I liked Lock In. Reminds me I need to re-read it!

Ok that makes sense. I know most of the WoB are transcribed so it is tough sometimes to know if the transcriber puts in punctuation as it was meant or by their own interpretation of where it should be. As two separate sentences it makes sense they are separate statements. Helps a lot though with the new Arcanum when there is audio.

Only threads/post I deliberately stay away from are the shipping threads and then the discussions on a characters morality (mainly looking at Adolin here). Not that there is anything wrong with discussing those topics I just feel like there is no resolution possible concerning those matters and it's an endless debate depending on your own views. I also kinda agree with what @Procrastinationspren said. Although I like a crackpot theory as much as the next sharder when they are based on something that takes a ton of suspension of belief and makes very little sense in the context of the story I usually checkout pretty quick.

@digitalbusker Yep that is for sure a possibility. Vasher does mention it to himself a few more times throughout the book to himself so thats a pretty big thing to forget but it could happen I guess.

Glad you made this post because I just saw a new WoB on this that muddies the water on what Nightblood is made of. Vasher says Nightblood is "awakened steel" in Warbreaker. This was an internal thought (info dump) so he was not telling someone this to try and keep a secret. We know Nightblood's sheath is aluminum We know that Nightblood is not made out of the same metal as his sheath Then the most recent WoB So a couple possibilities 1) Brandon is just throwing out miss-information on something we already knew. 2) Vasher is incorrect possibly Shashara used a different metal without Vasher's knowing.

For years now I have hoped to see a status bar for Nightblood on his site. It is probably futile but I am hoping he will put it before the Elantris sequel. Especially with all the tie-ins to SA we NEED this book!

I thought it was good but not great like WoR. It could have been great if some of the plot lines/character arcs from the two previous books (especially WoR) were explored more. Instead many were dropped abruptly. It felt like too much was going on and getting crammed into this book. On one hand I love how much we learned on the other I felt like a lot of this could have been distributed more over the next two books. Still a "good" book by Sanderson is lightyears above anyone else currently writing in the genre.

[OB] Favourite Stormlight book
StormingTexan replied to StormblessDave's topic in Stormlight Archive
Mine are WoR then OB then tWoK. I just didn't like tWoK the first time I read it but it has grown on me since. -
This book did feel a lot different that the first two. It almost feels a lot more segmented like multiple books combined in to one volume which I guess it is. The overall story combined feels less fluid than the previous ones to me. The pacing seemed almost too fast at times then WAY too slow at others (part 3 mainly for me) instead of a steady burn. I love Brandon's avalanches at the end of books but this one felt there were mini avalanches at the end of multiple parts which seemed to make the beginning and middle of some parts really slow in comparison.

I do not think there is evidence just a theory that it is Autonomy that we see interfering with Scadrial in the Era 2 books. I think its a good possibility and like it over Odium as the culprit. I think the hints dropped in AU by Khriss's notes help as well to the theory it is Autonomy. I like the idea @Calyx proposes that she is trying to hinder their advancement before they become a threat. We know they will eventually become a space traveling race and maybe her goal is to prevent this. Hopefully we will know more about her motivations soon.

(spoilers) Just finished reading Warbreaker and loved it!
StormingTexan replied to Matt O's topic in Warbreaker
Glad you liked it! I feel like it is Brandon's most underrated book. I think most people only read it because of Stormlight. Lightsong is a great character by the end of the book. -
[OB] The Heralds, are the from Sel?
StormingTexan replied to Lord Mistborn Bondbreaker's topic in Stormlight Archive
There is also Kalak and Kalad and the Rosharan curse Kalak's breath. -
That’s actually how I found out about the series! I was looking at books narrated by Kramer and picked this specifically for that reason. I’m in a car a big part of the day and I’ve found I’ll pretty much enjoy listening to anything he narrates. This was a present surprise because I liked the story as well. I have since also read the first book and only listened to the second but plan on reading that one too.

Jebus's Oathbringer First Impressions
StormingTexan commented on Overlord Jebus's article in Columns and Features
Very nice first thoughts. I agree with a lot that you said. I've seen several people try to explain why Szeth was welcomed in and appointed Dalinar's body guard no less and none will convince me that this makes sense in the context of the book. I can see allowing him to fight in the battle they needed all the help they could get but is this redemption for assassinating Gavilar, killing several other world leaders and attempting to kill Dalinar? I'm not saying that this shouldn't have happened there just should have been something onscreen to make it believable in my opinion. I also agree it felt like part 3 really drug on. There were some good parts but it just lasted way too long and then Kholinar ended abruptly. Part 2 was good for me maybe a little long on some of the POV but overall I liked it. I would have gladly sacrificed some of part 2, 3 and even 4 though for a little more after the battle in part 5. Everything seemed ended abruptly after the battle with very little to no discussion between characters after seriously major events, Felt the same way on the Moash chapters and sorry to say Venli as well. I barely cared about Eshoni if I am honest but liked her over Venli. I'm sure Brandon will do something to peak my interest in the next book at least I hope so. One other thing is I did not like the interludes nearly as much as I did the first two books. Probably because it was Venli. I liked the Rysn one and then the creepy one with the Soulcaster but that was it. Overall really liked the book but feel like there were some problems for sure and probably more than the first two books.- 5 comments

First off welcome! Just an FYI I know this does not pertain to the rest of your post but this theory has been disproven by this WoB. I like your theory. There is some more light shed on some of this by the end of OB.

[OB] What’s your favourite part about Roshar?
StormingTexan replied to ICanDream's topic in Stormlight Archive
This is a tough one. Ultimately I went with culture/history because I think we are learning that Roshar seems to largely be a refugee camp of at least a few different Human races. As well as a couple mixtures of native and non-native races. I find this really interesting considering that Roshar is not what I would call the most habitable planet in the Cosmere for Humans. So why did everyone go to Roshar? It may partly be proximity if all came from a planet in the system but I think at Iriali are not from Ashyn. On top of the refugees you have Singers and Aimians. Edit: In my head Aimians are native to Roshar but I remember now they are confirmed to be refugees as well. -
The only thing I remember seeing is him saying Nightblood is "leaky" but I do not believe it leaks from normal objects as we see Vasher and Vivenna store breath in objects a few times.

I have to completely agree with this assessment. I've read a lot of other peoples thoughts and while many are similar it seems like almost everyone came away with a little bit different take on it. I'll check out your thread!

I’m guessing you haven’t read Warbreaker yet?

Finished An Echo of Things to Come last night and my head is still spinning from the ending. I cant stop thinking about it! I'll say I think I liked the first book in the Licanius series a little more but this one was REALY good as well. I feel like the Author improved his writing some on his second book but one thing he still needs to work on is character descriptions. I feel like barely know what anyone looks like. Other than that small gripe I liked pretty much everything else.

Sorry to necro an old thread but seemed silly to start a new one. Who else has read the second book? I finished it last night and my head is still spinning. Trying to wrap my brain around the timeline of the final events in the book. This is really a good series and I’d even call it great considering it’s the first two books the Author has written. I liked the first book a lot and then kind of forgotten about it. I saw the second book was released and re-read the first which is a good thing because the author does not hold your hand reminding you of everything that happens while reading the second book. Really looking forward to the third book!

[OB] Are we sure Elhokar is [redacted]?
StormingTexan replied to Gnmish's topic in Stormlight Archive
Nope directly from Brandon it was all about Kaladin -
It is funny to me that nonplussed means two completely different things (opposites actually) to people and that one word completely changes the way people interpret that scene. For me if has always meant "unconcerned" as Brandon intended.
