  1. My apologies, Alv. I am but human, and unfortunately do need to sleep occasionally... Now, typically I start a game with a controversial comment, trying to create discussion. I'm very happy to see that others have already created that discussion, and frankly, am not sure what I can actually say that is controversial at this point... I'm supportive of everyone presenting their positions on issues, even if they then don't vote - at least we can hold them to something. In this spirit, and as I have very limited time before I need to start work, I'm going to agree with El that Jondesu appeared to be setting up a very passive position for himself. Now, whether that actually tells us anything is another question - it would be brave to do so so openly in C1.
  2. Emphasis mine. I can't help but disagree thoroughly with this attitude. People go inactive for a number of reasons - and not normally out of spite. If something happens in real life, it becomes incredibly difficult to catch up with a game - and rejoining becomes almost intimidating as a result. We shouldn't punish people for actions made without malice. We have so much more to gain, both as a village gaining additional insight, and as a community, by doing our very best to make it as easy as possible to rejoin a game.
  3. I'll sign up as Locke - I would create a character, but I've never actually used one, so do what you will.
  4. And yet, equally, we discourage those players who aren't as active as others from getting further involved in our community - I disagree that punitive action will change behaviour in future games. I would suggest that if we dislike inactivity as much as is apparent, we make the effort ourselves to reach out to players who are appearing in thread less frequently - either through talking to them in PMs, giving them updates as to what is going on to enable them to get involved again, or calling them into discussions in the thread to give notifications and involve them. The benefit we derive from lynching inactives over not lynching at all is minimal at best, diverts our attention from the actually dangerous, active eliminators, and is counterproductive if we consider the community as a whole.
  5. As I recall, the leaf up to the game included a fair amount of discussion on lynching inactives, and it appeared a consensus was beginning to emerge among some players. I'd like to challenge that consensus, and argue that lynching inactive is actually a rather counterproductive idea. I would suggest that lynching inactive deprives us of potential future explorations, should they decide to return - and I believe that maintaining village explorations, and so equipping ourselves is absolutely critical should we wish to match the roles of the traitors. I would also argue that we gain very little information by killing an inactive, whilst aiding the traitors in their attempts to achieve a majority over the village. As can be inferred from above, I fully intend to explore tonight - I appear to have got rather lost in this revolutionary nonsense, and would very much appreciate any directions back to the sanity and stability of the Crown.
  6. I feel very guilty about my earlier post, Alv, and wanted to make an apology - I didn't intend to criticise you. I'm a strong proponent of our environment's allowing everyone to play in whatever manner brings them enjoyment, and don't feel my post was in line with this belief - I'm sorry.
  7. The issue here, Alv, is that we can't hold you to account if you don't commit to opinions - it's staying under the radar, which is hardly conducive to building up trust - and indeed doesn't inspire confidence in your desire to help the village.
  8. Lynched? Or killed by nobility? OK, so I appear to have garnered a fair amount of suspicion, which I hope to address, but will be on throughout the day intermittently to respond. The most salient point raised against me that I can see is that I didn't mention Doctor in my post. I did this very deliberately - I had no strong opinion on whether he was guilty or not, and didn't want to throw votes onto a lynch that he wouldn't be back to defend himself from. My vote on Aman was to highlight the inconsistency of his actions, and I stand by my reasoning - if Aman is a villager, by announcing when he'll be inactive he forces fire onto other, more active players. Alternatively, he does intend to be active, and is lying about activity to give a greater degree of protection. Potentially better for the village strategically, but definitely not an action I'm comfortable supporting - and I would hope that this view is shared by most of our players. To reiterate my earlier point, whilst counterproductive as a villager, Aman would stand to gain through the same actions as an eliminator - through appearing a target, arousing sympathy, through potentially drawing protection from lurchers, and dissuading coinshots. Returning to last cycle, though, I hardly think I can be accused of orchestrating his near lynch - I didn't have an opinion on Doctor, so instead of going with my gut I attempted to start another discussion, which both draws valuable information from a number of players - myself included, and also makes my views clear in case I was killed last night. When I placed my vote, I most certainly didn't anticipate others following, or it having a material impact on the lynch of Doctor - I just hoped that it would increase the value of the rest of the cycle, rather than it just becoming a bandwagon.
  9. Firstly, Lopen - I can see no benefit in keeping my vote on you. Secondly, Aman. I absolutely understand that you're busy with personal life, and won't be as active - so want to be clear that I'm not voting for you based on lower activity. However, your assertion that you're going to be killed tonight, and indeed asking for death seems to me to be rather suspicious - it's a good way to get trust with the village - making you seem vulnerable, whilst being rather nonsensical from a general point of view - if you are a villager, it's rather counterproductive - telling eliminators really that they shouldn't bother killing you because they'll hit a more active target elsewhere.
  10. I was going to wait until I'd written a bit of RP before making a post, but am sufficiently worried by the trend already emerging here that I'm going to comment now. It's all very well saying you're going to reserve thoughts until something has happened, but if we don't vote on players, or create conversation, there won't be anything valuable to write thoughts about. These games are short as is - let's not waste too much time this cycle. On which note, Lopen. I've seen you in this thread before - and you're normally an outspoken person - care to get involved in the conversation?
  11. I've settled in to my job, now, and have a fairly predictable schedule, so will return to SE, and sign up as Locke Tekiel - scion of a cadet branch of that most noble family, seeking to improve his fortunes - and apparently in entirely the wrong place...
  12. Hampshire, Surrey, West Sussex, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Dorset, East Sussex, Oxfordshire, Kent, Somerset, Greater London, City of London, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Warwickshire WLIU, name 15 ships that fought at the Battle of Trafalgar
  13. Just a heads up, given we're calling out lurking. I started my new job on Monday, and am still getting acclimatised. I've had a 13 hour day today, and don't have the energy or remaining mental fortitude to do anything now other than say I'll catch up on the cycle tomorrow evening.
  14. Having discussed this with El, I think I'm going to play one last game before disappearing into the aether. I'll sign up as Locke. Forgive me if my activity wanes at any point - I'm going to do my very best to devote time to the game, but depending on my work commitments may be have to vary activity a little.
  15. Although it pains me greatly to have to miss what looks like such an interesting game, I definitely won't have time for a game like this, and so will ask if I might be added to the spec doc?
  16. As far as I knew, Meta stated that he wasn't going to be accepting orders past rollover which has consistently been at 6am, my time. Yesterday I woke up at 6:15, as results were released at 6:30 - after getting them, I then responded to you on facebook. With regards to the out of game PMs, they happened to come through whilst I was on the shard, and I responded to them. As Lopen knows, I was reluctant to commit to protecting him early, as I wished uncertainty as to who would be protected, and so didn't put an order in early, as I hadn't yet made a decision. Unfortunately, I then completely forgot about doing so - with results less than 12 hours away, I was just a little focused on other concerns.
  17. I got my A-level grades yesterday, which means I start my gap-year job on September 12th - I think, at least until I have a better idea of how much time I'll have, that I'm going to have to spectate for the foreseeable future - could I please have a link to the doc, Elb?
  18. Apologies, everyone. I have been far less active than I should have been, and indeed have followed less than I normally do whilst lurking. I'm in the last few days before A-level results, and dealing with the 'Onboarding' process for my gap year job. I've been self protecting as a legionnaire - which I understand is difficult to prove. I need to read through everything again before making a decision on Aman. I will note, though, that when I last PMd him, and asked him to justify his suspicion of me, he dropped it incredibly quickly - to the point where I got a sense that he was trying to manipulate me - which makes me certainly a little suspicious of him.
  19. 1. Australia: Canberra 2. New Zealand: Wellington 3. Papua New Guinea: Port Moresby 4. Fiji: Suva 5. Samoa: Apia 6. Marshall Islands: Majuro WLIU, name the national anthems of 10 countries
  20. Thanks guys - ignoring, Joe, that by lynching me you then lose next turn to Bugsy and Bard?
  21. Bugsy, I'm a fearow, not a metapod or butterfree. @The Only Joe, @Ecthelion III, are you both sure that you want to kill me, rather than Bugsy or Bard? Leaving them alive whilst they still honour an alliance seems a pretty good way to guarantee neither of you can win...
