  1. Sounds perfect!
  2. *bestows this topic with her presence and blessing* Excellent work here, Captain. Carry on.
  3. No no, the fanfic is Sapphire Broams! (Well, the first chapter is anyway...) While I accept the loyalty of a few favored pawns, and reward my dedicated Featherblades and Feathertips, I must inflict my terrible malice upon the majority of the fandom. It is only through the tears of cosmere fans that I find relief from my own sadness. Only in the agonized cries of fellow readers that I find joy. You all thought all I learned the frivolous ways of shipping during my time abroad on tumblr, didn't you? No. I learned the ways of feels. Oh, my dear protegée, Fruity, thought she could have the most tragic cosmere URL when she chose to change to leftingimborn, but I quickly showed her that she was entirely incorrect in that. I have learned the dark arts of inducing empathy only for later exploitation. I will teach you to feel bad for minor characters and love them, only that I may reap the harvest of anguish with sad headcanons and fic. Any who dare cross me will be met with songs with sad lyrics and a character with which to imagine them while they play. (For example, think of Shallan in the hospital after Jasnah finds out she stole the soulcaster, thinking she's lost everything, while listening to this) I am the Fandom Monster of the cosmere. And I will have what is due to me. *sinister echoing laughter*
  4. Shardlet and I were really close in Rep for a while and I was trying to pass him for a while, but he's managed to keep ahead of me. I actually remember thinking "Dang I haven't passed Shardlet yet, I'm not moving up at all!" And then I looked at the rep boards and saw that in my time chasing him since returning to the forums I've jumped from #17 to #9...
  5. I'd be fine with going deeper, but I've hit my negative rep limit for the day dang it.
  6. (OoG: Psst, Aether. Windy's still Windrunner. Ookla the Serendipitious is "Serendipity." Windy hasn't been in here for a bit. Also, you can recognize Windy by his INDECENTLY HUGE amount of rep. *grumbles in jealousy*)
  7. Yes, I couldn't see which one came first. I can't actually access DevArt while I'm on campus. It's blocked by my school's webfilters, so I just copied and pasted the blocked links to the source and hoped I was matching them correctly! I don't think it's an actual symbol from the books, but it does seem slightly Lerasi-esque.
  8. (And that is two different artists, btw. Though I'm sure they were aware of each other's designs when making those!)
  9. What is this heresy? Zucchini is delicious! *goes off to grumble at the admins about this*
  10. *ruffles Joe's hair* (haha, payback!) You're too busy being the nicest swarm of cuddlebots ever and coming up with mischievous schemes of aggressive kindness to bother yourself with something like post count dots.
  11. Such insidious insubordination on my forums? You will curse the day you ever thought to show your vile face on the domain of the cosmere fandom monster! I will rally my legions of loyal Feathertips to destroy you utterly!
  12. Hmm, interesting, I'd never noticed this before!
  13. (spoiler tagged because somewhat off-topic)
  14. Actually, a few members of the Cosmere fandom on tumblr talked about if MLP was a shardworld. I beleive we decided that "Amity" sounded like a properly shard-ish name for that world.
  15. Oh snap, I totally forgot that I have an honor guard now. Excellent. A policing force for my new domain that can be paid in fanfic!
  16. I'll sell that one actually. I get the feeling Tarah's dead. Part of Kaladin's whole "I survive when no one else does, I get everyone around me killed." Besides, I think the Kaladin/Amaram reunion will be conflicted enough without throwing in another heated old relationship. Kaladin will find out Amaram's going to be around before Amaram finds out that Kaladin's around.
  17. *completely evil "benevolent" laughter* I don't see what's so upsetting, really. The choice is easy enough. You can comply with Kurk and I's thoroughly reasonable demands or you can suffer the deepest of eternal excruciations that our combined dark powers can concoct. Honestly, you could thank us for simplifying your life in this way. Freedom is life's great lie, and we're here to alleviate the burden of free will.
  18. Perhaps it could be read that way, but I definitely see this as Wit making something outrageous up to embarrass Renarin into speaking. Wit: "Then I can say whatever I wish, and he’ll not object?" (Ehehehe, I'm going to make up the most outlandish, non-Renarin story right here on the spot!) Renarin: *hesitates* (Wait... that's not what I meant to... oh no what's he going to...) Wit: "Have I told you about the night Prince Renarin and I had two days back, walking the streets of the warcamp? We came across these two sisters, you see, blue eyed and—" (I'm just gonna start telling Adolin this little tale and we'll see how long it takes young Renarin to speak up. That boy's far too quiet for his own good. Ah... there he starts blushing, here we go....) Renarin: "That's a lie!" (Ack, Wit is telling Adolin things about me that never happened! This isn't what I wanted at all! I need to stop him!) Wit: Very well, I'll confess there were actually three sisters, but Prince Renarin quite unfairly ended up with two of them, and I didn't want to diminish my reputation by—" (There we go, Renarin, but you're gonna have to say more than that to stop me! Ehehehe! Oh no, Dalinar's coming over and he's going to quiet me. I suppose I will have to continue this little exercise later...) Now that I look at it actually, I really like the way Wit deals with Renarin throughout the book. There's an immense kindness to the way he treats Renarin, and when he "teases" Renarin, it always seems to be in an effort to make Renarin stand up for himself or to give him an opportunity to be clever. Dalinar goes really protective, thinking Wit's picking on Renarin and Wit says: "Those who ‘deserve’ my mockery are those who can benefit from it, Brightlord Dalinar. That one is less fragile than you think him." Even this situation, while Wit's trying to push Renarin's buttons and embarrass him into speaking up, the story that he chooses to tell is one that's... really flattering to Renarin. Renarin sweeping a couple of ladies off their feet and winning them away from even a quick-tongued charmer like Wit? That's something most people would not have any problem with someone telling about. (Of course, my dear sweet hyper-shy Renarin is embarrassed by this story and starts blushing, because he's Renarin. Not to mention he knows Wit and the kinds of stories that Wit likes to tell when he gets carried away, and chances were this story was about to go bawdy had someone not stepped in to stop him.)
  19. Fun fact: back before Way of Kings published, Tor released sample chapters on their website as part of the lead-up. One was the first Kaladin chapter, and I remember thinking while reading it: "Wait a second, an unexplainably lucky spearman who is loved by his men and is highly protective of them? Oh no, Brandon, you did not just write a Matrim Cauthon clone, did you?" But no, despite their surface similarities, Mat and Kaladin are very different characters, haha.
  20. I am definitely in the camp "Kaladin will get a Shardspear" with you, Aether. I like to think that Syl's problem with Shardblades is that the people who have them didn't "earn" them so to speak? So if Kaladin goes through all the KR protocol and says all the Ideals and such, he'd then be worthy of wielding a shard weapon.
  21. Hahaha, he's definitely joking around to mess with Renarin. But it's hilarious. Here's the whole context of that quote: I think Hoid and Renarin's interactions are actually some of my favorite parts of the book. The "Nothing Ridiculous" exchange is also one of my fave moments between them.
  22. Also buy. A new character in SA will talk to Hoid while he's out of his "Wit" persona. (So, I'd say Kaladin and... maybe Dalinar are probably excluded from this.)
  23. Yeah, you're gonna have to try harder than "Renarin dies" to get a real response out of me. I'm the fandom monster, FoR. Emotional trauma and tragic headcanons are my bread and butter. In the great words of Inara: "You don't play a player." Also, I find very little chance that Renarin's going to die anytime soon, considering the growth arc being set up for him. Fridging him for manpain would be sloppy, and an unnecessary rehash of the same situation that we had with Kaladin and Tien. And Brandon's anything but sloppy. In regards to the Kaladin getting a shardblade topic, I'm going to say probably not, for a lot of reasons. Foremost among them would be that he hates lighteyes, doesn't want to be one, and also Syl hates shardblades. The only way I see Kaladin taking a shardblade is under duress and in a moment of panic, IE: "I have to take this because if not it will be like Amaram all over again and I can't go through that again." ...which is actually a situation I'm very interested in. Kaladin taking a shardblade as a panicked moment of sacrifice to protect those he cares about? Now there's an interesting scene that twists about the idea that obtaining a shardblade is the most desirable situation there is.
  24. Hmm... I am a fan of contracts which specify eternal and unrelenting torture as one of the terms. As Fandom Monster, I am always looking for new methods of extracting agony from fellow Cosmere fans upon which I have learned to subsist. I will consider your application should you prove capable of securing this binding seal. As payment for your services, you will receive one (1) exemption from my torturous and malevolent machinations. The Plaintiff (the aforementioned "FeatherWriter") hereby agrees to drop the matter on the terms of a net equal end between parties, in that no exchange of goods, services, or severed limbs will take place. The Plaintiff will keep her arm and rescinds demands of compensation for her thoroughly impressive victory and correct theorization. She wishes it to be known that this is an act of extreme kindness and mercy and is likely to never be repeated and urges KURKISTAN, Ltd. (hereafter refered to as "The Company") to treasure this gesture of unparalleled graciousness. The Plaintiff further inquires into the possibility of enlisting the legal services of The Company in the endeavor of re-launching Adonalsium Endowment Enterprises on the basis that working together The Company and The Plaintiff could totally hoodwink all these suckers out of all their Breath provide a valuable investment opportunity for interested members of the cosmere fandom.
  25. Hmm... yes they were... Does that mean my arm was never up for grabs in the first place? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
