Quick Fix Game 24: Eliminating Elysium
Paranoid King replied to Sart's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well, they're not going to target themselves. So whoever you target actually has a 1 in 16 chance of defending against you. Except they're not going to guard against inactive players, which lowers it to something like 1 in 14. So that's a pretty decent chance of being killed. (And that's at the beginning of the game. As it goes on, it'll get worse.)- 433 replies

Quick Fix Game 24: Eliminating Elysium
Paranoid King replied to Sart's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Here's how I see it: The villagers need info. The elims need kills. Cytonics stop info, but also stop kills. An elim will never target another elim with cytonics. So if an elim uses cytonics, it just blocks the villager's info, and never stops the elim's kills. It is in their best interest to use cytonics at every opportunity. So the elims will use cytonics as much as possible. If the villagers use cytonics too, the villagers get no info and the elims get no kills. If, on the other hand, the villagers don't use cytonics, their info is limited, but the elim kill is unrestricted. The best strategy for both groups is to use cytonics as much as possible. True, that. Hit 'em while you're not suspected.- 433 replies

Quick Fix Game 24: Eliminating Elysium
Paranoid King replied to Sart's topic in Sanderson Elimination
DR-0ID stared stoically at everyone in the small room. Or facility, or whatever. Most of them were just standing around. He decided to join them. ... ... ... Inactive for 30 minutes. Entering sleep mode. He quickly wiggled his arm. He was going to do something in a moment, anyways. Aaaany second now. ... Inactive for - "Yeah, yeah. I get it." ... "Say, do the airlocks still work while this place is in lockdown mode? Because if not, this place is going to stink in a few days. Because of the bodies." ... "I mean, it won't bother me, because I can just shut that off, but you guys might have problems." ... "Can you shut off your senses with cytonics? Because that would make it easy..." ... "For how many people are in here, it's really quiet. ... ... "Oops, I had my audio muted. Sorry about that." --- The two things cytonics kill are role-based actions and the elim kill. Role based actions aren't that useful anyways, so if the village loses them, it won't be a huge loss If everyone guards with cytonics, suddenly the Elim kill is super risky. If everybody guards, the only thing that's lost is the elim kill. Villagers won't be killed by cytonics because everyone's using cytonics. And we won't kill off all our good roles because nobody is using their good roles against a cytonic user. The only people who will be tempted to do so are the aliens, and they'll mostly target inactives if they do. Which is helpful for the village anyways.- 433 replies

Quick Fix Game 24: Eliminating Elysium
Paranoid King replied to Sart's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Goodness me, aliens have infiltrated. Let's see: If all aliens die, everyone's happy. Net happiness: 1 If all humans die, aliens fire the missiles and kill all the rest of the humans. Net happiness: -7,000,000,012 or so. If all aliens and humans die, the station's ruined. Net happiness: -50 Therefore, it is in our best interest to launch the missiles... AT THE STATION ITSELF! I think we're all agreed on this? Okay... What? The missiles have an oddly specific security mechanism that requires all members currently in the room to be of the same species? CURSE YOU, POLITICS! --- Anyways, now we've got that line of reasoning out of the way, it's time to talk about cytonics So if you target someone with cytonics, and they target you with a non-cytonic action, they die. This seems like it would be really useful for the village, but it's not, and here's why: Elims can kill someone every night. Since most people will be using cytonics, it's in their best interest to have their only non-cytonic actions be the group kill. They don't want to die, plus using cytonics might kill someone. So other than the person placing the kill, elims won't be caught out by cytonic defense. (Probably. Now I've said this, the elims might go either way.) Here's the other actions that can be caught by the cytonic kill: Firebrand (1 secret vote, usually not that bad) UIB agent (detects role) PC operator kill (Confirmed village) So using cytonics every cycle might not be as good an idea as it seems. Now, there's a bit of back-and-forth about that, because what I said above might make the elims more lenient about non-cytonic actions. It's an I Know You Know thing now. But TLDR, if you're suspicious of someone, use cytonics on them. If you're not, don't stress out about wasting an action. It's okay if you don't use cytonics, because it might do more harm than good. Elims (Probably) will use cytonics as much as possible since there's no chance of hitting their own side. EDIT: Now I think about it, a better strategy is just to use cytonics as much as possible, and never use the role actions. It stops the elims from using their kill as much (And if they do use it, they'll target inactives, which is good for us anyways. Ignore everything I wrote above, I guess. I was just writing things down as I thought them.)- 433 replies

BWAHAHA! L35 miserables! I'd completely forgotten about it! Signing up as Carcer, completely innocent of anything you think he might have done. He's very friendly, except for when he's not, and he disagrees with the statement that you can't take the law into your own hands. He's a dab hand with a knife, and you should never trust him around a bottle of ginger beer. Oh, and he's "all for" the rebellion.

Mid-Range Game 22: My Little Perfidy
Paranoid King replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Great game! I feel like that worked out pretty well. BB denied everything until the end. I think I'll have to nominate Brightness Radiant, for not only talking about colors, but drawing a picture of her drawing a picture. Although if the prize is a picture of their pony, maybe I should choose someone less talented.- 628 replies

Mid-Range Game 22: My Little Perfidy
Paranoid King replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Ponyville: If you looked up this town in Ponies Everywhere, the summary would read thus: Ponyville is a small town a short train ride from Canterlot. It is well connected, with a friendly atmosphere. It boasts a bakery, a sizable apple orchard, and an alicorn princess' castle. Despite its lack of large-scale production, this is a pleasant, peaceful place to spend a vacation. Today, the entry was completely wrong. "After him!" Bellowed moneybags, galloping after Razor Shard. "I'm telling you, Mac's the one you want!" "Then why are you running?" "So I can BRING HIM TO JUSTICE!" Razor Shard galloped around a corner, hiding behind a small wall. The rest of the ponies charged past blindly, proving the old saying about a crowd's IQ. "Where is he?" "He's a changeling, isn't he?" "He must be disguising as one of us!" "There's only one way to make sure... Moneybags truth pellets! Guaranteed 100% ineffective." "Are you kidding me? Is this really the time?" "They're 50% off..." "Fine. I'll take 2 dozen, to go." "Here they ACK ARGH WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" "Ha! Got you this time! Are you a changeling, or aren't you?" "I WAS GIVEN A SEAL OF APPROVAL BY IRONPIES HIMSELF!" Razor Shard grimaced, then sheathed his sword. This lot wouldn't be helping any. Time to make his move. "There he is! GET HIM!" The mass of ponies galloped after the bunny he had thrown out as a distraction. Meanwhile, he slipped off in the other direction. It was time to find Defecate Mac. I went into the crockery fairly early on. I figured it would take me a while to escape, so I made a doc for myself to keep myself active. And then I escaped first round. So there's not much in it, but here's my ramblings. Aww. We'll miss you regardless. Hopefully you'll come back eventually.

Did you not have any boots on hand? Because if so, you really don't need to take the time to buy new ones. Although if you're headed that way anyways, I want a pair too.

Vote tally! BB (3): Alvron, PK, Jedal Jedal (2): BR, Seonid So if BB sticks his vote on Jedal, we'll be tied, in which case nobody will be killed. I don't think we can afford that with only 2 elements left. Alright. BB. Jedal. So... BB (2): Alvron, Jedal Jedal (3): BR, Seonid, PK- 628 replies

Yep. Nothing personal, BB, but you're a changeling. Those overly large eyes, odd skin tone, and exaggerated personality gave you away. --- This is a song about money. not relevant, it's just RP. But if you tend to think it's funny, It counts for my cosmetic role, you see.- 628 replies

Mid-Range Game 22: My Little Perfidy
Paranoid King replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Honestly, I have no idea how voting on him was an accident. He said Flash was guilty, and lo and behold, he was. Next cycle, he revealed that he was honesty and gave the names of some cleared players. After this, you said that he never said that he held honesty before, and that "knowing" flash was guilty was a fluke. You trusted the two other confirmed villagers, but not enough to believe them when they thought HH was innocent. You said that had he revealed that he had honesty before, you might have trusted him, but his reveal was too late by then. Really? You wanted the holder of honesty to reveal themselves in thread after our protection role had been kidnapped? That just doesn't seem wise. BB. --- Moneybags stared gloomily at his empty money bags. They were empty. And redundant. Ponyvillage was a terrible, terrible place to try and make money. At the rate things were going, he would have to dip into his reserve money bags. But at least he'd made some friends. No wait, never mind. He hadn't actually made any friends. But he'd attended some birthday parties and made some acquaintances, so that was something.- 628 replies

I haven't been paying much attention, but it looks like the leading votes are on Ec, HH, and Jedal. Knowing how much elims love bandwagons, I'm going to vote on someone entirely different. Cancel that. HH says I'm a villager, and I've got to repay the favor. Sorry Jedal, but I think HH needs to survive a bit longer- 628 replies

Hah. That's a WGG if I've ever seen one. After all, one of the people in the University is evil, and it's clearly not that other guy. Wait a minute! I just checked the player list, and it says Steph's dead! And it tells her alignment! My goodness! Looks like her WGG didn't work after all! She accidentally sabotaged herself so hard that she killed herself! Gosh!

I'd like to remind @Seonid that the person he passed Generosity to can't reveal that Seonid passed it to him yet. The entire point is that you know who you passed it to. If they reveal first, you're not cleared as a villager. I'll put my money on Quiver. Could he find it hard to keep up because he's spending time in an Elim doc?- 628 replies
