For being long books The Kingkiller Chronicles are surprisingly short. I am almost done with The Lies of Locke Lamora and then I shall read... one of the books lying around in my room I havent read yet... I should probably finish Perdido Street Station... though knowing myself Im just going to read another Dresden Files...

There are a couple ways this could work I guess Szeth is just one of Nalans goons (But that is boring, so it wont happen) Nightblood somehow works as a Spen and will give Szeth all the abilities he need. Szeth has to use whatever glitch Vasher is using to be able to draw in Stormlight, but when he does Nightblood will somehow work as a spren and give him the surges. Szeth will just find a way to draw in Stormlight and use Nightblood, no surges.

I have played around with a similar ability (Im not accusing you of plagiarism or anything, just saying). When the character touched objects he could 'mark' them and either teleport the objects to himself or teleport himself to the object. It is a lot more powerful than you'd expect. Anyway other powers could be interesting and distance yourself from polestones by making the crystals something else. The first thing I think of are Pearls.

Honestly I designed the magic to be able to do pretty much whatever to not lock myself down. I imagine the magic energies to be more different kinds of Investiture than Starlight is Allomancy and Moonlight is Feruchemy, so to speak. Think of them more as Investiture and... nega-investiture. But your concerns are noted.
