Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Paranoid King replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Violent Oops, I checked the cheat sheet before you posted. Someone tried to guess my code twice, but they didn't have any aviar either time. When I did try to guess, I got it wrong, and didn't try to guess anything in the future. I liked the code aspect of this game. It gave it a new spin. Does anyone have a guess as to mine? (It was really easy to implement, and I've used it in this post.)- 493 replies

He can make up to 100 minions and 10 henchmen. The minions are suicidally obedient to him, while the henchmen obey the spirit of his commands while acting to preserve themselves or carry out his commands more effectively. The copies do not retain the personality or intelligence of the originals, although they do retain proficiency at their held weapon. The minions can only remember up to 5 words, so when commanding them, he's limited in effectiveness. The Henchmen can remember much more detailed commands, and as such, appear to be more intelligent.

Well played, traders. And curses, I was right on my first impression of Kynedath. At least I never protected him or anything, despite saying I would.- 493 replies

So earlier I brought up a planned epic, Cannon Fodder, (can create henchmen and minions,) and he was rejected for being too much like mitosis. Could he be accepted by having him create copies of random armed people instead? (If they're carrying a weapon, they can have a copy made of them and anything else below a certain size they're touching. Closer people are more likely to be selected.) Then he wouldn't have a cloning power, but would still have the same functionality. Edit: and no, copies of epics wouldn't retain their powers.

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Paranoid King replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Bah, humbug. I keep on thinking people are suspicious and then they're good. I don't think I can trust my suspicions anymore. But at the same time, I fell like the thread is slowly and inevitably being steered towards Silver. And I don't want to go along with what the eliminators want to do. So I'm voting for Clanky, as I have no read on him and am thus unbiased by my suspicions. lopen, if clanky's good, I'm checking you next. May the eliminators not violently murder us all. In violent ways... Edit: fixed auto check. I don't think the word, "gerbilvlatz" is in websters.- 493 replies

Nope. If I recall correctly, my ability was gone by cycle 3. I'm not on at the end of the cycle, so I didn't know when using it would be helpful.- 493 replies

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Paranoid King replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I can confirm that I was influential. I have now used both uses and have no more power left. I tried to guess someone's code and lost my death sight aviar, but I still have a beautiful Aviar. I think Kynedath is good. I imagine eliminators would try to suppress that knowledge, rather than share it. I think Lopen is evil, because Lopen is just that kind of guy.- 493 replies

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Paranoid King replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Adavantos, you explained how your aviar were stolen, despite your caution. You had used your code word twice in only one cycle, and that shows someone was engaged enough to get your aviar. I think that person's more likely to be evil, because you're more willing to guess codes when you have a team to back you up. On that team, you need people dedicated enough to check through huge posts and possibly RP to find a code. Mailliw, Lopen, Clanky, and Adavantos are my suggestions for suspects. my code has nothing to do with anger, violence, or warfare. Now, I'm no eliminator, but I imagine that the first thing eliminators would do in the early cycles is to transfer aviar around, telling each other their codes so that those without aviar could guess codes without repercussions. In one of the first cycles, Mailliw was grumbling about someone stealing his Aviar. Mailliw checks true for both those pieces of evidence, but then again, so does Adavantos. I suggest we lynch Mailliw first, and if he's good, we lynch Adavantos. Hellscythe- 493 replies

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Paranoid King replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Looking back at Lopen's plan, I'm inclined to be less critical of it. Now that I see it's directing the violence of the eliminators, rather than painting a clear target of who to attack, it seems like a sound strategy. If the eliminators go for the obvious targets, they give us info. If they risk one of the protected targets, we get more info.- 493 replies

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Paranoid King replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm gonna come out with my suspicions and say that I'm suspicious of Adavantos, Lopen, and Hellscythe. Adavantos has been fairly unhelpful to the village, which is very unlike his normal strategy of taking charge. Hellscythe has been suspicious since the first few cycles, as I get the feeling that they're trying to misdirect the village. Lopen got me suspicious with his post last cycle, which both advocated for my other suspicions and told the villagers what to do. If the villagers target who he tells them to, the eliminators have their choice of who to attack without repercussions.- 493 replies

I intentionally tried to make this epic's power different from that of mitosis. Mitosis My epic can create clones, but those clones don't have his powers, can't think independently or originally, and don't transmit experiences as a hive mind. They're more like robots than clones.

Alright, let's confirm some players. I'd rather check water than polking, because if water is guilty, that means polking is too. (After all, what kind of eliminator would try to prove that an innocent is innocent?) If water is innocent, that means polking probably is as well. And water seems to have been acting more suspicious.- 493 replies

I'm planning on him having an underground base somewhere in the region. I don't know exactly how the limited numbers of portals would affect Falchion's ability to help. I imagine that having two or three portals to the base allowing people to teleport in or out unobtrusively wouldn't limit Falchion's combat abilities at all.

Okay. Poof, powers have been modified. No more mooks. Well, I'm planning on teaming up with a portal epic. So, hopefully that won't be much of a problem.

Should I expand his disguise abilities? Maybe give him the ability to change his hair color or face structure? And by "area", I mean an area the size of downtown. For people to see the same guy five times, they'd have to wander over half the city.

They can write to communicate. "Spy downtown" would tell the minion to mingle with the crown downtown. When a major event occurs, the minion takes note, returns, and writes what they saw. Although I suppose that might be a bit complicated. It would probably be better if he could just touch them to absorb anything they have seen or heard. He disguises himself, makes a minion, changes his disguise, makes another minion. The minions are different enough, and spread out enough (at most, you'll likely have only 5 minions in an area) that it would be hard to tell that they all look like the same guy. If he wants a spy that looks like a cripple, he disguises himself to have no right leg, makes a minion, and reverts back to his original appearance. The weakness is actually really easy to find/implement. If you get to him and tie him up, he's unable to make any more minions. That he loses his connection to his minions indicates that the minions are separate entities, not clones of himself. Hmm... Would it work better if I had him unobtrusively come in and set up a base? Because I was planning the initial intro to be a rebuttal of reckoners trying to invade his base.

So here's an epic idea I came up with: Name: Cannon Fodder Description: Original form is 4'10", bald on the top of the head, black hair on the sides, wears black cape. About 40 years old. (looks somewhat like Vizzini) Epic power 1: Ability to create minions by duplicating himself. He can continue to walk forward while an image of him and any gear he is carrying stays where he used to be. After he is completely clear of the image, it solidifies, and he can issue it a command which consists of up to five words (verb, noun, adjective, time) For example, he could tell it, "follow me silently 3 hours", which would make the minion follow him for 3 hours, while trying to remain quiet. His minions cannot be separated from the gear they were carrying when they were created. His minions cannot speak, use little to no original thought, and are completely obedient. When any blood leaves their body, they go "poof", and turn into a small puff of smoke. He can have up to 100 minions at one time. Epic Power 2: Ability to create henchmen by duplicating himself. He creates these in much the same way as the minions, but before creating one, he must remain still for 30 minutes. After creating one, he can issue it more detailed commands than he can to minions. Henchmen can speak, and are obedient, but free-willed to an extent that allows them to carry out orders more effectively. Henchmen have none of Cannon Fodder's powers. He can have up to 10 henchmen at one time, but usually has less. Secondary power: Limited disguise. He can change his height by up to one inch, his hair any color of grayscale, and can give himself defects, but cannot change his eye color, skin color, or physical ability. Henchmen and minions he creates using this power retain those physical differences. Personal strengths: He's a good planner, he's patient, and he tends to stay focused on his goals. He keeps a realistic assessment of his vulnerabilities. Personal weaknesses: Paranoid, overly fond of traps, single-minded. No prime invincibility. Epic Weakness: I've got one At one point I was thinking of making him scared of sock puppets, but the backstory seemed weak. He has a much better weakness now. When exposed to his weakness, all henchmen and minions act as though they have been issued no commands, and can be issued no further commands. He reverts to his original appearance. Backstory: Grew up in Oregon interned to an engineer. He was smart, but his ideas were often ignored. He continued to work in an engineering department, and often grew resentful of how his talent was wasted. When he became an epic, he had his clones storm the building and destroy it. He then laid traps and ambushes for his supervisors that were not in the building, but kept a low profile after his initial attack, planning how to become one of the most famous epics. His minions constantly spy on the populace, keeping him updated on recent events.

Sorry for my inactivity, folks. I'm recovering from sickness and have been sleeping a lot. I'm feeling suspicious of hellscythe. I don't have any concrete reasons, but I feel like hellscythe has been acting in a strange manner. (And not just because of code words making posts sound awkward.)- 493 replies

Would smoke block his vision? Fog? Light mist? Air? Because if he can see the moon, he should be able to make a portal there. I'd suggest restricting his range to 1,000 miles. He can still do his cool portal stuff without reaching to the moon or sun. It kinda limits his powers to the earth scale, rather than the cosmic scale.

Mid-range Game 11: Paradise Lost
Paranoid King replied to twelfthrootoftwo's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm not exactly the "mayor" type. I misread rules, I'm asleep for 5 hours before the turnover, and I'm not all that active of a player. I can easily see the GM's setting up a person that more than one Sori knows is good. Finding that two sori's chose the same person is no less strange that having a sori and an eliminator choose the same person. So I don't see what additional evidence against Kynedath you would have. And sure, Stink posted in thread, while Kynedath didn't. Looking at his posts, he seems to be rather suicidal recently. Kynedath looks like he's not trying to draw attention to himself. An eliminator might want to do that, sure, but so would a villager, as that would make them a target. I'm not seeing that Kynedath is a greater eliminator suspect than anyone else.- 493 replies
