  1. I'll go with the google doc suggestion, then. Is anyone willing to help with it?
  2. Just a small suggestion that probably won't have much impact; I'm not saying change what some of the ranks are, just slip a few more in as Easter eggs. For example, someone with precisely 50 Reputation points would have the rank 'First Heightening', or possibly 'aura recognition', but at 49 and 51 it reverts back to the usual. I'm suggesting single reputation point rankings, that only hold to one specific number and no others. To save people the trouble of finding a Warbreaker Ars Arcanum, I'll post one below. 50 - Aura Recognition 200 - Perfect Pitch 600 - Perfect Color Recognition 1,000 - Perfect Life Sense 2,000 - Agelessness 3,500 - Instinctive Awakening 5,000 - Invested Breath Recognition 10,000 - Command Breaking 20,000 - Greater Awakening (not that I expect anyone to get this far... KoboldKing, that is a challenge) 50,000 - Audible Command, Color Distortion, Perfect Invocation, Mental Command (okay, I'll admit 10 is a bit ludicrous, and no one will reach it)
  3. What I meant was, make it possible to add 'owners' of any given post. This means that the other 'owners' will also be allowed to edit that post, and add additional owners if necessary. This would mean no work required of the mods once the feature was in; it could work as a collaboration between different regular users. Maybe there could be a way to set different 'ranks' for the owners? Perhaps to theme the ranks around different Cosmere concepts? For example, Tenth Heightening: Able to edit, add new owners and remove old owners Fifth Heightening: Able to edit and add new owners Third Heightening: Able to edit First Heightening: Regular viewer Of course, using Heightenings wouldn't really work (what about 2, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9?), but I'm sure someone will think of something.
  4. And thus the true face of the internet is revealed - we are seriously discussing how to most efficiently commit human sacrifice without any of the Dark Powers going to waste.
  5. SOYLENT GREEN COOKIES IS PEOPLE ARE HEMALURGIC!
  6. I vote in favor of whatever puts me in charge of a city (such as what you suggested), although I'm not entirely sure I'm going with Jeherian as my direction for the rp
  7. Repeated in a Tony Soprano voice, that sounds incredibly sinister...
  8. Is it when Mostly because I remember her Duralumin-Steelpushing to reach her target,
  9. I'm guessing any complaint against said cookies would be like screaming 'SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE' as the corporations drag me away. Ever since someone broke into my house and... converted... me by use of some very delicious spiked cookies forced down my throat, I've decided to stop protesting the arrival of delicious and definitely not hemalurgic cookies.
  10. My dream cast for Mistborn... Hmm... No-one. I'm serious - the books just wouldn't translate well to live action. An anime could work; maybe the same team who worked on Attack on Titan? If you want to know why, examine the Mobility Gear scenes; they could perfectly convey Allomantic combat. Now if we were to make a film, allow me to decide on director. And please, don't kill me for this. Michael Bay. Now, I know what you're thinking. Stop those thoughts right now - I mean Michael Bay, on a tight leash, working with someone else. If they could deviate - for example, Bay doing action sequences (the only thing he does right) and someone sane doing everything else, the film could be brilliant.
  11. Note: This has probably been posted before. If so, could I ask for a link? Just a thought, but what happens if a Feruchemist's Metalmind is snapped in half? Or, if its melted down and reforged into two different objects? My idea of how a Feruchemist's charge works is by imbuing the Cognitive aspect of an object - meaning that they would be storing in a full metal table instead of a small piece, because the table views itself as one object. If that object were to be broken into two, with a Feruchemical charge imbued in the original, what would happen? If we take the concept further, what if a Feruchemist stores in a metal piece inside an otherwise non-metal object (such as a nail in a table)? The nail and table view themselves as one thing; so if they were to be separated, would the Feruchemical charge split between them?
  12. That... is... terrifying. Just an idea: Put a group of people in a straight line, and have the one in the lead standing slightly to the side, so that a bullet that hits the others through the heart will instead strike one of his bind points, and get stuck. Shoot through them (don't ask me how one bullet would get through ten people in one shot, only to get stuck in the eleventh), and even if there's hemalurgic decay, with the speed of bullets it will be almost completely unnoticeable.
  13. He won't get the joke, unless he's been lurking for a while.
  14. I have a feeling that, as everyone else (including me) has already written a long introduction sequence that goes by the Terrisman story, we might be sticking to it. But then again, it might change to the canon version. Also, on another note, mind if, even if I get a bead, you disqualify my action? I don't intend to spend most of the RP living in a city miles from Luthadel.
  15. If I don't get a bead, mind if you disqualify that action? Thanks
  16. Mennet glanced down the hill, to the city arrayed beneath. Jeherian, once his home, and once a center for worship of Terr. And now... a den of heretics. Once, Jeherian was a grand city of many thousands. Now, it was a shell inhabited by refugees from the hamlets, superstitious folk who believed whatever they were told. There were Kordels, Trellists, Astalsi... Everything but Terrs*1. These were men who had turned against the true believers, simply because of their clear superiority to mortal men. The new Jeherians had butchered the surviving old, simply because they were afraid. Because the old were 'cursed' by Trell, or Skai, or Ati, or whichever god they prayed to, simply because their lineage was thick with Feruchemists... Mennet realized he was physically shaking, his arm trembling with his sword. His people... His people had survived the breaking and re-making of the world. They were the Rashek had seen fit to move the city itself to keep it safe. And these invaders just... they just butchered them! The sword flew from his hand, embedding itself in the ground. Mennet stared at it. He still wasn't in full control of his powers, though he had been learning how to better use them. The others in the Nine had spread out across the world, sizing up the lands they would own, and most of them were barely past basic pushing and pulling. Mennet had advanced quickly, almost too quickly. He had embraced these new powers, and let them become a part of himself, to the point where their use was determined by instinct rather than choice. Jeherian would be his, no matter what. He and his wife had left it as priests, but would return as conquerors. Mennet and Elona would bring the survivors to heel for what they did to the old Jeherians. Mennet sighed, beginning to plan. The governmental structure was fragile, consisting of just a Lord and a council of twenty four men. If they were to die, the city would be in anarchy, waiting for the most powerful man to seize control. He would be that man. Who? - Mennet, in his capacity as Mistborn What? - Planning how to seize the city with just one Mistborn and no army Where? - On the border between the Central Dominance and the Western Dominance. Nineteen hours to what will become Luthadel by pewter run, six by spike-road, a week by horse. When? - Around three weeks after the shelter was opened, long enough for Mennet to learn the basics of Allomancy. First action of the turn Why? - Mennet is planning to conquer Jeherian, his original home, to establish a long term power base and bring another city into Rashek's final empire Other Notes - Rashek actually ordered the new Lord of Jeherian to slaughter the original inhabitants, when he realized that the ones he hadn't turned into Mistwraiths could still manifest Feruchemy in their descendants, promising him a Lerasium bead in exchange; Rashek does not intend to deliver on the promise, as he already gave the nine beads to the starting characters. (Note that, before he set up the breeding programs, the Final Empire was attempting Terris genocide) *1 This is not a spelling mistake; I meant believers in Terr, not the Terris peoples.
  17. Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall light no fire, bear no flames, warm no Shallan. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the stick in the darkness. I am the branch on the walls. I am not the fire that burns against the cold, not the light that brings the dawn, not the horn that wakes the sleepers, not the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Church of the Stick, for this night and all the nights to come
  18. If I could provide infinite upvotes, I would.
  19. Note: Do all the first turn's actions take place directly after leaving the shelter, or is there any gap between leaving the shelter and turn 1? If there isn't a gap, *insert training montage here*. And what happens if, with many/all of the survivors in the shelter being Terris, some of them manifest Feruchemy? On another note, the Lord Ruler stated that he liked to trigger a House War every two or three centuries. Does that mean that House Wars will be inevitable? And if not, is infighting allowed? (If it is, I'll assume it will heavily damage reputation with the Ministry and Lord Ruler). And finally, is it possible to reset House Reputation by having your own character assassinated by the heir? Would that reset it, at the cost of your character?
  20. Wantwantwantwantwantwantwantwantwantwantwantwant- Okay, Adamir, compose yourself, pull yourself together... All right, then, my application. Mennet of House Farrsolin (Faa-hhr-su-Lin) 'Will you follow me?' Mennet glanced to the ground, slinking further back to the shadows. Rashek - Rashek! Rashek had grasped the power of Terr himself; Mennet was unworthy to even look upon his God. He had nothing to his name, no lands, no titles, only a reputation for piety. It was why, in such a small shelter, he had been allowed at the exclusion of the unworthy, those without the soul to pray for salvation, with only the axe to try to break into the shelter... No, he was unworthy to even look upon his God. One by one, Rashek's audience stepped forwards to accept the gift and pledge their fealty. Mennet stayed at the far wall, eyes downcast. What could he offer Rashek that the others could not offer many times over? Some who bent the knee were lords, others kings. Mennet was nothing but a priest, not even worthy for a family name. A priest faced with his God, and unable to serve him... 'You.' Mennet cringed as Rashek raised a finger. Cold, black eyes that for a brief second seemed to hold the weight of eternity. If there had been any doubt before, it was gone - those eyes, they were proof. Rashek was a sliver of Terr. 'Do you deny my gifts?' 'No,' Mennet stuttered. 'I - I am but... I am but a priest, my Lord. There is nothing I can give in return for your gift.' 'Do you take me for a merchant?' Rashek hissed, his voice raking Mennet like knives onto his ears. 'Do you understand what is a trade, and what is a gift?' His voice softened, but only slightly. 'Do you know how many people have died today, so that others could live? There are nine people here whom I consider worthy of the gift. Bend the knee, and accept your place among them.' Mennet bent the knee. 'I have brought low great kingdoms, flattened hill and raised mountain. The sky is thick with ash because of my benevolence. Who is more worthy to power than a priest who put his family name aside for his God? I... I am your god, Mennet Terr. And my priests are my family. Now stand, and accept Terr's gift to his faithful.' And with that, Rashek opened his hand, exposing a glittering, white bead of metal. 'Mennet Terr, I name you Mennet Farrsolin - Mennet the Faithful. Rise, and accept.'
  21. By that logic, that the Shards' intent can create the magic system, it could be possible that illusion-based magic is a direct attempt by the Shards to copy Yolish lightweaving (if we assume that the original Shardholders all came from Yolen).
  22. I never heard of them before, looking them up on Goodreads now... Nothing on Goodreads. I did a search on the wikipedia page for Qeteb, and went through it. I'll admit it was less a theory and more a fan rant, but... holy crap, I'm guilty of unknowing plagiarism. The books seem interesting, though... I'll order them off e-bay.
  23. Call my a cynic - please, its my only sense of identity - but I'm finding it hard to believe that he can keep fresh, innovative ideas coming with each book. Of course, I've said that before every book release, so he will probably still surprise me by perfectly mixing fantasy and sci-fi. Warning: I am about to engage in baseless theories completely lacking in evidence Plot twist: Brandon said the Cosmere was separate from earth, but not from the universe. And so I conclude its just set in a different galaxy. But then, how would there be humans in the Cosmere? My conclusion is that Adonalsium was a ship sent to explore distant galaxies, to go boldly were no man has ever gone - sorry, back on topic. Imagine if Adonalsium got stranded in a distant galaxy? Within a few generations, the crew would completely forget about Earth, and instead find another habitable planet brimming with Investiture. Given a few thousand years, Yolen would be populated and Adonalsium, with its technology and flight capabilities, would be revered as a deity. The Shattering of Adonalsium is when the engine explodes, destroying the planet below, but the Yolish Investiture is drawn to the sixteen fuel cells (worshiped by the colonists' descendants as the different aspects of Adonalsium, such as Preservation, Honor, etc, giving them personality in the Cognitive Realm), and the sixteen Priests of Adonalsium holding them, fusing them together (blame nuclear radiation from the Shattering to initiate the process). The Investiture applied to the innate electricity in the fuel cells turns them to deities, but the Cognitive aspect means the fuel cells start to change their holders. The sci-fi trilogy could involve a Scadrial that just accessed the upper atmosphere (same technology state as the present) running into a technologically superior human empire from Earth, intent on collecting this new power source (Investiture) to assimilate into their empire. As far as the humans are concerned, they're saving shipwrecked people and bettering their empire. As far as the Scadrialites are concerned, invaders have come to abduct them and forcibly cart them off to a distant planet. Of course, the Cosmere is likely in a completely separate universe to Earth, making all that rambling pointless... But I can hope. And write fan fiction.
  24. You dislike Mistborn? HERETIC! Okay, seriously now, I think I can understand what you mean, but the trilogy is worth it if you can look past that.
