  1. But only a compounding stealrunner. Sazed admits in TFE that it's very hard to store steel, and he only had 2-3 hours worth stored for running at the same speed as a pewter dragger. If he tried to go as fast as Paalm did in SoS, he would have run out very quickly and it would have taken a long time to restore it. It's really only the compounder that is THAT OP, since a regular steelrunner would have to work for weeks, months, or maybe even years to get enough speed stored up to do what was being done. Seems to me that a steel compounder (apart from hemalurgy) is a pretty rare thing that may not even have actually been born yet.
  2. Isn't Pratchett a "higher" reading level than the Alcatraz series?
  3. Could it have been put in place by Harmony? We know that he changed a lot of the makeup of the world, and knows about tech and future tech (e.g. radio). Mabye this was put there to help the tech development along?
  4. That series seemed solid and I purchased the whole 5 book set. Any other recommendations?
  5. My 10 year old has really enjoyed reading the Alcatraz series and is now looking for other similar books. Does anyone here have any recommendations on books or authors that are of a similar level and style? (No one is the equal of Mr. Sanderson, but perhaps someone close?)
  6. Doesn't it seem sort of oxymoronic that someone whose intent is "autonomy" would be controlling other people and forcing them to do things against their will?
  7. If you are like me and consumed it by listening to the audio book, the voice actor even does the reading of it in Sazed's voice... TOTALLY gives it away...
  8. For me, the hardest thing about Elantris was the names...
  9. Wait... This means that it IS possible that Brandon has a ShardPen! This might explain his ability to write without ceasing...
  10. That was my interpretation of the scene as well. Some sort of illusion (Lightweaving or otherwise) and that it was still Wit/Hoid.
  11. Doesn't seem like too much of a conspiracy to me. Didn't we get a WoB that TLR tried all kinds of different instruments over the years?
  12. Alright, if that is the rule, I'll abide by it.
  13. I am apparently a Skybreaker... (Does this mean I might get to wield Nightblood???)
  14. I intentionally looked for a "spoilers" button when I made my post, but we didn't seem to have one...Did I just miss it?
  15. Well, after reading chapter 2 of the new mistborn book,
  16. Bunyip. are you saying that you liked the voices, or disliked them?
  17. This seems very reasonable to me. Burning it all the time could even cause overall muscle atrophy from "lack of use". I wonder if the same thing could happen with your bones? Osteoporosis of the bones since they never need to be "used" in the normal way? This could make a true pewter savant a very odd dichotomy.
  18. But this is the same debate that Kaladin has with his father isn't it? Can you "protect" something by killing? Did preservation go out of its way to "kill" ruin, or did it just want to defeat him? Seems to me that Vin was the one who chose to do the killing, and maybe against the "urging" of preservation
  19. Has anyone considered that what she was doing is just not the normal way to soulcast something? It's not like she "spoke" with the goblet in her room and asked it to become blood... Perhaps any and everything wants to stay the way it is and you generally have to "force" things to change via soulcasting and stormlight.
  20. I sure hope not... I really want to meet her. However, I bet you are right. Why give us information when we could be teased along a little more. Maybe end it with "I have someone I would really like you to meet..."
  21. Why do I have a feeling that Mr. Sanderson will hit us with emotion right off the bat by starting the book with a flashback of Dalinar being romantic and devoted to his wife (Since we know that he will likely have another flash back where we see him lose all memory of her)
  22. I remember a Brandon quote saying something to the effect of "Harmony has more raw power, but Odium is more of a warrior/fighter, so it would be a close fight".
  23. I'm happy to post a photo. This is me (on the left) along with my wife and children
  24. What if he uses a 10 key to put the date in? My 1 is right next to my 0...
  25. Does anyone know why these books are not available on Kindle? I wanted to get the 1st one for my son, but it shows a publish date for Kindle as in February of 2016??? why???
