Haha, yeah this was made a few months ago, back before I got back into 17S, so it's pretty tumblr-centric. However, I figured people here might want to see too, so I ended up reposting it here for all to see. Perhaps I'll make a 17th Shard Fandomstuck someday...

There's a trend going on on tumblr these past few months, personifying a fandom and presenting them as though they were a character. It's called Fandomstuck, because the art and text style is based on Homestuck's character introductions, but it's spread so far beyond Homestuck now! Well, there was a hit on the Cosmere Request Meme for a character for the Cosmere, and I'd done some sprite edits in the past, so I decided to give it a whirl: Your name is the COSMERE FANDOM and while you may not be the biggest fandom around you are STILL THE BEST FANDOM. Your interests include THEORIZING, SHIP SPARRING, and CRYING OVER JUST ABOUT EVERYONE. You’ve weathered some pretty heavy feels over the years. The end of HERO OF AGES nearly took you down and JUST TIEN IN GENERAL is a good way to reduce you to a puddle of tears. Thankfully you’ve always got LIGHTSONG to make you laugh and FORGERY or AON DOR if you need a REALMATIC puzzle to work through. Not to mention, what’s up with SURGEBINDING? You swear you’ve almost got it figured out… You don’t make as much noise as some of the other fandoms around, but boy do you know how to have a good time on FRIDAY NIGHTS (and occasionally the OTHER DAYS of the week too…) You like talking about NON-COSMERE things too, like WORD WARS, and WORLDBUILDING, and BOILING WATER. You know, the important stuff. You’ve got the best ships though. RAODEN AND SARENE are just so perfect together and VIN AND ELEND could take down the whole universe if they wanted to. SIRI ANS SUSEBRON are cuter than any couple has a right to be and DALINAR AND NAVANI send you into fits of squeeing every time. Poor RENARIN, you just can’t decide who he should be smooching. KALADIN maybe? Or should he be with SYL? Maybe RENARIN and SHALLAN would be cute? But then who’s going to be with JASNAH? And why are you thinking about HOID as a possibility? One thing’s for sure, WORDS OF RADIANCE can’t come out soon enough. Or SHADOWS OF SELF. Or NIGHTBLOOD. You just really need them all RIGHT NOW! What will you do? She’s got something from every known shardworld right now - an aon from Sel, a mistcloak from Scadrial, the royal locks from Nalthis, and a safehand-covered dress (in Kholin blue!) from Roshar! I realize most of these references are more specific to the Tumblr fandom, but that was pretty much my target audience there. (For instance, I'm pretty sure most people around her don't remember the infamous boiling water chat... That was a wierd night). I kind of picture the 17S part of the fandom as like, her older, more serious brother, who talks about theories and the Realmatic applications of things while his younger sister is off making art and fanfic and such. Sometimes the two of them get together and do some pretty awesome stuff though. And deep down, they both love each other. Aww.

I count "Ability to find a relevant Cosmere quote for most situations" among my greatest skills. Put it on the job apps, right? (You don't even want to know how many literary essays I turn in to my professors that have Branderson quotes in them...

@Will: This is what happens when you start shipping Shallarin. I am contractually obligated to upvote every post in support of Shallarin. I cannot resist.

I totally get it, Kurk. I used to not be a theorizer at all, magic or characters or anything. I'd just take whatever came and be happy with it. Because when you start having expectations, you're gonna be disappointed when they don't come out like you thought. I think I'm still that way, a bit though. I mean, if Shallarin doesn't become canon, I don't think I'd be any more upset than if Shalash turns out not to be Baxil's Mistress. It's just sort of another theory. And especially in the case of ships where the characters have not actually interacted with one another - which is the camp that both Shallarin and Kalarin find themselves in right now, the fun is all in finding the potentials. (Even Fruity's very strange Wit/Kaladin and Wit/Renarin ships have more canon interaction than Shallarin or Kalarin. *sobs*) Aaah, and Harmony, Will linked to my post. Thanks for that! In the interest of fairness, I'll link to the major posts from the Kalarin camp as well, so you guys can see what I'm up against. Kogi's first response, her second, and Emma's first. (They're the group that did the recording from the signing in Beaverton BTW. All definitely cool peeps.) Whoops, this post about Nightblood and Pokemon has certainly turned into a discussion about the Great Cosmere Shipping War, hasn't it. Oops. (Sorry not sorry) EDIT: I should just go start a storming thread in the Cosmere theories board, shouldn't I?

Dalinavani is pretty amazing, though I've heard people trying to expand it into an OT3... Dalianr/Navani/Eshonai. I believe the current name for that little ship is "The Three-Way of Kings." Which amuses me to no end, though I don't ship it. Waynette might run into some canon orientation issues, but not that that's ever stopped anyone from shipping anything ever.

Hey, quite a bit of it isn't romance discussion. It's like "let's break down the real motivations and possibilities for character development and growth with textual back-up" which we're all pretty much agreeing on. And then differing theories on how those problems and issues are going to be solved in the future. Kalarin shippers think that Kaladin and Renarin's character growth arcs (struggling with the images of Vorin masculinity and concepts of brotherhood) would work better together, I think that Shallan's and Renarin's (subverting restricting gender roles and self-confidence growth) would. It is theorizing! Just... with character development and relationships rather than the magic systems! Which is really cool.

I literally just did a celebratory dance at my computer. WELCOME ABOARD THE S.S. SHALLARIN! Good to know I'm convincing someone. I'm getting attacked by these Kalarin shippers on all sides! Gotta keep up! But no lie, this whole "Great Cosmere Shipping War" thing is really coming up with some beautiful meta for our little fandom. While I don't agree with all the shipping arguments, Kogiopsis' and Lunarubato's analyses of these characters are really showing dedication and contextual awareness, which... you know is not something you get from many fandoms outside of tumblr. I almost feel like I should find some way to mirror all our different essays and mini-essays over here, but I haven't because I can't figure out a good way to display it over here. 17S is more about theories than literary and character analysis... I don't even know if anyone else would be interested.

Buy. I bet it's something cool. (Also, I find it funny that Hero of Ages is a higher rank than Shard. Feeling rather unimportant for all my shardliness. >:c) Let's try a theory shall we? Stormlight spoilers:

Haha, not all shouting is rage, Kurk! Cosmere stuff just warrants capslock sometimes! And fear not the tumblr... It is a wonderful place filled with art and ships and currently, well, multiple thesis papers being written about the character development and motivations of quite a few of the Stormlight characters. Namely, Shallan, Renarin, and Kaladin. There is so much literary analysis going on in the cosmere fandom right now. I can't quite handle or respond to it all. But it's awesome.

I'll buy, though I feel silly for not knowing what exactly the "WnW" initialism is standing for... We will know all Radiant powers and orders by the end of Book 3.

Oh, it's not rage. It was crazy fangirl excitement. I suppose the tumblr-speak kinda comes across strangely to those who are not accustomed to... everything being talked about like that. I think it's the coolest thing ever. I refuse to stop seeing Cosmere references - intentional or not - everywhere. I really didn't care about Pokemon before, but now I kinda want it for Honedge alone... *doesn't have the requisite gaming system though, so it's pretty much a moot point.*

Pokémon X/Y info under the cut. Not spoilers, but I know people are sensitive to that kind of stuff. Okay, I knew Honedge was Nightblood-esque, BUT THIS IS GETTING A LITTLE RIDICULOUS.

I'm pretty cheap, so the only ones I've followed are Keiron Gillen's run of Journey into Mystery and then I followed him over to Young Avengers where he's working now. Came for Kid Loki, stayed for the rest of the team! It's a really excellent little story going on!

Yeah, I was narcissistically trying to figure out if I was still on the leaderboards even after my extended absence and wondered how a single post could have 28 downvotes over on the other side. The admins got it taken care of though now. Thank goodness. Now... to see about moving up the list... Must continue to do awesome things to get upvotes...

Harmony... Trying to spot a colorfully dressed person in Hallandren? It's a Terrisperson's blending-in paradise! Hopefully there's some note to jewelry or something to help point it out.

Shardblades are MUCH lighter than regular swords of their size. While Dalinar does say earlier that a six-foot long blade might be unwieldy outside of Plate, but the length is the issue, not the weight.

Hehe, you deserve all the exclamation marks I can give! And I think I'm going to talk to Botanica as well. She's always been so wonderful and I think she'd be on board with helping us out. (Though with all she does for the Chinese Cosmere fandom, she may not have time to do much.) I think I may put out a call for artists on Adonalsium, though we'll see what kind of response we get there.

So glad to have you over here! One by one, I will drag our tumblr friends over here. We'll get the admins throwihg #CFSBF around in no time! You're so awesome! Edit: Also, whatever Argent said about Shallan is pretty much how I feel about your drawings of Renarin too. This one of him cleaning his glasses? Oh no, Renarin feels everywhere.
