  1. This is twice in a row (Silverblade and Elenion) that someone has said to just lynch them, and I'd be lying to say if I wasn't irritated by these comments. It's such a conversation killer. This lynch discussion is already pretty weak, and is isn't helping. There's been what, eight votes placed so far? And in my opinion, the only one's of worth have been mine, Wilson's and Rae's, and to a lesser extent, Lopen's. I'm satisfied by Araris's response, although I wish more people would have weighed in on it. Kipper's been little more than a troll this game (I've been told he claimed Eliminator to Rae on D1 and that he's been trolling Wilson pretty consistently) and as soon as I noticed that was the route he was taking, I stopped responding to his PMs entirely. As for Rae and SB, I'm equally suspicious of them both, given that outside of their specific situation, I haven't really seen them do anything good. Rae's been phishing for information while SB has been trying to coordinate Noble votes in secret. Both of those things are innately suspicious to me. The first because an eliminator is more inclined to try and gain info and pass it, while the second because knowing the identities of the Nobles allows the eliminators know who to not target if they want to hit a more powerful role. As for Aonar, as much as I can't stand lurking, I haven't seen him watching the thread, or even the forums, and since I've only ever played one game with him (MR10) I can't say if his lack of involvement was because of his alignment or just because of his play style. Does someone know him well enough to say differently?
  2. (1) Aonar Faileas: TheMightyLopen, (2) Araris Valerian: Amanuensis, jaimeleecee, (2) Kipper: little wilson, Elenion, (1) Elbereth: Stink, (1) Arraenae: Silverblade9, (1) Silverblade9: Arraenae, Aman's always got tallys ready that being said, I'm getting ready for an afternoon shift right now. When I get settled in at work (if it's not too busy) I'll try to go through everything and see how I feel about Aonar / Kipper / Rae / SB to see if I feel more strongly about any of them than I do Araris. I might get bogged down with getting things ready for the next QF17 turn over so I would really appreciate it if more people would talk, either about the current lynch candidates or why they're suspicious of anyone else.
  3. Well, surprise I can confirm that every PM sent at turn over was accurate. No mistakes were made. I'm too strict for that I cannot say anything more on the subject, other than Meta's is right in that this game only incorporates Pokemon, Types and Moves from the First Generation, and that every move sufficiently reflects it's equivalent in the video games, with perhaps one or two tweaks for the sake of balancing.
  4. Just under 6 hours left until turn over! Please get your orders and votes in if you haven't already!
  5. I understand. Now I'm wondering if it was a ChayShan who attacked you, or a Serial-Killer / second eliminator team with staggered attacks. Apparently a second ChayShan has now claimed to have attacked Straw and Alv, but that their kill on Straw failed because the other ChayShan won the coin toss. If the kill on you was a ChayShan too (assuming the other two aren't lying), then that would mean that the village has three kills, which would mean the eliminators definitely have to have some form of protection, too, if not multiple forms of it. I'd actually reckon there's a Legionnaire among them, now that I think about it. Legionnaire would allow them a lot of strategic options. Arrest one of their teammates who are taking heat at the cost of them not being able to use their ability, or Arrest a villager to try and get information out of them. For a similar reason I'd guess they have a Beggar so that they can choose a role for their team, as well as a vote-manipulator like Merchant, Duke or Noble. Maybe a couple of those or one of each, depending on team size. But that's only if we assume that there's no new abilities introduced into the eliminators team. Speaking of, has anyone seen any hints or evidence of some kind of unknown power? So far, I've seen Nobles, Dukes, Legionnaire's, ChayShan and Pirates confirmed. Only one instance of a Bodyguard claiming to have defended an attack, and a claim that a Dula has scanned Wilson and Magestar. That only leaves zero evidence of Merchants (might be because they're inactive) and Beggars (can't really prove their role unless them taking a power is announced in thread). I'm starting to think that Joe made this a normal eliminator game + Neutrals and was just trying to make us all paranoid about anything extra.
  6. So, a player just claimed to me that they were the ChayShan who attacked Straw on N1, but did not attack anyone last night. That means that there have been four kills so far. Straw's killer Ecth's Killer and Conq's Assailant Alv's Assailant "Emerald's Assailant" That might explain why there's so many protective roles this game. But at this point I doubt that they're all village. Mailliw the Bodyguard Retired Pirate Straw Alvron w/ Extra Life Conq w/ Extra Life Legionnaire A who Arrested me N1 Legionnaire B who Arrested me N1 "Bodyguard A Claim" "Bodyguard B Claim" "Emerald the Bodyguard" "Legionnaire C who Arrested Stink N1" Key: Proven via write up, Proven to me, Unproven to me Of the unproven, I don't believe Stink's claim of there being a third Legionnaire who arrested him at all, and I also don't yet believe the claim that Emerald was attacked / that he defended himself (but that's mostly because he took so long to announce it in the thread) whereas the other two players claimed Bodyguard much earlier, and long before it was convenient for them to tell anyone. There's also the Beggars we have to factor into this. So far Rae is the only person who's claimed Beggar, as far as I'm aware, so given it was a guarantee that Mailliw would be lynched, it might not be a bad thing if she was the only one. As an aside, I still have yet to hear any Merchant claims, nor Noble aside from Silverblade or Duke save for Elenion. Knowing this, it seems this game is primarily kills and protects. What I want to know is what people think we should go from here, knowing this information? Personally I don't think we should go down the same route the Villagers did in LG14 (the last LG Joe ran) where they lynched all of the Bodyguards only to find out none of them were evil. But I also don't think that everyone on this list is innocent. EDIT: I'm going to bed now. Will post again tomorrow.
  7. Thanks. So, now I'm wondering who protected Emerald. I'm aware of three players who have claimed Bodyguard. One of them claims to have protected themselves N1 and Wilson N2. Another claims to have protected themselves both nights. The last one I'm pretty sure has been protecting themselves, though they never said so and I've yet to ask. Add to this the fact that Mailliw was a Bodyguard and there's a couple Beggar claims out there... somethings not right.
  8. Alright. I'll take this all into consideration. Just one thing on bandwagons, though, in particular to Elbereth's involvement in the one on Emerald. She had no part of it. She just told the thread that she gut read him as evil. It was Wilson who cast the first vote, and she had already said the previous cycle that Emerald was the player she was most suspicious of. Even so, that shouldn't implicate her because it's the way players afterwards respond to it that makes it a bandwagon it in the first place. So really here I think you're looking for the problem in the wrong place. Let's see... Aman votes for Mailliw Wilson votes for Emerald Orlok votes for Mailliw Lopen votes for Mailliw Conquestor votes for Emerald Kipper votes for Mailliw Bard votes for Mailliw Araris votes for Elbereth So what I see here is Mailliw accruing 5 votes rapidly, whereas Emerald only gets two, and you call it a bandwagon prematurely. That sounds incredibly familiar to me. Like D1 of LG22 familiar. Didn't Seonid call two votes on Sart a bandwagon to discourage more people from voting for him, and it turned out they were both Darkfriends? Not saying this is the exact same scenario, but, I personally have never seen a villager call two votes a bandwagon (aside from Ecth and Len, maybe, but ones dead and we've already talked about the other enough). Now let's look at what just happened with my post about you. Aman votes for Araris Len votes for Araris Wilson votes for Kipper Rae votes for Araris Jaime votes for Araris All of that happens in a short period of time. A half an hour max, maybe. Now THAT's a bandwagon, and a pretty suspicious one, in my opinion. Of those three players, I am most suspicious of Rae, mostly because of some PM stuff going on right now that I'm probably going to bring up after I finish working through it, followed by Jaime, and then Len (who I'm relatively confident is Village). I myself am going to grab some dinner too, now that I'm done with the QF. Note, Araris, that I am happy that you defended yourself, but before I remove my vote and vote for someone else I would like more people to weigh in on you, first. After I eat, I'll start analyzing Rae more thoroughly, and maybe change my vote to her. But that'll only be if I hear enough people talk about you. I don't want all of that effort I put into that post to go to waste and have everyone just move on to the next target without adding their own thoughts.
  9. I'm pretty sure I've sent all the PMs out. If you haven't received one from me, please say so in there.

  12. "Oh Bother" A short essay about our local anthropomorphic teddy bear, by Amanuensis. Who exactly is Araris Valerian? Some may know him as a singulares of Princeps Gaius Septimus. Others as loving fan of Winnie the Pooh. I, for one, do not know much of the man, having never read Codex Alera, nor talked with him in any private messages. He also is a bit of a lurker, posting only now and again, likely only to keep the inactivity filter from getting him, if his lack of contribution is any sign. To be fair, he has informed us that he is on vacation, and thus unable to participate as much as he might otherwise, but this isn't exactly unusual for him. If I'm not mistaken, he frequently isn't involved in discussion, and even more rarely, is ever the focus of discussion. Before I begin, what prompted me making this post? First, it was the sheer lack of discussion occurring right now. I'm in the middle of co-GMing a game, and yet am stepping up to be the one to try to generate discussion. Second, there's the fact that we're still as leadless as we were last Day Turn, and it's got to start somewhere. Third, that I think we've already talked Len to death, and unless the majority actually wants to kill him, it's a waste of time for us to keep discussing him. Fourth, that Araris has said a few things that don't sit right with me, so I'd like to see other people's opinions on it. Exhibit A, his first post of the game. Emphasis mine. For the first line of bolded text, allow me to reference posts of my own. Emphasis mine. Above is the very first paragraph of my very first post, in which I say, in more words, the exact same thing Araris said I never mentioned. Granted, I do soon say we should use ties sparingly / avoid them as much as possible, but that is a lot different than ignoring the possibility. As for the second bolded line in Araris' first post, this is what I have to say. Though I do not know much of Araris, I do remember one thing. One of the biggest things he's been vocal about in past games is how against he is lynching someone just because they have a certain role. Yet in this game, on D1, he seems to disregard that thought process entirely, and advocates we can use double lynch to deal with players who claim extra lives. So, I can't help but wonder. Why is Araris suggesting this? Village!Araris might be suggesting it because extra-lives are considered "smart" for Eliminators to claim, as they can only be proven via a lynch. Except, wait. Why would an Eliminator claim that, given that in a lost of recent games, we've all been acknowledging the fact and even lynching the players who claimed it. I'm a great, recent example of this. In LG22 I had an extra-life role (and claimed it). At some point, we narrowed down the evil Conversion role to either me or a player who claimed Viewer (scanner). Now, up until that point, I had pretty much done nothing to accrue suspicion, whereas the results the Viewer gave us were obviously false, as they provided absolutely no new information. And what happened? The villagers decided to lynch me to prove if I had the extra life or not simply because it was "safer," despite there being a much better argument to lynching the Viewer first. The result: the evil Conversion role gets another night to claim a villager as a teammate, and shortly thereafter the eliminator faction kills me. Two things that nearly cost the villagers the game, as a result of the "it's safer to lynch people with extra lives" mindset. Now, is everyone in this game aware of such a scenario occurring? No. But a lot of the players who were in that game were in this one (including Araris), and some of those who weren't have been reading past games to get familiar with how they play out and our community. Chances are a few of these players are eliminators. Knowing that the general consensus is already to prove extra life claims, that means eliminators are less likely to claim them unless they actually have that power. So, while its good to strip eliminators with extra lives of their protection, I think that that is a TERRIBLE reason to lynch someone. If there's someone who is suspicious enough to lynch, lynch them. Don't lynch them to prove their role, which is exactly what Araris seems to be suggesting here Eliminator!Araris, however, might have no reservations about such a concept. If his teammates all vowed not to claim extra lives (without actually having them) it would keep them from unnecessary risk. Meanwhile the village effectively strips itself of all if its protection, making their job of killing us much easier. Normally I would assume that a player suggesting this was just trying to expand thoughts, but when it comes to Araris, it's a direct contradiction to his usual stance on the subject of lynching people just because they have a certain role. This suggests to me that following that line of thinking would benefit him in some way. And I see it benefiting the eliminators far more than not. Onward, to Exhibit B, C and D, his third, fourth and fifth posts (second was just him voting for the shortened turn). For someone who has been barely viewing the thread / paying attention the game, he's talking A LOT about Emerald, a player who has taken a considerable amount of flak (and from Wilson, no less). What I find odd is that he's saying so many players are willing to vote for Emerald when I'm pretty sure I haven't seen more than three (maybe four) votes on him at a time. However, in both lynch discussions, Elenion received just as many votes (if not more) and yet he doesn't discuss that. He describes Emerald's posts as "unhelpful" but not "suspicious" but is perfectly willing to vote for a player (Elbereth) just because she had an evil gut read on him (she never voted for him) as well as cast doubt onto Wilson, who I am personally leaning as village. Wilson made several good points about Emerald, in my opinion, and the main reason why I haven't voted for him is because I don't want to give him a chance to prove me wrong in case it really is because he's been gone so long. That being said, you're providing me a great opportunity to gain a lead to another eliminator if I'm right now if I'm right about you. Now, if you are evil, you could be defending Emerald just to tie yourself to them in case either of you die, as a means to soft clear yourself or soft confirm him as evil, but given how little you've been paying attention, I am more inclined to believe it's because you two are teammates, and while you can't dedicate as much time as you need to be able to right now to help much, you want to still try to discourage people from lynching him and make some key villagers (if I'm right about Wilson) look bad in the process. While I might not be willing to lynch Emerald right now, I have no qualms about you (other than the fact that you're on vacation right now), and that's mainly because you just one LG23 and because you're joking about catching up to Mailliw's fatality rate, so I don't see much harm in giving you what you want. @Araris Valerian, I would love a defense from you. I think it'll be a lot more telling than anything else you've posted so far. I also really want people's opinions on what I've said here. If you agree with me, feel free to vote for him, but first explain why. If you disagree, explain and then write up a similar post about a player you actually are suspicious of and why. I personally think we've been having way too many players sitting back and observing. It's D3 now. Surely everyone has to have some ideas and theories by now. EDIT: Was Ninja'd a lot while writing this. Catching up now.
  13. Alright, so. If I recall correctly, if a person is attacked but "survives" that means they had an extra life, while "saved" would mean there was interference from a Legionnaire or a Bodyguard (or neutral / evil equivalent). So, at the very least, that's two more Retired Pirates. The write up pretty heavily implies Alvron is retired, so... I guess I'd guess that for him. As for Conq, no idea, but I agree with there being a theme with the attack on him and the attack on Ecth. It's pretty clear someone else attacked Straw that night (there were two fights going on at once) but with his death it was a lot more unclear. So, my theory there is: Assailant A attacked Straw and attacked Alvron (unseen enemy). Assailant B attacked Ecth and Conq (Philosopher). Since I'm also of the opinion that the player who killed Straw was a ChayShan Monk (it makes no sense to me for the Eliminators or a Serial Killer to attackl someone who had a decent chance of being lynched the next turn) while whoever attacked Ecth and Conq are evil. Whether or not Ecth/Conq's attacker is the Eliminators or a Serial Killer, at this point, is hard to determine, but I'm guessing Eliminators. If a kill was blocked, we would know. Eliminators would not wait to use their kills while an SK might. Now the question next would be, why Ecth and Conq? My guess is because the eliminators don't want to choose obvious targets for the following reasons: firstly, so that they don't risk their attack being blocked, secondly, to keep us in the dark further, as it's hard to discern motivations from a strategy like that. There's also a third reason (that one or more of their players are regarded as "high threat," so if they attack those players and succeed in killing them, eventually it'll narrow down which of them are evil.
  14. Friendly reminder to place your orders if you haven't already. There's just under 6 hours left in the turn, and the sooner we know what everyone's doing, the sooner we can get out the next write up and results PMs! Also, for anyone who sent us an order and didn't receive a reply saying "Noted," please send it again just so I can make sure there's no mistakes. Thanks
  15. After a long day of work, Overseer 'Shoulders' returned to his humble abode, suppressing a yawn until he finally reached his bed. It didn't take long for him to succumb to his exhaustion, though when his alarm started blaring the next morning, it did not seem to phase him. Apparently, many of the players had been given directions to his house and began rapping on his door to ask questions, though even that did not wake him. It wasn't until the 'Head' Overseer burst in through the roof that 'Shoulders' rose. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING," 'Head' screamed. "DON'T YOU HEAR THEM? THERE'S WORK TO BE DONE!" Rubbing the tear-soaked crusts from his eyes, 'Shoulders' looked up at his boss, then the hole in the ceiling, dumbfounded. He was about to comment on his entrance but the sound of chaos brewing outside was clear. "I don't suppose you could have intervened, eh?" "OF COURSE NOT!" 'Head' screamed... he seemed unable to do much else... "WHEN HAVE YOU EVER HEARD THE PHRASE "HE HELD THE WHOLE WORLD UPON HIS HEAD?" 'Shoulders' shook his and threw off his covers. Underneath, he was still fully dressed. "You could have at least talked to them," he said. "Head's do plenty of that." "COME NOW, GOOD CHAP, DON'T WORRY ABOUT THAT!" 'Head' yelled. "I DID PLENTY OF TALKING!" 'Shoulders' stared at him blankly. "Oh? Then what did you say?" "PAFO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" he shouted with glory as his head inflated like a balloon and he floated outside the hole he made in the ceiling. Watching him in disbelief, 'Shoulders' sighed, picked up his keys from the counter, and sauntered outside, hair still greasy and unruly from his slumber, and returned to the arena to fix whatever problems 'Head' let fester. TL;DR: So... many... PMs!
