Game of thrones - one of the only shows where you need your hands over Alt+Tab at every moment. Who knows when your mother might walk into the room? Happened to me; the awkwardness, screams and lectures are worth avoiding. Watch out for the moment when they refuse to believe that it is a TV series on the grounds that it would apparently be illegal to show it in films and television; I actually had to go get a TV schedule and show her that Game of Thrones was an actual TV series.

Mennet slipped two Sterions into the inside pockets of his coat. You could never be too careful at a time like this. But somehow, he doubted whether he could get them out in time if the Coinshot Clan decided to kill him. Requesting to join as Mennet Farrsolin. Note that I'm not planning to actually use said guns in-game.

Action Summary: No actions at the moment... this is meant to be an rp as well as an incredibly long complicated game of Risk, right? All right, fine, I'm designating Mai as the current heir. Mennet Farrsolin Mennet smiled, lowering Mai onto his knee and putting his wineglass to one side. Two emerald orbs stared up at him, as if in question. She was learning to talk, albeit slowly, but his daughter preferred silence to conversation. There was something in those eyes, some spark of... curiosity? Yes, that's what it was. He muttered a silent prayer of thanks, running a finger through a few thin strands of auburn air. He Pulled on a coin across the room, counter-balancing it with a Push once it was close to his hand. The result held the metal suspended five inches from Mennet's palm, catching Mai's attention. She was fascinated with Iron and Steel; her perspective of physics was being built around floating metal. Mennet gave a small chuckle at the thought; she would need that perspective, if she were to become Mistborn. He remembered how long it had taken him to trust in his powers, barely understanding them. Mai wouldn't have that disadvantage. 'We live in a city of whipped dogs,' Mennet sighed. The words rolled over Mai, processed but not entirely understood. Mennet was glad for that; it meant she could hold her innocence for a few more years. Hopefully a decade. 'Dogs, when beaten, roll over. They pretend submission, but inside, they are scheming for ways to avenge themselves. Whether it be refusing to save their master from drowning in a river, or pushing him into that river... This empire isn't going to last ten years.' His tone grew melancholy as he surveyed Luthadel from his balcony perch. 'Chaos. Chaos is the enemy. Tell me, little one, what causes chaos?' He took an arm from its position cradling Mai's head and swept it to the horizon. 'A great thinker from before the Age of Deepness once speculated that ambition causes chaos. He was wrong, though his logic was sound.' A brief cough; Mennet was now approaching his fifties. He had never felt like a young man, or had forgotten when he had, but this... A brief tap of pewter fended off the ache in his bones. 'No, inefficiency causes chaos. Lord Urbain was a drunkard who padded behind his betters, seeking to ape them yet falling short like a carpenter with broken fingers aping his master. He stumbled through Luthadel like a drunken bull in a crowded marketplace, sowing chaos where he walked. If the skaa paid more attention to the nobility, they would begin to doubt our right to rule - after all, what god would put a drunkard in a position of such power? Thank the Lord Ruler that Lady Elariel brought him to heel.' Mennet reached out and took a sip of his wine. It was old wine from before the Deepness, recovered from his former family's estates. Father had been much like Gammic, and prized his alcohol over his riches. Everything of value burned, himself included, except this one bottle of wine, hidden in a bunker beneath the estate. But then, could you expect anything else from a riotweed addict? 'Lord Tekiel is efficient. Across a few short years, he deceived all of high noble society, and conquered Fadrex without anyone else's knowledge. He struck without mercy and without giving his opponent any time to think. He was a lightning bolt, a flash of white from the heavens before King Fadrex died and five thousand koloss marched into the city to massacre their way through countless civilians. Lord Tekiel prevented a war by destroying the enemy's ability to make war. 'Lord Erikell is efficient. While other lords were looking for how to best exploit one another, Lord Erikell set up the first true signs of extended governance. He brought the skaa around Luthadel to heel, and broke their spirits before they could rise up and challenge him. A broken worker has no ambition but to avoid the next beating. 'I...' Mennet swallowed the rest of his wine. 'I was inefficient. Do better than I did. Foster stability. Order. Not chaos. Not like I did, at the beginning. Order is maintained through contrasts. Strengthen the strong, and weaken the weak. Do the Farrsolin name well, because I haven't.' He took in the last few drops. 'Keep this empire alive, little one. Without someone like you or me, it will fracture.'

Could I ask whether the Luthadel Central Canal links up with other canals? One of my fallback plans was to charge 1 wealth to anyone shipping into Luthadel if I ran low on wealth, but I'm not sure whether it works like that, or if it just counts as a regular canal to areas inside Luthadel. On another note, do you have to publicly acknowledge that you are cancelling an action? Because I can already see situations in my head where players would deliberately mislead one another. Example: Scheming Nobleman to Forum: I'm buying (insert object here) Scheming Nobleman to Wyrmhero: I'm sending Mistborn to assassinate Scheming Nobleman II instead of buying (insert object here)

Time for the most generic of actions - I'm trying for an heir, alongside probably the entire Final Empire. By the way, does Snapping ever come in as a mechanic? Do I need to weigh the odds of the child being Mistborn compared to my family disliking me? Male name: Jorah Female name: Moira

My question: Why are letters with no right to be capitals made capitals? And is it possible to autoban anyone who uses the words 'black magic specialist in (etc)' with random capital letters thrown in? Also, is he just doing it to troll us?

To all law enforcement entities, this is not an admission of guilt, but out of the eight players I've associated with in alliances, I betrayed seven. I have no idea how you resist the temptation.

Note: I am cancelling all actions save for trying for an heir (male name: Melic, female name: Mai). On another note, to all my allies, I am renouncing any association so as to maintain a reputation. Your secrets are safe; my new reputation is to be one of neutrality and anonymity. Also, trying to avoid giving names, but the lord who conspires against Walin, has no Mistborn and has an informant on Walin's plans, Erikell will betray you to him without a bribe. Mennet of House Farrsolin Mennet sighed, leafing through page after page of negotiations and bribes. A bribe to Erikell, a canal agreement with Walın, a trade with Tekiel... This was getting tedious. Very, very tedious. Lesser houses were queing up to arrange marriages between their children and Mennet's. Greater houses were competing to see who could betray one another the fastest - and Mennet was no exception. He sighed, glancing over the different pages. Messages from lords Aonar and Urbain. Threats from Erikell. Toxic promises from some, betrayals from others that might as well have been announced with a signal flare for all the subtlety they had. Mennet thought on the latest betrayal inflicted on House Farrsolin. One of the people he had sent the message to had a mouth as big as the Central Dominance for its security, and now his plans were unravelling. Lord Wain knew of his conspiracy, Lord Erikell knew of his betrayal, Lord Walin probably knew as well... Mennet hissed, crumpling the pages into a tight fist, then scattering them into the hearth. Most of them were still un-read. His servant walked in and noticed the pieces of ash cluttering the fire. Mennet sighed, then muttered his commands half-heartedly. This was going to be a difficult choice, but all his plans had gone awry. 'Send messengers to Lord Erikell, tell him his bribe won't come. Inform Lords Walin and Aonar that I am cutting ties. Tekiel and Wain can rot in the Deepness for all I care. And tell the coalition that I'm finished with them.' Mennet sighed. That was it... all his associations, smoldering in the hearth. Mennet pointed to a map hanging on the wall, which his servant obligingly carried over. Mennet traced his finger over several rivers. 'And buy up these canals. I want them flowing within the week.' Action 1 Who? Mennet, in his capacity as House Lord What? Buying canals and caravan routes to the different dominances. When? Second action for the turn Why? To charge others for use of said canals. I will eventually expand to cover the more distant dominances. Other Notes: Buying two canal routes, one to Fadrex and another through the central dominance

Thanks. And is it just me, or are only two posts in this entire thread actually about alt accounts? I'll use an intermediary, like you suggested.

Getting some help for an awesome music shop and this site.
Adamir replied to Rubix's topic in 17th Shard Discussion
Another shameless bump; so far, I've gotten three promises by people to add their accounts, although I suspect that it is more of a 'if I say yes, will you shut up?' kind of promise. Their accounts still aren't in the list, though. -
It's different, and therefore it's RUINED. If I put aside the primacy effect that gives me an automatic bias to the old layout... This works a lot better.

I remember seeing someone post about a tornado of zombie caribou, or something like that. I'll join as soon as my laptop gets fixed - I'm not planning to rp on my iPhone screen (autocorrect can't handle names less common than Jack or Dave, imagine if I try writing something like Sourcefield or Nightcrawler; both of which I've had to write twice in this post because of autocorrect)

If the scheming politics of Heirs to the Final Empire haven't crawled in, I will once the one I'm in is over. Thanks!

It has seeped out of Sanderson Elimination into the role playing category in general... No where is safe. The entire forum is doomed! Doomed, I tell you! DOOOOOOMED!!! (All the arguments and broken friendships of Sanderson elimination and debate forums, with none of the almost non-existent positives)

I am currently in a forum rp where one of my long term plans requires me to deliver an untraceable anonymous message to another player - am I allowed to use an alt for this, for the select use of sending one message and never touching said account again? I know alts have been used for reputation abuse - up voting yourself, down voting others more than the normally accepted amount, etc. Is there any way to lock the reputation voting for said account, to dissipate moderator concerns? For context: Not betraying someone in the rp I am in constitutes love and affection, qualities severely lacking in said rp. Everyone and their dog would sell the information that I contacted them if I use my actual account. So far, I have been betrayed three times (that I know of) in one week, and have committed the same number of betrayals. I'm probably going to get betrayed by my alliance once they notice this post on the basis that the anonymous message I need to drop could be betraying them.

That pug looks suspicious - should I be worried? I can just about recall a scene from an espionage film wherein an informant had that very same expression and paranoid attitude; they're on to me, he seemed to be saying. And I just knew that he would get murdered right before he could give the protagonist vital information... As for my question, is that your pug? If so, don't let him set up clandestine meetings with 007, he will get murdered and his body left at the meeting place to set the protagonist on a revenge-fueled mission.

Shardblade Hemalurgy/How to resurrect a Spren [Speculation]

Insane enough to actually work... -
Not to necro an old thread, but would it be possible to update this with the information we got since 2011? (Aona and Skai's shard names, Szeth's honorblade, etc)
-
Not to burst anyone's bubble, but wasn't there a topic two weeks ago titled 'what a fancy forum'? Then again, it was severely lacking in Kobold poetry and was several times as depressing.
-
Finally got my vote working - we only have 74? How many users are on this forum? It probably isn't my place to judge, but... Come on. We have less than a week... I'm sharing this on Facebook, good deed for the day done. (All joking aside, I think I can get at least five more votes, hopefully a lot more.

Wait, its possible to cancel? Then mind if I cancel the action where I'm 'testing alloys', to do something useful? I can't quite see the long term benefit when the first turn seems so important - I was a complete idiot to waste all my actions on Day 1, without waiting for everyone else so I could react instead of rushing into things.

Small details that may have a huge impact

While this may not apply, there was some rather obvious foreshadowing of Zahel being Vasher; he refers to ardents as 'monks', a word used only on Nalthis. -
I've tried voting several times, and it keeps saying 'network error'; this has happened on a few other sites for me as well. I'll try on a different computer, I have a feeling its a problem with my laptop.
