Brandon Will Accept Mistborn Game Proposal
Zas678 commented on Chaos's article in Brandon and Book News
Watch. It'll end up being for Gameboy. Color. -
And from the "Allomancers for hire", I'm thinking more and more that they don't know about Chromium. I don't think they know about the external enhancement metals. I mean, surely, it would be a much wanted trait for allomancers.

Well, how much were Kandra of Ruin? I mean culturally? They were all about staying the same, about immortality, about the status quo. Thus the saw themselves as Preservation, even though magically, they were of Ruin. Perhaps a similar thing is happening with the Parshendi. (Although admittedly, that does seem too easy of a comparison) Maybe that's why the Parshendi made the deal and then broke it. Becuase that was an act of Odium instead of an act of Honor

I don't know. Ruin didn't, after centuries upon centuries of observing. He had good guesses, from what the people were saying and acting, but he didn't know.
-
No way. Guess what book comes out the same day as this one? That's right: A book about a lawmaker Allomancer turned Nobleman. Alloy of Law comes out the same day as Inheritance.

Good job, and good luck!

That's one thing that I noticed. In Final Empire, when Kelsier "destroys" the Pits of Hathsin, he says this line: How long is AoL after the original triology? I'd imagine that Sazed could stop it if he wants to, but it is something to keep in mind. And I don't think Sazed is reading his mind. I think he is pushing stuff into his mind, but unless there is something really odd about that earring (whether hemalurgical or not), I think the reason why the advice is so general is because that's all he dares say. Those sort of comments are always applicable. Keep going, do your best, etc, etc. The point of the metal is to send up a "flag" to Harmony saying "Hey! Give this person inspiration!" Oo! Idea. What if the earings are hemalurgically charged- but not by humans? What if animals were sacrificed to Harmony in order to speak with him? On second thought, no, that wouldn't work. First of all, it would be a Tenet of Pathism, and second, sacrifices don't really fit with the setting that he's going. Nix that idea.

I'll be there too. Should be fun!

Hey, so Brandon is answering some questions via video for those that can't attend comic-con. This is the link: http://sf-fantasy.suvudu.com/2011/07/sdcc-ask-the-author-brandon-sanderson.html But since time is limited, it would probably be prudent to only ask a few questions instead of a giant list of 50 questions that you have ever wondered.

Afraid not. Brandon has said that both Scribbler and Alcatraz aren't in the cosmere. Sorry!

Do we know that Thaidakar is the leader of the Ghostbloods? The only other time that I can find his name is during the Assassination. You see, Gavilar suspects (in this order) Thaidakar, Restares, and Sadeas. He seems to hand off the Black Sphere to Szeth, hoping that "they won't get it", mentioning that it is "too late." Now what are these three up to? And why, three years later have they gotten involved with the attack on Ammaram (Thaidakar in the beginning, Restares in the Kaladin recommendation, and Sadeas because Amaram is his soldier)? The only 2 things that I can think is the following: Either Gavilar is not Ghostblood, and Thaidakar (as a ghostblood) sent the Shardbearer to attack Amaram because of his nobility, and Restares isn't with him, Or, Thaidakar, Restares, and (assumably) Sadeas are against the Ghostbloods, are fighting against them, and Gavilar got in the way/is a Ghostblood.

So. I was reading the Way of Kings, and I realized- we really have very little information on any of the characters. So, I decided that I am going to do something about it. I'm going to read the WoK 100 pages at a time, and as I read, I'm going to write Wiki pages for them. I'll plan on doing them as fast as I can, so that I can do other things before school starts. FYI- There's a good chance that it isn't going to happen. But it is worth a shot. And if I only get 10 pages in, that's still the Prologue and the Prelude, which has some pretty awesome stuff. Part 1: 48% Part 2: Part 3: Part 4: Part 5: Part 6: Part 7: Part 8: Part 9: Part 10: Part 11: (tee hee)

Chapter 47 Annotation *Spoilers everywhere*
Zas678 replied to Link Von Kelsier Harvey's topic in Warbreaker
Hey! I had the exact same thought! -
Hello Guinivere! I'm impressed at how long you've been a fan. Welcome to the best place to show it off! I love Hoid too, and I am impressed with his persistence. Gods may come and go, but storytellers live forever. Oh! And one more thing- BYU Library has Dragonsteel. He turned it in for his thesis, so you can get it that way.

I don't know if Tan is a hemalurgist. But I do think that the Vanishers are. Or are planning on it. That's why they are kidnapping people. Not for ransom, not for hostage purposes, but for their SOULS!!! (hehe. Souls, spiritual DNA, what's really the difference?) Thus the aluminum bullets. They're to kill the allomantic women if they try to escape. And you know what? I wouldn't be suprised if one of them was a Cadmium Chromium (is that the aluminum equivalent?) burner. I wonder if they know about Cadmium Chromium. Do they realize that Sazed meant two seperate metals, instead of a metal and its alloy? I'd assume so, since Brandon has let us know about it. But who knows? EDIT- See below

I would like to announce that I am now a Sliver instead of a Hoid-in-training. I feel like instead of having encyclopedic knowledge of random things that I should either: A: Rule this land with an iron fist B. Get some good initials for my name C. Start my own religion D. All of the above

I think the reason why Nightblood is not a Splinter is because he is powered by Human Power instead of by Shard Power. I believe that Breaths come from the people, not from Endowment. Sure, they wouldn't be able to give them away without Endowment, but they are independent of Endowment in the same way Allomancy is independent of Preservation. I tihnk that Splinters are inherently tied to the Cognitive Realm. Creating Lifeless isn't that hard. Creating intelligent Lifeless able to interact with society is very hard. That is what the Uber-Breath mostly provides for- the tie to the Cognitive Realm. Although the breath itself isn't intelligent, the investiture of power from Endowment allows for the sentinence of the previously departed to reconnect to the Physical Realm. Seons are also intelligent, and it has been noted that they seem to "need" a master. I believe that without a master, their Sentinence disapeers. When the Elantrians lose their connection to the Dor, the Seons that are tied to them go mad- because they themselves can no longer connect to their masters, even though they should be able to.

I like the second one more. And there have been some Ketek's written here: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/567-keteks/

The reason the Returned need breath to live
Zas678 replied to Mad_Scientist's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I disagree with this. I think that Sentient Non-Living Objects will always be extremely costly. I think that even if Nightblood's Command was "Give to others", whenever he was actually doing it (I don't know how he would), it would be costly. Why? Because what the initial investement of Breath did (the 1000 to Awaken him) did is give him Sentinence (or an "active" presence in the Cognitive Realm). All Breaths used after that are needed to have him affect the Physical world. I think that Breaths don't care why he's doing this. I think that they just are used. -
Ooh, I know this one! It's from the... annotations? Let me check.... Yep. Chapter 49 In this chapter, we also get the first hints that children and animals like Vasher. That's another hing about his nature-though a very, very subtle one, since I haven't talked about how animals and children all like Returned. They can sense the divine Breath within him and it comforts them. EDIT- Is Thaidakar the leader of the Ghostbloods? (let him answer, and if no, or RAFO then: ) Did Thaidakar provoke the Ghostbloods then?

The reason the Returned need breath to live

I've got something about Lifeless you might find interesting: Chapter 33 Annotations Vivenna and the Mercenaries Wait in the Safe House after the Lifeless Attack on the Slumlords Why does Jewels bother sewing up Clod? Why fix Lifeless at all? Denth's answer is a fairly good one, but it could use some more explanation. You see, when one makes a Lifeless, the reason the Breath stays and won't come back is because the body of a recently deceased person is too "sticky" for Breaths. One Breath attaches to it, and because the body so clearly remembers being alive, it can use that Breath to power it. (Assuming you have the right Commands and can picture them correctly in your head when you make the Lifeless.) However, the more the Lifeless is damaged, the less like the shape of a living person it is, and the more difficult it is for the Breath to keep that body going. Powering a body with only one Breath is hard—it requires the body to work mostly on its own. When you power a cloak or something like that, the Breaths need to provide a lot of energy, since there's no real muscles to use or skeletal structure to rely on. So the more wounded a Lifeless becomes, the less well its Breath can keep it going. Eventually you'll need to stick a second Breath into it, then a third, all the way up until that Lifeless is nothing more than a bunch of bones you've Awakened. At that point, you might as well be using sticks or cloth. -
I'd have to say Dalinar. I love his quest to do the right thing, even though he's not entirely sure what that is. But if he believes that something is right and good, he will go for it. That focus is just amazing to me.

Hey, do I know you from somewhere ? Anywho, welcome to 17thshard! This place is awesome! We're always glad for more people. Now a question for you: Who is your favorite character from WoK?

Question. Is there a way to get a massive Google Docs document (which can save to a .doc/pdf/HTML) and transfer it to Wikipedia style? I could do it by hand, but that would take a long time, and I'm all about shortcuts. Does anyone have an idea for me?
