the Dor can't reach him...and we have a WoB who said that an Elantrian off-world would look as their pre-shaod state. The problem (but it's not a real problem after all) is that we don't know if they are actually use their homeland powers...They may be using the "Connection drink" to attune themself with a Shard X and tap from his power as any other magic user of a Manifestation of Investiture fueled directly by X (I will use as example Preservation's and Allomancy, but in the specific case it would be weird)....but again this point is quite useless to this post, therefore just ignore it. We probably have different views of this but the Dor and the land are quite a closed symbiotic system..The Dor gains a meaning through the Forms dictated by the land...The Reod is not just "The Dor didn't come" is actually an "Error 404"...As you may see from WoB the simply "absence of Dor" didn't cause to an Elantrian to become a Reod (as Galladon showed us). So also in the Cognitive Realm you would have some "interface error" with the Dor.
  16. This is a bit controversial topic. I don't actually think you may revert or mitigate the Reod in the Sel's CR. Galladon's look as a pre-shaod version of himself, while the Ire are quite in Reod-like. I know there are also some controverial about Ire's drink, someone as yourself think their drink is raw investiture, other think that they drink connection (some in the same "kind" of the Connection Orb). There are some troublesome matters on the Ire and their apparence in the SH. If the Dor is location dependant, they would suffer the Reod (or the restoration from the Reod) only if they are on Sel. But this mean that the Ire have to be on Sel when the Chasm appeared and runned away before the fix of Elantris.
  17. Ruin wasn't "trapped", his simply be invested in Scadrial prevent him from travel away from it...From what we saw, Ruin (and In this case Harmony) had to extend some of his mental presence to the people he wants to influence (not necessary a great amount of his attenction). I don't really think He may speak with someone out of his "standard range"....Maybe he may have a feel about where the Hemalurgy's users are, but I don't think He may start a conversation with them
  18. From what we see in SH I think He can't go so far from Scadrial
  19. Stormfather didn't became Tanavast's CS....The being that now we call "Stormfather" is the merging of the Rider of the Storm and the actual Tanavast's CS. It's both a Splinter (thanks to Rider of the Storm) and a Sliver (for the Tanavast's Shadow)....I always see it as a Shard's parody
  20. I didn't go too far about the Spren or Stormlight because I thought it was quite OT in the context of the Theory (but as I said I have another couple of topics to made about those arguments). Yeah I know that my grammar is far from good. But I can't actually see my own errors to try to avoid them the next time....My Hope is always to make posts that are understandable also if I seem a "9 years old child". Returning to the main point of the Highstorm's source, I don't think Honor has some of his own in it (it's the reason I didn't put him in the Derivated theory). I explain myself better. Honor died, his power was splintered and now reside in the Cognitive Realm (in the form of an huge number of Spren or proto-Spren). This mean that IF Honor's power was part of the Stormlight...now there is no more of him in there (stormlight again is tapped directly from the Spiritual). I suppose this would be something that will change a bit the Stormlight's nature and nothing in the books (Dalinar's vision or Spren's worlds) seems to point in some " relative recent" change in the Stormlight. Of course there is another possibility, Honor (and Cultivation) could cut off a part of himself to place it in the Stormlight-cycle (almost in the same way I propose, Adonalsium did it)...But I find it unlikely. I see no point in weaken yourself without a real benefit, when you are currently in war with a big bad guy who had already managed to overcome other two Shards together.
  21. New question: Whatever the Old Magic actually is. Is the modern use of it, the same of its original purpose ?
  22. The power can kill you because you try to filter it with the wrong structure....It's try to make the magic works with a broken tool, there is a nice analogy with Sel Elantris Spoiler: In the case of the Mistborn (a Misting because it's safe from this problem) you try to force Preservation's Power into a wrong templace...this mean problem/weirdness, but this problems happen inside of you. I am unsure about your previous point about Feruchemy...If you store too much Strenght or Health (for example), you will die. The regular Ferring may store almost 100% of his attributes...if he accept the possibility of death through some of them (other attribute don't create problems)
  23. Where did we get the times between Elantris and Mistborn ? PS: I am really unsure about Vasher and his visit to Scadrial pre-Ascension...He is probably too young
  24. In the same way that the Ruinous One (Hemalurgy) may boost your abilities. Seriously...The Feruchemy too may kill you if you store too much of an vital attribute but you can't judge a system using the wrong uses of it. PS: It's never happen or said but nothing prevent that a Feruchemist may store in not-compatible metals....in the end simply losing an attribute
