I mean I can change his power so that he cannot make bonds with Epics, and his muscle weakening is not as effective against Epics as it is against humans.

I for one read all the posts, even if I don't reply or join in much.

Good question. I'd say not Nighthound, since his healing would repair any damage done soon. But Deathwish, yeah I think so. No skin damage means that it won't be reflected, either. hmmm doubt it, he hasn't tried. For the sake of irony, it would be interesting if he had been a body-building fitness nut before Calamity, and is now a skeletal creature of skin and bone. rest easy, Voidus knows where it is, and can transfer it to the Fanfics thread when he wants. No need to stop anyone's fun. nah, it might depress him too much

That is true, Brandon stated only more powerful Epics had Rendings. Still, even a Rending a day over a week would be more tragedy and violence in any developed country than its citizens, media and government would be used to. I think until that first year had passed, the chaos was mostly confusion and no-one knowing what was going on. Banks don't stop operating during wartime, nor during most emergencies. Realistically they have no reason to, not if they are in denial about what is happening.

That is true, but preventing bonding from working on Epics prevents it. The bonding is what makes slaves.

Another thing that i was considering is the rate at which Epics appeared. 31'800 Epics across the first year of manifestations divided by 365 works out to be an average of 87 new Epics a day! Wow! Now, I really doubt that it was actually this- it would have started out low and gotten higher and higher numbers per day imo. But still, that means that (assuming an even progression) the first 6 months manifested less Epics thsn that, and the second manifested more. Imagine even 10 Rendings in a single day. The news and country would go berserk. Even 10 mass shootings in a day would be unbelievably tragic and unusual. Imagine the media even trying to keep up. "This just in, a Boston neighbourhood has been destroyed in a massive fire, and police suspect an arsonist is- oh wait, breaking news, an earthquake has just struck Austin! The devastation is immense, the death toll is already estimated in the hundreds, perhaps- oh, this just in! A woman has gone on a shooting spree in New Jersey, details are unclear at the moment but witnesses describe loud bangs and have been unable to identify what weapons she might be using." The chaos would be incredible. Then imagine a hundred, two hundred a day. Crazy.

mostly because i didn't think of it at the time. Will fix In regards to the Epic question, his powers would probably be just as effective against Epics without any defensive physical abilities or enhancements. Maybe a bit weaker and requiring a bit more effort than for normal humans. And maybe no Bonding with Epics.

The Conditioner Primary: Can create and control air conditioners and heaters. A random make, brand and model appears each time. Prime Invincibility: Danger sense linked to teleportation. Swaps position with the nearest air conditioner or heater just prior to taking damage. Has given rise to the belief by many that they have killed him and he turned into an air conditioner upon death.

Nice think that i will keep him as-is.

I actually wouldn't mind having Atrophy, if that's ok? Sounds like a fun power to play with. His power is basically just weakening any muscle he likes, yeah? His own or others? Wonder where he would fit in though...
-
Well that was a tone shift from previous diaries Atrophy actually has a very good power. Like a weak Bioterror. Your epics are getting more and more useful and less pointless Voidus, are you losing your touch?
-
Where did the name Lightwards come from, btw? I can't figure out if it is referencing/a pun on something. It seems like a very random made-up name, not even a noun-verb or adjective or noun-noun combination like most Epic names. Not that that is bad or anything, but it perplexes me

I expected a chubbier face

I am tempted to read the chapters, but I promised myself no spoilers! I will enjoy the full thing when it comes out! if I can resist....

hahahaha Although the Jedi does have a legitimate and very useful power. Not necessarily a versatile one but useful nonetheless. It would be an interesting power especially as a secondary to an Epic with other abilities, who uses them all to be a spy/assassin.

actually the protagonist is someone named Scott, who is Ant-Man after Hank Pym, who was the spousal abuse guy. I suspect they will delve into this at some point to complicate the mentor/mentee relationship.

Firefight spoilers:

Sounds good for me. Iconoclast will begin being evil immediately!
-
what an interesting idea. annoying for the Epic though.

yeah that is a good point as well. She would still be confused and scared that her powers didn't work on him, which would still compel her to get rid of him somehow, but i don't think she would use terminology like "weakness" or even "rending" yet. David did know about Rendings, he was the one who told us about them in Firefight. Although I don't think that the concept of a Rending would be well-known yet. In that first year of Epics transforming, how do you distinguish between what we know as a Rending and any other Epic massacre? Epics did a lot of indiscriminate massacres. For all people knew, Epics were all crazy killing machines. People probably wouldn't have connected Rendings with Epics even manifesting, they might think the Epic manifested earlier and the Rending was just their first open display of power. It wasn't until things settled down (relatively) that the uncontrolled and dream-like nature of Rendings would have become common knowledge, imo.

I really liked the post Coma just the weakness thing mainly is a tiny issue
-
Sad to see you go, Kipper. My Epics in Harry Potter houses? Deathskull: she would be a Slytherin. She values her own community of servants and will fiercely protect them. Hellfire: really not sure.... Iconoclast: I think maybe a Gryffindor. He has a strict sense of right and wrong and is insanely brave and reckless even considering his regeneration.
-
hahahaha XD these Metronome jokes are.... timeless
-
I'll get Iconoclast's dream and awakening sequence up once this end of day thing is all sorted out Does anyone mind if he is the first post of the day? Would anyone like to go first? The placement of his post isn't important Like Edgedancer, I can tell you Hellfire: Would have no idea who he is and mutter about crazy Americans coming at him with swords. Deathskull: Would metalbend the sword away and sneer until he melts her armour around her and she receives an ironic demise Iconoclast: Would smile evilly and try to attack him until he gets incinerated. Ideally, he would regenerate a wiser and more cautious villain, but likely not yeah, once she realises her powers don't work on him it shouldn't be too hard to figure out. yes, but in addition to what Twilight said, the actual weakness is often a symbol connected to the trauma in some way. For instance, Newton's weakness is compliments, but her nightmares would not have consisted solely of people complimenting her. Steelheart's was people who don't fear him, but he wouldn't have just dreamt of a guy being casually unafraid- he would have relived the trauma or incident that caused him to be scared of not being feared (imo). So the connection is there, and it is one that many Epics would be able to make, but not all.
