  1. I always wondered that. (The courier's name was Goradel btw)
  2. Remember, the first trilogy takes place in a time where the most advanced technology was a pocketwatch. The Lord Ruler wouldn't appreciate forward thinking messing up his eutopia. So tech. remained unchanged for almost a thousand years. We'll see new and better ways to consume metals in the coming books
  3. Liquids are easier to swallow, and suspended metal in alcohol has a longer shelf life than metal suspended in water. There's a reason allomancers use 'rust' as a curse word.
  4. Feruchemy does protect the user from their own power while tapping, or else Sazed's skin would have split like a koloss when he matched their bulk with his pewter. Brass ferrings can get hot enough to boil water with their bare skin if they tap enough. A double brass would have limitless heat, but might asphyxiate when they start fires if they're not careful.
  5. Some alloys actually contain bits of other allomantic metals too. I'm not sure why.
  6. Depends on whether that investiture comes from preservation, ruin, or both.
  7. The theory does have merit, but I'm not convinced yet.
  8. I always thought that Syl's problem wasn't with the blade, but with Dalinar having the blade. She had no problem with Andolin, and when Dalinar gave up his blade she said "He's better without it." (Paraphrase) Do we know for certain that all ten orders of the Knights Radiant used shardblades? Or could it be that Dalinar isn't a knight, but something else? Edit: New thought, what if certian Blades belong to certain orders of the KR and Dalinar had simply been carrying the wrong kind of blade? Also, if the above is true, could Szeth be pulling his Windrunner abilities from his Blade? Or Shallan her soulcasting?
  9. I had the thought that the black sphere is connected to the voidbringers (and therefore Odium) which may be why the Parshendi killed him (assuming they're not evil)
  10. Huh, I always thought that Renarian would end up like Kaladin's brotherm dying in a suitably horrible way to give Andolin a defining character motivation.
  11. I'm still not sold on investiture giving them access to allomancy. Feruchemy utilizes both ruin and preservation in equal amounts, becoming end nuetral. The raw investiture they store should be Harmony, not preservation. Unless they pull it from a source that's mostly preservation... ...like human attributes... You're right, a tricky nicrosil ferring might be able to store enough pure Preservation enable themselves allomanticly. But they'd have to be clever, know what they're doing, and have a lot of raw Preservation.
  12. I would have thought that they can't use investiture for any power they couldn't use without it. Their spiritwebs wouldn't be shaped for it. The theory does make me wonder whether they can affect Human Attributes with investiture. Hemalurgy can steal them, and it's a safe bet that those attributes are rooted in the extra 'spark of preservation' found in all sentient life forms. So I think those attributes would fit your description of passive investiture and are subject to nicrosil feruchemy.
  13. Wow that got shot down quick. You're right, there's no way "soulbearer" translates to "gnat" . So what would the benifit be of only storing investiture? They don't have other metalminds they can transfer the power to, unless they can use it to fill someone else's metalmind?
  14. Holymindblowi'vehadanapostrophe! If the theory that the Parshendi are the Dawnsingers holds true, or even if they aren't the voidbringers I think they may be tied to Cultivation. They worship the casmfiends which cultivate gemhearts. They wear armor grown from their own skin. And what is more cultivating than music? Anyways, just a thought. Their "betrayal" still makes no sense to me.
  15. Storing investiture basicly drains one of your metalminds of it's charge, and stores it in your nicrosilmind. That new charge can be exchanged for charge in any other metalmind you have access to. Ex: fill a pewtermind with strength, then drain it into your nicrosil mind, then convert it and fill your steelmind instead. I think it means that nicrosil ferrings are kind of like gnats since they can't access any other metal. Twinborn with access to nicrosilminds may be able to store their allomancy.
  16. For all of those questions I'd answer this way: All shards in the cosmere were originally one. Anywhere where the investiture(shardpower) comes from the user, the user should be able to usde their powers on any other shardworld as long as they meet all their normal requirements. Tin on Scadrial is the same as tin on Nalthis. Color on Nalthis is the same as color on Scadrial. Breaths only occur naturally on Nalthis, although an awakener can take their breaths with them wherever they go. I'm not sure if the same is true of surgebinders and their spren. Shadesmar exists everywhere in the cosmere, but spren don't occur naturally anywhere but Roshar.
  17. (Mistborn/Keeper/ +has a full set of spikes) = TwistedUberDeathGodThing
  18. Yes, but you'd still have to slow down to actually touch them. I wouldn't want to break my arm by punching a guy while moving at fourty miles an hour. Pewter can help with that.
  19. I think allomantic pewter and feruchemic steel would be what I would want. According to the adventure game, f-steel's biggest weakness is that while feruchemy keeps your body from tearing itself apart it doesn't protect you from a high-speed collision with something else. It means you have slow down a bit if you want to punch something. A-Pewter gives you not just enhanced strength, but enhanced durability and coordination as well as better reflexes. All would be a huge advantage for someone who wants to fight without slowing down from near superhuman speed. The only limit is how fast your mind can keep up with your body. Without a zincmind you couldn't safely move faster than you can see and understand where you are going.
  20. Or he might attack ruin directly.
  21. Now that is interesting... So feruchemy might not be divided the same way allomancy is?
  22. You'd still have to deal with pressure and keep track of how much cadmium charge you have left. Other than that it's a good combo i was thinking the same thing only cadmium/iron for spacewalks. Also, the Tin/Copper twinborn? Forget surgeon, they'd be CSI. Memorizing all the details of a crime scene after looking at them with enhanced senses. The decay of memories isn't that bad with practise. If I remember correctly sazed would write down what he was remembering to keep it fresh. A tin/copper would sketch out the picture and write down odors and sounds he could identify.
  23. Makes you wonder if there will be any twinborn on the team and what their powers will be.
  24. I forget which interview, I think it was when he was asked how compounding works.
  25. No, Brandon specificly refered to componding. And not all compounders have access to nicrosil-minds. Componding feruchemy involves tricking your allomancy into fueling your feruchemy, but you can also trick your feruchemy into storing allomantic power. My current theory is that storing your allomancy allows you to overcome the "maximum output" limit on allomancy, giving you access to sustained duralumin-like effects or savant-level abilities without having to warp yourself.
