The Shardpool in the Horneater Peaks
CalaCrisp88 replied to VirtuousTraveller's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yeah, it might be that his only gas investiture is the highstorms/stormlight. The origin might be something else then. Or perhaps since it creates the highstorms, that also counts as a form of Honor's gas investiture. I dunno, I'm sort of just spewing out random thoughts right now. Your second point involving Oathbringer spoilers -
The Shardpool in the Horneater Peaks
CalaCrisp88 replied to VirtuousTraveller's topic in Stormlight Archive
Ruin and Preservation each had one solid, one liquid, and one gas form in the Physical Realm. Maybe the Origin (where some think Honor's Shardpool is) has his gas investiture, and the pool in the Horneater peaks had his liquid investiture. -
Actually, it has been confirmed. Don't have the exact quote, but BS said that you can steal Nahel bonds and living sprenblades. The person would indeed have to maintain the oaths in order to do magic, but it wouldn't be very likely to happen. After that, BS confirmed that "you're all sick people".

Since the ten Polestones correspond with the ten Essences, I've always thought that using certain gems to Soulcast certain Essences was because they had more affinity with the Essence, not because it was restricted to that Essence. Could, of course, be entirely wrong. I'm not basing this off of any WoB, this has just been my personal thought. Edit: For Radiant Soulcasting, anyway.

No, the books should not have an ink blot. That's hilarious hahaha

Eh, I wouldn't think so. Burning metals isn't a spoilery plot element; it's a mechanic of the magics of the world that's introduced in chapter 2.

I think it's just a thing with translating Alethi into English. You never actually hear "green on your ears" or anything like that in Warbreaker, but that's because the idioms are translated into their English equivalent. Since Roshar's idioms aren't the same as those of Nalthis, they're noticeable when Vasher uses them.

Yep, that's a pretty common theory. I think a lot of us believe it. -

Human Races on Roshar: A Brief Guide (Ver.1.0)
CalaCrisp88 replied to Botanica's topic in Stormlight Archive
Wow. Holy crap. This is awesome! Great job compiling all of that information! Must've taken a ridiculous amount of work.- 10 replies

The sword shaped glyph is probably the stylized orders glyph. They're on the hardcover underneath the paper jacket, and also at the beginning of each part in the book.

Probably the same reason the Reshi greatshell saved Rysn

What the Heralds taught Mankind
CalaCrisp88 replied to The One Who Connects's topic in Stormlight Archive
Great job compiling all that! Also welcome and congrats for your first topic! Now, I'm most confident about Shalash and Nalan. I think that Shalash taught humans about art. No real evidence for that, but she seems to be linked closely with art. One of her attributes is Creativity. Nalan may have taught justice and/or law. One of his attributes is Just. I'm not sure if their attributes matter either, but Leading links with teaching leadership, Healing links with training surgeons, Builder links with casting metal, and Dependable also kind of links with training soldiers. So from that, I'll try to make some stuff up for the other Heralds and their attributes. Paliah: Learned/Giving. Learned suggests she just taught people general education stuff. But she probably also taught them about sharing and generosity, and all that. Battar: Wisdom/Care. Wisdom... I guess maybe she taught philosophy? Ishar: Pious/Guiding. Pious means deeply devoted and faithful. Maybe he just spouted all that "Believe in your friends!" stuff, but pious is often used for a religion. Maybe he tried to teach mankind a religion or something, maybe spread knowledge of Adonalsium who was their god? Obviously though, they started worshipping Tanavast and the Heralds instead. I have no idea where "Herald of Luck" fits into all that though. Anyway, I sort of went on a tangent there. Keep in mind much of what I just said is groundless speculation. I've never really thought about it before but this question actually really interests me. Edit: Also just thought I'd mention I'm using my phone right now and grr that bothers me lol- 18 replies

Thoughts on the Surge of Division
CalaCrisp88 replied to one winged jhereg's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'm pretty sure all the surges only affect physical things. The ten surges are to Rosharans what the four fundamental forces (gravity, electromagnetism, strong nuclear force, weak nuclear force) are to us. I doubt any of those ten would affect the Cognitive or Spiritual Realms. -
Didn't she say she'd been 10 years old for 3 years or something? Maybe that was when she got cognitive frozen or whatever
-
Wait, what's this about a dead PoV??

Stormlight Archive Youtube miniseries
CalaCrisp88 replied to Darkness Ascendant's topic in Stormlight Archive
Hmm, this seems very interesting. Unfortunately I don't think I'll really be able to help with this project, but I'm following this thread. Will you post updates here when you make progress and stuff? -
I'm not sure if directly soulcasting two pieces of wood into one piece of wood would work. But I feel like it might be possible to soulcast the broken pieces into a different material like clay, mush them together, then soulcast the clay into wood so that it's fixed. Of course, if the clay is soft enough that you can mush two pieces together, you'd have a risk of disfiguring the rest of the object. I dunno, this is just me thinking aloud here.

Personally, I've believed that the "elemet" fron the letter is an aether. He protects it like his own skin because it's literally embedded in his skin. Let me know if there's more evidence that disproved that though.
-
Maybe his ancestors were Terris. Doesn't SA happen around/after MB Era 2? By then, the Terris people had interbred with the rest of the people. It's entirely possible for the Terris Worldbringers to end up with a Soother descendant. He might even be Twinborn then! That would be so exciting! Of course, everything we're saying is speculation and it may not be true at all :/

That would make sense to me. And didn't Dalinar hold out his sword that way in some sort of salute too?
