  1. I think it was dusk or getting dark when it began. The encounter, not the riot.
  2. Metronome 12 Soulcaster 10 Bone 10 Savannah 9 Brighthead 10 Inhuman 11 Deathskull 11 Moldbreaker 7 Substance 11 Mouldbreaker can pay for threatening Lady Deathskull! And Savannah can pay for being rude to her in the bar that power confuses me, time is an illusion and completely a relative and arbitrary human construct
  3. Good, good. Wonder how he will take that so once the Hypno/Rainmaker interaction is done, we good to move into the next day in Corvallis?
  4. What does OTP stand for? Also i think you guys are being a bit harsh on poor old Frostfire sure he nearly killed an entire clinic because of a perceived insult, but most Epics would have. And yeah he got angry and snippy, but an entire caravan full of people he had promised to protect had just been wiped out. I think I'd be a bit mad at myself if I let that happen, too. But still, it would be interesting (if sad ) if he becomes abusive and Edgerunner gets stuck with another abusive boyfriend. It would make a nice segway into a relationship with Flashpoint and a love triangle.
  5. actually i disagree- he had other Epics with him already on Annexation Day, Nightwielder and Faultline at least. I think he was planning on taking the city that night anyway, but he got sidetracked when Deathpoint attacked the bank. So he showed up to force DP into his service.
  6. Hahaha i like the running joke that Deathskull can never remember anyone's name unless she respects or fears them.
  7. In terms of impact to the story he was actually incredibly important. Moreso than most. No Deathpoint means that David's dad wouldn't have clipped Steelheart when shooting him, and maybe most importantly Steelheart wouldn't have had any reason to kill David's dad. Its highly likely he could have survived. Heck, maybe Steelheart never would have come to the bank if old DP hadn't been making a mess.
  8. unless it can either control water, fly, or both
  9. @Coma: yeah, quite a few of our High Epics are not native to Oregon, and a number have manifested since, making them not a part of the starting ratio. I also think Corpsemaker is native, yeah? I'm running through our high epics to think if they are native. None of mine are. Are any of the Destructors native? also, since i worked off current population, whatever state your epic officially lived in when it manifested is the state it counts as "belonging" to.
  10. *also, in regards to the latest Hellfire post, obviously I do not share, condone, sponsor or excuse his views on race, nationality, colour or indeed anything because he is a slontze
  11. well Obliteration did blow up San Diego after all. But SD has a pop of 1 million, which means about 100 Epics and 1 High Epic (maybe Endless Dreams?) compared with the rest of Cali with a population of nearly 39 million (literally nearly twice the population of Australia XD) So San Diego at least was still together enough for him to bother blowing it up, even if that is only a fraction of the population and Epics in the state. yeah exactly, some states and areas are probably completely deserted. Without modern technology it would be hard to make even a base living out there, despite the lack of Epics.
  12. Exactly. California has probably been throughly destroyed from all the Epics fighting over it. The main cities, at least. Same with Texas, and Florida. Florida especially is quite cramped given its small size.
  13. an interesting thought. I think Anger and Fear would basically run the show, with Joy coming in when the Epic is doing things that they enjoy- perhaps murder, slaughter, torture, killing, fighting, or general abuse of humans
  14. Hellfire awoke the next morning, his left armpit stabbing him with pain whenever he moved. The Destructors had had some medical supplies with them, thankfully, and had sewed his wound shut and put his arm in a rudimentary sling. Also fortunate was the shallowness of the penetration- no major organs were damaged, although he wouldn't be able to use his arm properly for a while. That blasted, cursed water Epic! Hellfire greeted the Destructors, and they sat down to plan their next move. As stated the previous night, they wanted to gather some new commandos before meeting with an "information broker" who could help them with their revenge strike against Astoria. "I don't trust this "broker" guy." Hellfire announced to the group, "I have someone else in mind to help us, in case your broker falls through. I'll be back here in an hour or so." Hellfire smiled, and without another word, he got up, walked onto the balcony, and flew off. Without the ability to use his left arm, his flight was somewhat slower and much less graceful than normal, but it worked. Skirting Astoria by a wide margin, he eventually came back to the spot he was pretty sure he had arrived at, where Valve should be keeping watch for him. Reliable as ever, within a minute a large portal had opened nearby, and Hellfire strolled through. "My lord, what on earth happened to you!" Valve gasped, her insincerity clear to everyone. Hellfire rolled his eyes, "I had a run-in with some poncy water Epic. The bugger shanked me. I have joined up with some American tread-heads to destroy the city, so I need you to portal me to this city a bit north of Astoria, where they are waiting for me. Where is Banger? I need him." Valve nodded, and started opening portals, poking her head through each. Hellfire knew that she was checking every place Banarang-Bamal was likely to be. The fourth portal succeeded, and she widened it so that Banarang could come through. Tall, muscular, dark-skinned and bearing a long, salt-and-pepper beard, Banarang was an imposing figure to most. His bare, callused feet were somehow not burning or being cut apart by the rough surface. The Aborigine lifted his dark, implacable eyes to meet Hellfire's, the fire Epic felt a thrill of fear once more. He had managed to beat Banarang once before, securing dominance over Uluru. But not by much. Banarang was a powerful earth Epic, and turned to a sort of invulnerable stone when attacked. Hellfire had managed to get him high into the air, and threatened to leave him there forever if he didn't swear allegiance to him. Stubborn and proud as his element, Banarang had stayed there for a straight week before acquiescing. Hellfire suppressed his fear and smirked, "Hey Banger, I got a job for you. Ha, bet that isn't something you people hear much." Banarang did not react at all to the casual racism, merely replying, "What do you wish me to do? I was busy making sure that the next shipment of food arrives from Alice Springs-" "Yeah yeah, blah blah blah, listen. You are coming with me, and we are going to destroy a city." The earth Epic's face barely changed, but he betrayed a flicker of excitement at the prospect. More emotion than he usually showed. "I will gladly join you, of course. But how does destroying some American city help us? Have you not secured your revenge against the attackers?" "No you idiot, I did not-" "So you failed?" Hellfire's eyes narrowed, and his voice became terse. "No, I did not fail. Failure would be giving up, and I have no intention of stopping until Astoria is nothing but dust and rubble and ash! Now are you coming or not, you lazy-" "Of course, I will assist you. It is clear that you need the aid." With that, Banarang stepped through the portal that Valve had just opened. Hellfire growled under his breath, muttering racist remarks as he followed the earth Epic back onto American soil.
  15. part of the fun is being in-canon, I think the possibility that all of is could actually have happened. And if Calamity doesn't retcon anything, or much, then there is nothing stopping this from being completely in-canon! Heck, Brandon knows about it and approves MAIlL you are back!
  16. Lady Deathskull watched in thinly veiled excitement as the cheetah-formed Epic ripped out the throat of the other Epic and tossed it into the crowd. "What a show!" She whispered to herself, as she sat in the stands. It was enough to wipe away her annoyance at being awoken so early by some trumped-up Houdini wannabe. Soulcaster was punishing her? The insolence! "No matter," she thought to herself, "soon I shall have my own fight, right after this Supermax and Subway guy, or whatever their names were." She hoped this... hollow fellow she was up against would be a challenge.
  17. well to be fair, Obliteration only ruled Houston. The rest of Texas is still up for grabs And we don't know how many Epics were with him when he blew it up. Considering he was always a bit crazy and antisocial, probably not many. I doubt he cultivated Houston like Steelheart did Newcago, beyond perhaps securing a food supply. Maybe he didn't even do that. And we don't know how long he rule Houston for, or when he took it, or even when he blew it up. The way David talked about him- with no much information being available given his behaviour, and how he thought Oblit would "rule Houston for years like other Epic despots" implies that Oblit didn't hold it for long, and spent the time before and afterwards doing his own lonely thing. the power to control power tools
  18. well things are going to start getting real heated in Astoria, so a mundane murder investigation, if it would even have received attention in normal circumstances, would probably be ignored. But an Epic loyal to the government being assassinated would certainly be an interesting plot development. Would shake things up for the Astoria government, considering they are pretty secure and confident in their power at the moment.
  19. what do you mean by "work in the context of Astoria"? Are you referring to the idea of an interesting writing prompt such as that, or that exact prompt? So say in the RP the start happens, and we know what the end is, and we figure out what happens in between? one of us asked Brandon if Instabam's powers had anything to do with potatoes, and he laughed and said "why not?"
  20. see, I don't really think we need to discount the ratio and completely give up on being canon. What if the reason Oregon seems to have been hit harder is because by pure chance, it got more Epics? Say 10 High Epics from across the FSA, Canada and Mexico, or heck the whole world, that statistically should have manifested elsewhere manifested in Oregon instead? Same with other Epics. Oregon just got very, very unlucky. Or, like you said, some Epics from California went north? Heck, I would. High Epics want to rule, not be subordinate, so I imagine many High Epics (and Epics in general) from more populous states left so they could have their own towns and cities. and also, several Epics and High Epics in this RP have gained their powers recently, not in the first year. I think the 1:10'000 ratio mainly applies to that first year. Realistically, there should be at least another few hundred Epics and at least a few High Epics manifested across the FSA in the years since then. I worry about making this RP canon far too much to be healthy This relative Epics rarity also makes sense given that it was stated early in Steelheart that the government was still in relative control in some areas. Less populous areas like Wyoming only have a few dozen Epics, and maybe no more than a single High Epic. Local human government could exist in some towns/areas far away from wherever the one High Epic decided to claim, at least for a time. And normal Epics of course are theoretically killable by humans, so if they were properly armed they could certainly have the numbers to fend off non-High Epics as long as they did not attack in numbers or have abilities that are too OP.
  21. I don't know about Fassbender either. Steelheart needs to be massive. He needs to be the size of the Rock, with a glare to match.
  22. Meh, his Insta-Kill power was way too OP anyway And he would have gotten shot by the soldiers if Steelheart hadn't have showed up anyway. The fool was acting like a High Epic when he had 0 defensive powers at all! There is no way he could have tapped them all to death before being shot.
