To quote Archer from his reveal post: So like, Mat's role but not alignment was confirmed, right? Which means what's the point of a Medium role? To determine alignment? But Archer says that he can't do that, and that the person he talks to can lie, so what info is there really to gain that can't be left in a sayonara post like Mat did? Which leaves me thinking he's got something he can do to the recently dead player, but if someone lies about something important, it would end bad. Hence the Reviver conclusion, and a neat little explanation for why the delayed flip might exist. TBF Archer invited speculation when he claimed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ if I can do it, the elims can certainly do it, and they're privy to more info than us so. Worth considering either way.

I'm not even sure the purpose of Archer's role is to gather information, necessarily. The limitations seem odd for that, based on the context of his post today (hence me asking for specifics now). Originally I thought he'd get dropped in a temporary doc or PM with the deceased, but he @'d Mat with instructions for his questions to determine if lying was possible, which means it's getting filtered through the GM and that's like... kinda kayana. Brings me to the conclusion that the delayed flip thing and his role are only tangentially related. I'm at the point where I either believe he's a Reviver underselling the usefulness of his role to avoid the Corrupted Kill, or he's an elim using prior knowledge of the delayed flip to his advantage, and no one who died could ever accuse him of lying. Actually more that I highly doubt e!Kas could (or would) fake shuffling on and off a D1 Mat ML This is crazy because I was just thinking about how this back-and-forth had felt like a PM before you posted this

Such an incredible movie. Oh btw, just throwing this out there in the 0.00000001% case it's right, if there are actually no Village Epics and Archer, Kasimir, and Stick have all deliberately role claimed to make it look more plausible and confuse the Village further, I applaud you and gracefully accept defeat.

I could be exaggerating my confidence as confirmation It's kinda like the Archer thing, but different. Only an actual roleless villager would have the gumption in a blackout game to differentiate the two. If an elim did and they guessed wrong, it'd probably not end well. Oh, speaking of Archer. What do you think the possibility of the Corrupted Epic(s?) starting with a role that specifically interacts with Village Epics is? It's not something I really thought about at first, but could absolutely enable E!Archer to boldly claim Village Epic first to gain some cred. I probably have the benefit of coming off a stressful elim game, while you are going from one stressful village game to another, so I imagine that might be why I'm coping a lil better. Shame you didn't role elim to shake things up. The village game after would have felt like a relief Though I suppose it's not too late Tactically, I don't even think I'm that useful. I spent all of the last 48 hours tunneling on Mat and by the end of it I was convinced he was village, only for him to still end up dead. I can't even remember the last time I caught an elim, yet a bunch of the players in this game stomped an entire anon team. At this point, I believe in y'all more than I do in me

I'm kinda over caring about getting night killed tbh. Part of how I'm keeping chill is constantly reminding myself that this is a game meant for fun I can be wrong, and I can die, and that's perfectly fine. That said, I could be lying about being a Regular ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ People look down on vanilla claims for narrowing down the power roles, but that's no longer true if the power roles claim vanilla too So basically, if they want to kill me, then I'll take it as a compliment and eat popcorn with Mat in the dead doc

Makes sense, given Kas' Inception claim. Fun! Since you expressed a desire to live and do role stuff last cycle, did you manage to get a first action off? Don't have to be specific, just curious if there was some kind of info gain.

@_Stick_ oh yeah btw, since you claimed a role, is it Epic flavored or non-epic flavored (like Mat's)?

Sorry about that figured it'd be better to warn you now if true, rather than let you get caught by surprise later. "Events" were mentioned at one point, right? Possible that if conversion is possible, it's balanced around scenarios. Like, only a single Epic will convert after a specific number of turns have passed, or some kind of specific role interaction occurs. Either way, not worth thinking about too much right now, exe discussion should be a priority.

Fascinating. To be fair, such a theory hinges on whether or not Striker was honest about his neutral claim. He could still be lying, and you could still be safe from conversion. But the lack of the kill does suggest it's possible. I'm currently wondering if there's like, just one lonely Corrupted Epic right now who figured using their power to do something other than kill was more useful C1. Proper name is what I expected. Very neat. Can't wait to see the full role distro at the end. ED1T: Well, not exactly. Cause like, even being "Regular Corrupted Epic" wouldn't necessarily suggest that Village has Regulars too. Plus the fact that Regular Corrupted Epic doesn't make sense compared to something like Corrupted Epic Henchman. In either case, an elim going out of their way to clarify the distinction about something they don't know is a huge risk if they're wrong.

It'd be kayana for an elim to make a distinction between Vanilla and Regular when you did. Not exactly a fair deduction considering I was privy to the same nomenclature from the start, but I'm also not going to deny my one absolute trust

Oh yeah, what do you think the chances of your role being duplicated are? Given the nature of the game setting, I would personally expect wholly unique roles (with some overlap).

That's fair. I'm not exactly worried about the explicit text, just the general flavor. Like, the fact that Striker pointed out the beating-weakness-no-longer-evil thing is either elim fake claim overcompensation or genuine, which is interesting. Cause, like, the next question is, did all Village Epics beat their weakness too? If not, then is it just a matter of time until they go crazy? Basically my theory is there is a conversion mechanic in this game, but it's random chance for every Epic.

And now the real fun begins I heckin love solving blackout puzzles. Notes: The renowned Scientist of the Knighthawk, not a. This suggests the role is not duplicated. Not an Epic, meaning there are non-Epic roles. But how many??? A whole lot of limitations. Can only harvest cells from the most recent death. Motivators cannot be stockpiled. 1-time use. Can't be passed to the same target twice in a row. Mat's previous statement of "Does not make sense for an elim." Do I agree? Are the limitations too much? We can probably reason out Mat's alignment based on this information, if anyone cares enough to try. I'd rather save that until C3 in case a delayed alignment flip doesn't happen. But I do believe this says things about the overall role distribution. For example, that's a lot of friggin vote manipulation. 2 votes lost on Mat (1 removed by Kasimir, 1 unknown). 2 votes lost on Karn (Kas vote replaced by Karn's, yet 2 are missing nonetheless) 1 vote added to Stick (currently unknown) While Kas has claimed a rioter-esque role, I'd like to propose that not all of these manipulations are traditional. For example, @StrikerEZ, does your role happen to give you double the vote? Is that why you felt the need to participate in an exe when you were thinking about claiming neutral anyway? I'm guessing you have an Executioner like wincon, and for some reason you thought Stick was your target (presumably for having a role). If it helps, I'm not an advocate of neutral-lynching, and would be willing to help you achieve your wincon if you can provide reliable information. Alternatively, Illwei could have a role that doubles her voting power. She was the only Stick voter that wasn't on at EoD. If Devotary were to have a role like that, for instance, I'd bet that sudden drop in other voters would have made her drop off too, as to not give herself away (from either alignment). Regarding Karn, he could similarly have a role that passively removes one (or half of the) vote(s) against him. Wouldn't mind testing that tbh. I have theories. I'll get to them later tho. Appreciate the role claim. Question. Striker explicitly stated his role beat his weakness. Does yours too? Does @Archer's? Honestly, if someone did, I 100% support a public claim. Given the lack of an elim kill and alignment flip, knowing someone was actively blocked would give us context we really do need. Also, good work, if true! Hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed participating in it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The point of my voting him / encouraging others to join was never that I thought Karn was an elim. And tbh, I don't even think debating his EoD from either alignment is productive without a Mat/Stick flip. I baited him into joining the Mat/Stick trains for info. When I saw Thaid vote him and Mat's sayonara post, I baited everyone present into joining a new Karn train for more info. It's that EoD activity I care about, not Karn's. Like for example, Stink was debating between Mat and Karn over Stick, which could mean Stink/Stick E/E. For another, Experience actively resisted the Karn exe, which could mean they're E/E. For another, you kept your vote on Stick and commented on different possibilities, which isn't a post you'd have made otherwise and something I can now scrutinize to figure out your alignment better. For someone who didn't want to participate in the last 40 hours of the previous turn, you're suddenly invested in the lack of an elim kill. How does that throw you off? What were you on in the first place that could be thrown off? Okay, tbh, I feel like I need to understand how your role works. Do you submit questions in your GM PM, then receive answers from Mat via the GM? Since you're my only 100% confirmed village read, can you please expand on this more? What don't you like about Stick? What do you like about Karn? You must have missed my (albeit few) posts about you Why did your opening post include "blackouts are fun!"? Why did you go inactive pretty much right after? Weird, I thought I was the only person to do the ED1T, ED2T, ED3T thing. Did I pick that up from somewhere else without knowing?

Only stayed up to drop a meme. Not perfect, but the point is there That's a whole lot of vote manipulation Devotary. Is anyone reading Devo as Village? If so, why? Will reply to any posts in the morning. G'night ya'll. Hoping to see Archer prove he can talk with Mat by then.

I think I also fundamentally believe that if Mat and Stick are both Village, it's something that could be worked out over time without necessitating a flip. Things like proving / keeping track of Mat's role, getting Stick involved in more discussions, etc. I really don't think being an exe candidate means you need to be exed eventually. If there's more reasoning, sure, but I wouldn't go into C2 gunning for Mat all over again.

Sounds like something who's E/E with Karn would say ED1T: FTR, I'm also interested in a Devotary exe tbh. Nothing they've done has left me feeling Village about them, regardless of whether Mat is Village or Elim.

I'm not taaalking about the question point. It was a very smol thing I wondered about briefly, and Kas ran with. All I said was that I found it surprising. Re: defeating the purpose of the game being a blackout. Like, what? Assuming Archer is being honest about his claim, his role provides context to him about the game because of how his role interacts with it. This same thing would apply to elims UNLESS they had a mix of traditional roles and roleless. If even one of them has a slightly unusual role, it provides them all with implications for how village roles might be balanced against them. ED1T: I'm also willing to bet the elims were already aware of the whole Purgatory situation that Archer's claim suggests. I'm certain they have at least one role that interacts with that mechanic too. ED2T: TBF I really want a repeat of my first Mafia Championship Game where myself and a few other villagers last-minute pivoted on an elim who'd not even been discussed at the very last minute due to EoD activity.
