  1. In the past a Listener has never formed a Nahel bond but this WoB implies that it isn't impossible: I suspect that he is just being pessimistic and believe that humans will inevitably break their oaths. It happened in the past, so he thinks it will happen again.
  2. Just thought I would put this WoB in here as it is tangentially relevant.
  3. While I disagree with your opinion on it, I very much understand your reaction to Elantris. It is certainly a story that benefits from a re-read. I would advise re-reading it with the mindset that Hrathen is the hero of the story from the beginning; I suspect you'll find it to be quite a bit more interesting. Regarding Cosmeric relevance, In addition to Hoid and Galladon; I would focus on the sculptures and such in the room that leads to Devotion's perpendicularity, this was our best source for Worldhopping for quite a while. Also the Realmatic implication of the Dor is very interesting. In addition, Hoid's failed experiment in the epilogue gives some interesting clues regarding identity and how the Shardic magic works. It also is a decent indication of Hoid's lack of understanding regarding Identity (at the time), if he had a better understanding he would have known from the get-go that it would not work.
  4. The Thrill is a product of Nergaoul one of the Unmade.
  5. Based on nothing other than a gut feeling... The Dustbringers shattered the plains.
  6. I've had the idea bouncing around in my head for a while that it may have to do with the Purelake fish having symbiotic relationships with Spren similar to the Ryshadium. Ishikk seems familiar with them and mentions (in his internal monologue) that a fish my be able to find Hoid.
  7. @Idealistic, I always just think "Bono quote".
  8. Sometimes the obvious and easy choice is actually the right one. Due to Brandon's penchant for misdirection in these types of matters, I wouldn't be surprised if Brandon goes with the obvious choice and falls back on people thinking "no, that is too obvious". I would guess that Odium's champion will be Eshonai.
  9. Yes, yes, all the way yes. I would upvote this 100 more times if I could. On the topic of Wheel of Time: Elaida do Avriny a'Roihan A couple of others: Elantris: Sarene (although I find her more annoying than worthy of hatred) Kingkiller Chronicles: Denna A Song of Ice and Fire: Theon Greyjoy, Joffrey Baratheon Harry Potter: Dolores Umbridge (This one feels a bit like cheating as I actually really enjoy how awful she is... in my opinion she is one of the better written characters in all of literature.)
  10. I thought of this as well. The reality is though, we do not know how far of a distance that a Squire can be from their Radiant and still use their powers. It is possible the Narak is close enough to the war camps that Squire powers are still active. With that said, I suspect you are indeed right and Lopen is a Proto-Radiant with a Spren.
  11. Reckoners, Wheel of Time, Rithmatist, Alcatraz, etc., etc.
  12. Rules are meant to be broken.
  13. The are very likely native to Roshar. Through other WoB we also know that they are not of Honor and not originally of Cultivation or Odium. I would guess they were created by Adonalsium when he created Roshar.
  14. This 1000th post brought to you by Rick Sanchez: I had intended to do something big for it like @Pagerunner... but, what can you do...? GET SCHWIFTY, that's what.
  15. I think the reason Nightblood is so large is more mundane (not necessarily the weight though). He is proportioned for a Returned.
  16. "If you ever meet a Malkieri, you tell him Jain Farstrider died clean." Edit: You might want to check the last name in the spoiler tags... X_X
  17. To the best of my knowledge this was the first confirmation that Demoux is Thinker:
  18. Probably Lightsong or Shallan Davar. I actually don't drink soda and haven't in years but when I was younger I preferred Pepsi. Good Will Hunting The Kraken
  19. @Yata, you are ridiculously handsome, good on you mate.
  20. I'm a little disappointed that no one has suggested Lightsong and Jasnah yet, oh the half rants/half philosophical musings would be amazing.
  21. @King Cole, always. A few others: Maes Hughes Arya Stark Kvothe Severus Snape Min Farshaw
  22. Nah, I intentionally didn't invite that guy... he can't be trusted...
