  1. *powerslides into this thread in her socks* yyyyeeeeeeaaaaaAAAAAHHHH! CALLED IT! Oh and I would like to know if you had plans for that arm, Kurk.... You've been keeping tabs on it for a year only to lament losing your chance to claim it? What do you want with my arm, creeper!?
  2. See with the immortals, age gets kinda wierd. I tend to evaluate them based on how old they act rather than how old they actually are. So, like, I'd put Rashek as one of the oldest, because he just has this crazy "other" feel to his character. Vasher's probably the next old; as I'd put him at around his late forties or early fifties maybe. TenSoon's probably a bit "younger" than that, fully an adult but not quite as old-feeling. Then maybe Denth, who I'd put at late twenties, early thirties. Then Susebron, who because of how he was raised, I'd hesitate to put as older than twenty.
  3. My faves are probably the Infinity Blade novellas, because they've got the best high-fantasy feel (though the Infinity Blade universe is actually sci-fi that presents itself like fantasy.) Unfortunately, the novellas fit into the storyline with the games, so if you haven't/can't play the Infinity Blade games, it's hard to get into them quite as well. I did end up making a quick guide to the games' stories for people who want to read the novellas and get the whole narrative. That's here on this forum. I absolutely adore Infinity Blade, both as a game and as a story, so I'd love to see more people getting into them and reading them. The novellas are short, if games are your thing then the games are fantastic, and it's just a good time all around. I will say that I think the second novella, Redemption, is even better than the first one, Awakening. They really are amazing.
  4. And I'm the opposite, Joe. To me, a bookshelf is a both a functional piece of furniture. I love the way books in a series look on a shelf together, and I like pulling them off to flip through them and smell them and such. One of the things I knew I wanted in my dorm room was a bookshelf, because the room wouldn't feel complete without it. I read the Infinity Blade novellas as ebooks though. While the convenience of downloading them was nice and the ability to loan them to silly friends around the world is nice, I do prefer reading the physical copy.
  5. Even with books in the Stormlight Archive, I'm assuming we're going to see more than just The Shattered Plains and Kharbranth, so the "Settings" sections are going to be very different for each book. For individual books, the "Magic" section, I concur that it should focus on developments and reveals in the magic system that take place in that book.
  6. Close but not quite: Step Three: Report findings on Coppermind Step Four: Be kidnapped and sacrificed to the admins in their dark hemalurgic rituals as "thanks" for your efforts.
  7. I just put this on Adonalsium, Windy, so I think it's confirmed. It looks like the Wax and Wayne books are going to be a trilogy (at least). http://www.tor.com/blogs/2013/10/tor-acquires-two-more-mistborn-novels-from-brandon-sanderson
  8. I'm going to refrain from opening that because I haven't quite finished yet. That is the thing I don't like about audiobooks, they take so long to listen to! I like having something to do while driving, but I've been trying to get through it for a few months and I just don't have time. I'm about 3/4ths of the way through, but I've been listening since August! Edit: Also, I never know how to spell the characters' names. That's annoying.
  9. I've only recently listened to my first audiobook: Deadhouse Gates by Steven Erikson. I prefer to be my own audiobook and read the books aloud to others! As for the kinds of copies that I prefer, you need an option for "physical and e-copies"! The actual physical books are so pretty and I love actually having them in my hand as I read, but for research, literary analysis, and work for the Coppermind, the ability to do a search through the book is invaluable! I also like having Brandon's books in other languages whenever I can get my hands on them. I recently (thanks to a wonderful fandom member who was kind enough to buy them) acquired the Fils-des-brumes series in its entirety (Mistborn in French). I'm trying to get my friend to grab a copy of the Japanese Mistborn books while she's stationed in Okinawa, and I'd love to get my hands on a copy of The Way of Kings in Chinese, because it's such a pretty printing!
  10. I as well, Shardlet. I took Ati's red hair to be a sort of hint that he wasn't a Scadrial native. A cosmere clue, so to speak.
  11. Hey, you got an upvote for it, silly! Don't get pushy. *raps your knuckles*
  12. SPOILER WARNING FOR JUST ABOUT ALL THE COSMERE BOOKS (tags would be too difficult with the quotes and all) That was probably a rhetorical question, but I'm gonna be that person and go ahead and answer it. As an academic exercise, of course. Certainly not for the benefit of any of my fellow androphillic fans... So, let's see... there's Kaladin, who's gets a bit of a striptease when he first gets to the Shattered Plains. After that he ends up tearing up his shirt to make pads for his feet and shoulders on his first bridge run, so he's probably shirtless for most of that too. Elend's certainly shirtless in the scene after he and Vin's tent-based honeymoon suite in The Well of Ascension. The chapter mentions Vin sleeping on his chest, the fact that she's topless when she sits up, "exposing a bare torso." He remarks that either of them being dressed would "make things a little awkward" and then later talks about looking "over at his clothing" and getting dressed. So yeah. Shirtless Elend. Sazed's also got a full nudity scene when he gets captured by the Inquisitors and thrown into a cell with Vin back in The Final Empire. But that's more of a vulnerable kind of nudity, rather than an attractive shirtless scene. Still, bears mention for the sake of comprehensiveness. Over in Warbreaker, Susebron's probably shirtless, if not more, for quite a bit of his and Siri's scenes together. Not to mention, when she first arrives, Siri sees some of the shirtless male Returned walking about. There's the aftermath of Wax's fight with Miles in The Alloy of Law, where we get a couple of good gems: Hmm... and it's been too long since I read Elantris to remember if there's any shirtless scenes in that one. Also, I don't have a copy on hand. Any takers? Anyway, as the astute reader can see, there's plenty of shirtless scenes around the Cosmere if that suits your fancy. Now, if you're a girl like me though... see, I tend to go for men in uniforms and well cut suits. I would like to now take a moment to thank Tindwyl and Dalinar for making sure that my two main guy crushes (Elend and Renarin) are in uniform at pretty much all times. And now that Kaladin's a captain in Dalinar's army, he's gonna get a uniform too. The Almighty smiles on us all it seems...
  13. Can't imagine what might have sparked this line of inquiry... Certainly not an update to the WoA page... (/self promotion) Yeah, I think that lineup looks good, but we should probably add a section about the Setting/World.
  14. Lightflame, did you know you're the only user on the forums with a rep/post ratio greater than 1 besides Brandon? That's really not fair, because I used to pride myself on my rep/post ratio. Now I've got to find a way to spike away your rep-gaining abilities.
  15. Adolin has plenty of girls chasing his heels, and I've never been one to go after the so-called "ladies' man." I'll leave Adolin to his serial courtships and spend my time with the other brother. As for villians, well. I don't have a problem thinking about dating the villians, but they've got to be charming and attractive to me. Denth fits the bill, because he's clever, funny, and I tend to picture him as attractive. Hrathen might be, but I think he acts too old for me. Rashek seems like a bit of an angry jerk before being TLR and a humorless dictator after. Steelheart? Not attractive at all. I actually tend to dislike guys who have tons of muscles like superheroes usually do. It's just kinda... ick.
  16. That's a good point Argent! Dalinar's change of heart and ways has been a pretty recent thing, and it's possible that most other people just think he was "growing weak." In which case, grabbing the title of Highprince of War and starting to unite the armies might look like he's returning to his old ways, even though we as the reader know differently.
  17. (Haha, yeah I don't think it's a deliberate shout-out. Just a very fun coincidence!)
  18. Hehe. I think one of my favorite things is that "Elend shirtless with a book" seems to be a trend in Kit's drawings of him. I figured I should get the one with the shirt for the wiki, though.
  19. In continuing with my search for excellent artists to provide character portraits, I'd like to introduce two newcomers! Botanica Xu and Kit of AnemoneInk have both graciously agreed to allow us to use their work on the Coppermind! They are both wonderful people and you should definitely show them some love! Kit's work is now featured on the Elend page. Botanica's work is now featured on the pages for Rysn, Hoid, Raoden, and Sarene And to cite my sources for the permission, I asked each of them if it were okay to use their art on the Coppermind. Their responses were as follows: BotanicaXu AnemoneInk Sometimes all it takes is asking! We're thrilled to have them come on board with us!
  20. I'll buy that one... seeing as I already wrote my take on it. Shallan will summon her Shardblade sometime during WoR.
  21. Matt on tumblr is running a team that has both a Honedge named Nightblood and... some kind of fairy type named Sylphrena. http://elementnumber46.tumblr.com/post/64846348480/beat-the-coumarine-city-gym-thats-a-good-place
  22. Wait... I've got that one! I have developed the very unique skill of being able to find/quote anything to do with Renarin near instantly. Addiction is a powerful thing...
  23. Just chiming in that I can assure you with absolute certainty that there is no mention of Renarin courting anyone at all. (I tend to be a bit hyperaware of things like that and I think I would remember something such as that...)
  24. I should look into the Lift chapter again, but didn't they say that he got to the successor very quickly after they were appointed? Or perhaps he simply knew which day they were going to choose a new ruler ahead of time.
  25. @Pinpoint: Just a note, double (and triple) posting is discouraged on the forums. In the future, when responding to multiple people, you should put all your responses in one post, rather than multiple. http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6-welcome-to-17th-shard/?p=12693
