    I don't know... you don't get to claim a bet unless you take it in the first place. In this case, I'm the crafty one! For everyone else, All these people keep saying "I'll do such-and-such thing if X theory isn't true" which Kurk could call them on without any repercussions should the conditions be met. That's just a simple promise. But I said I was making a bet. "I'd bet my right arm." Which means, if Kurk was planning to claim it from me, he must have inadvertantly matched the stakes in doing so. Only those who match the stakes are eligible to receive the payout in a bet! And as this thread has shown, I was the victor! HIS ARM IS MINE NOW.

    Seeing as my personal tumblr username is "alwaysanothersecret" and my blog's name is "Giving You Questions to Think Upon" those two are pretty big favorites of mine. I definitely quote "Every man is the hero of his own story" all the time from Warbreaker as well. There are some other favorites of mine that haven't been mentioned here. I am inordinately fond of Shallan's quote about expectations. The full explanation of what "journey before destination" means is also very important to me, in that it's basically an outright refutation of the philosophy of "the end justifies the means": On a more lighthearted note, pretty much everything that Lightsong says also Denth on numerous occasions. (But I confess I do not have Warbreaker handy nor do I remember any specific quotes well enough to find them.) I will also never forget that one time that Hoid implies that Renarin had a threesome:

    Right, I'm guessing that we'll probably get a few cosmere-y things in the books to come, but not on a level above what we've seen in tWoK. So, we've got like... Demoux and Galladon showing up in an interlude, Aona and Skai being mentioned in the letter, and some realmatic tidbits here and there, but nothing that overshadows the much more Roshar-specific central plot.

    Eugh, sell. Viewpoint suicides are not something I want to be reading about. I like my stories to be about characters overcoming their problems and growing as people into stronger and better characters. Suicide is not a "solution" I want to see any character come to, viewpoint or not. The only suicidal situation I would want to see is one like Kaladin's, where he comes to the point of suicide out of despair but comes back from it and realizes life is still worth living. Those are the kinds of stories I want to read. (And I have a feeling that those are the kinds of stories that Brandon likes to write.) And, yeah, while Kell's death could technically be interpreted as "suicide," the motivations behind it were definitely more of a "heroic self-sacrifice" and "martyrdom for the cause" rather than giving up on life and succumbing to despair. So you're right in that Kell doesn't really count. Buy or Sell: Danlan Morakotha will have a much larger role to play than we have seen thus far. (A girl can hope for some more important female characters, can't she?)

    Hey wait a second. The fact that this post got dredged up again made me realize something: I won the bet. I bet my arm and I won. And Kurk was apparently planning to cash it in were I wrong, which implies that he took my bet. Does this mean... I have won Kurk's arm???? KURKISTAN. I DEMAND YOU PAY ME THE ARM I HAVE RIGHTFULLY WON IMMEDIATELY.

    Yeah, it might be best to let it die. Pretty sure the wording was Brandon's way of saying that Renarin's got his own personal spren, like Kaladin and Syl, that only he sees.

    [OoG] I knew about Axies showing up in the Rysn interlude, however... that's not an "out-of-interlude" appearance. Therefore, the question still stands. [/OoG] I'll buy, though mostly out of more wishful hoping than anything else. We will someday know the author of the Ars Arcanum.

    I already squeed over the tumblr post of that Kaladin, but DANG. He may be starting to give Renarin a run for his money... Best thing Dalinar ever did: Insisting everyone wear uniforms all the time. Thank you, Dalinar. That Shardplate is looking awesome! Great job with that! I can't wait to see what you come up with for a more final design!

    Aaaaaaaah?! That would be so incredible! Botanica you are the most amazing person ever! That's super exciting! Oh, and for the rest of you guys, it's only tangentally related, and it's not Cosmere, but I do kind of have another story-ish thing. Me and some other members of the tumblr Cosmere fandom are in the middle of a Fate Core RP campaign set in the Pacific Rim universe. We play a group of black market criminals called the "Sydney Scroungers" set in Sydney Australia before the events of the film, so there's no spoilers or anything. My character is a wanted AI programmer named Sylvie Mansen, who got kicked out of the Pan Pacific Defense Corps after almost killing herself trying to sneak in and pilot a Jaeger after-hours. So... she's now on the run from the law and trying to make a living in the underworld. I'm keeping track of what's going on in our sessions and adapting them out into fics. I'm a little behind, (I've only done four sessions, and we just finished session eight tonight) but they've gotten really good recently and I'm going to try to get those out so you guys can be excited with me! Honestly, I'm on the edge of my seat to see what happens next and typing these up is the closest I can get until we have another session! I can't take credit for all the writing or story, but honestly, they're really amazing and I'm thrilled to be in a group of such wonderful writers. You can find them here: The Sydney Scroungers

    Botanica, if you draw me more fanart I will probably faint from the sheer amazingness. This thread may be the Featherwriter fan club, but I am definitely the captain of the Botanica fanclub! Oh, do you mind if I use the Shallarin picture that you drew me a little while ago as a sort of cover for the story?

    Just a warning, I have to put this fic on pause while I work on my Secret Santa fic, so this may be the last Shallarin for a little while. (Hopefully not for too long though! I have plans for these two... plans....) I will post the Secret Santa fic here once the reveal has happened (because I don't want to give away to my person that I'm the one that filled their prompt, of course! Heads up, it will be Mistborn themed!

    An alternate title would be: "In Which Feather Considers Giving Shallan And Renarin A First Kiss But Wusses Out And Goes For Hand-Holding Instead Because She Is Embarrassed To Write Romance-y Things." Why am I writing shipping fic again? I am such a dork when it comes to writing these two. These fictional characters had better appreciate the embarrassment that I go through for them...

    I like the theory that the storms are of Cultivation quite a bit, but crem seems to be a more destructive aspect. Like was said, it builds up on things and tears things down. It has to be chipped off of structures if they are going to stay up. Also, while highstorm water is more nutritious for plants, I'm not certain that this is due to the influence of crem. Highstorm water is not potable either until the crem has settled to the bottom. Overall, I still think crem may just be a side effect of the extreme power of these storms, and not something magically influenced. It is extreme erosion and displacement of minerals that happens due to the power of the storms (which may themselves be magically charged).

    (Guilty confession: I don't really read fanfics either, bartbug.) I love writing them, just... not reading them so much? There's so much badfic (and smutfic, yuck) out there, that I just tend to avoid it. Not to mention if I get free time, I want to be writing rather than reading anyway. One of the things I do try to do with my fics though is to make them feel like they might be canon. When I come up with an idea, I want to figure out how I could write it so that it /could/ be canon if nothing ever contradicted it. (Part of why I abandoned the Parshendi!Renarin fic, there was just no way I could justify it, and I have trouble writing without that justification.) I figure there's plenty of people out there who read fic but don't write it, that someone who does the opposite is maybe not so strange... That said, I don't write smut. Ever. It squicks me out and I just... no. Like, I was blushing all through writing the fourth chapter of A Strange Mix of Both and that wasn't even that embarrassing... I tried writing one kiss scene once and it was really wierd and awkward, (but maybe because it was Vanaline and Len, my OCs, and I definitely don't think the two of them should be together.) So there will be no awkward smutty scenes here. No no no.
