When a Sleepless leaves, he really bugs out. Why can't Shallan make winter clothes? Because she's a Light weaver. Why did Dracula go to Roshar? He was looking for Night blood.

We might see this in flashbacks in books 6-10

theory Who and What Surge Shattered The Plains?
Brgst13 replied to Child of Hodor's topic in Stormlight Archive
I really like this theory. I think these craters were originally domes to shelter the Heralds while they shattered the Plains. -
Also, one of the biggest delays for the Alethi was ridging the chasms. This is irrelevant for the Parshendi because they jump the gap instead.

I was thinking about the effects of Ba-Ado-Mishram's imprisonment on the parshmen and realized how in some ways they are similar to the Heralds. 1. They were both Connected to a "God" The Heralds to Honor, the parsh to Odium/BAM 2. That Connection was severed. Honor died, BAM imprisoned. 3. That severing had effects on the Connected entities. The Heralds seemed to invert their personalities, the parsh lost their identity. 4. That Connection can be restored. For parsh, the Everstorm does the job. Talk and Ash were clearly Connected to Dalinar when he opens Honor's Perpendicularity. 5. Restoring the Connection seems to reverse issues. Listeners can hear Rhythms again, Taln seems sane. Conclusion: Both the Heralds' insanity and the parsh slave form are a result of severed Spiritual connection. Thoughts?

Honor's death is the catalyst that allowed these things to happen. His absence may be what allowed BAM to use Voidlight and Forms of Power. He was there to counsel Melishi on the wisdom of imprisoning BAM. Perhaps Cultivation saw the path the KR were heading down and used the False Desolation as a "pruning" that allowed humanity time to grow and change before the KR returned and a new Desolation occurred.

We did, but the OP was asking about using a Radiant spren to change to a new Form.

Can tin store perfect pitch and perfect color recognition
Brgst13 replied to Koloss17's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I bet you could split and store sight by color groups, and taste by receptor. You could draw on taste to detect minute concentrations of things, like a shark. Imagine if you could boost your red-green color vision to detect changes in blood flow.- 25 replies

I wonder how Ambition would pair with two shards locked into immobility. Could be fun!

Can tin store perfect pitch and perfect color recognition
Brgst13 replied to Koloss17's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I'm not sure it could be stored in a zincmind, either. From the Coppermind: If we are agreeing that perfect pitch is a proceesing-related phenomena, then you would still get the note right every time, it might just take a bit longer.- 25 replies

@Aspiring Writer I misunderstood the question. That being said, once the shard is put back together, there seems to be no reason it could not be picked up. It would be basically the same situation under which Sazed picked up Ruin and Preservation.

Can tin store perfect pitch and perfect color recognition
Brgst13 replied to Koloss17's topic in Cosmere Discussion
This is an interesting question. If you got perfect pitch from the Second Heightening, then you could store the Breaths in a metal mind. But what about normal perfect pitch? Perfect pitch is not a function of the ear; people with perfect pitch do not hear differently than the rest of us. Rather, their brains process the information differently. Therefore, perfect pitch would not likely be able to be stored in a tin mind. The analogy here is muscle memory not being stored in a Coppermind. Perfect color awareness is trickier. I would argue that the answer here depends on how this awareness works. Peolpe with perfect color awareness are likely to have tetrachromacy. Research suggests that tetrachromacy would allow the eye to have a fourth absorption peak around 380nm. Given that the lens absorbs most light between 300-400 nm, it is not clear if this fourth cone is significant to perfect color awareness. In addition, it is not known if the optic nerve has capacity for a fourth pathway. If perfect color awareness is a result of eye structure, then it is likely able to be stored in a tinmind However, perfect color vision may be a result of processing in the brain, rather than a change in input.- 25 replies

Elantrian with Spiritual Adhesion. You could Connect to a place, open a Perpendicularity, and have unlimited Aonic power (especially if you could use a glyph to keep the Perpendicularity open).

Plate: Gregor Clegane's armor from GoT with glyphs all over it. Blade: Final Fantasy type blades (Brotherhood, Ultima Sword, etc.) Nightblood: Japanese katana

1. Kaladin- his desire to succeed and his honor juxtaposed against bouts of depression speaks to me. I am hoping he winds up holding Honor's power. 2. Rysn- she is a view onto a very different part of the world. Most of what we see so far is Alethicentric, while she has shown us several other cultures. 3. Dalinar- his redemption from a force of chaos and destruction to the leader of the Knights Radiant has been fascinating. The scenes with him and the Stormfather are phenomenal.

I suspect that the King's Drop (Honor's Drop? Or another perfect gem?) is a pear cut. Broams and smaller in my headcannon are either oval or emerald cut, enclosed in a glass sphere.

Shadesmar Beads and Grain Entrapment/Engulfment
Brgst13 replied to Jozomby's topic in Stormlight Archive
Hmmm...this is interesting. In my head cannon, the beads are about the size of a peach. I will have to do a reread and see if the size is mentioned. EDIT: after checking the Coppermind, the spheres are bean sized or slightly smaller than a fingernail. This is considerably larger than maize, which allows more space between particles even when densely packed. I would like to know if the buoyancy is the ship truly floating or compressing the beads under the ship into a regular structure, which then supports the ship. If the ship was large enough, this should be possible, where the beads behave like water molecules. I wonder also if there are the equivalent of intermolecular forces between the beads. Given that they ripple like an ocean, I would expect some form of cohesion force to exist -
I'd love to see the story of the Evil coming to Threnody and the flight to Hell.

My theory is that the Rhythms are a result of interaction between the Investiture of multiple Shards. For example, the Bronze pulses are a result of Ruin and Preservation's Investitures. The old Rhythms are from Honor and Cultivation, while the addition of Odium produced the new Rhythms. They would seem similar since they have the same underlying cause, but odd because of the different Shards involved.

I agree that Emperor's Soul is super solid and a great choice for top spot. I think Shadows for Silence is grossly underrated however. In many ways the writing style and tone are something totally different than anything in the Cosmere. I think it gets underrated because of its color. To me each of Sanderson's books/series has a "color" associated with it. Emperor's Soul is sky blue with puffy white clouds. Sixth of the Dusk is a water blue. Stormlight Archive is highstorm gray. Mistborn era 1 is the red of forged iron. Era 2 is the brown of a dirt road. Generally, these are colors of power or happiness. Shadoes for Silence is a dark green, like the color of deep woods after a heavy rain. In addition, Shadows conveys the feel of mourning for what was lost, where most other works are more future-looking. I think the beauty of that novella is in the deep sense of sadness that pervades it, rather in a sweeping epic or desperate quest for freedom. In a way this sense of sadness is shared by Sixth of the Dusk, but that book ends with the characters looking forward to their next challenge and a sense that the world will progress. Shadows ends with the main character going back to doing exactly what she was doing when the book started.
