I sigh, since trying to pump this guy for information is like squeezing water from a sheet of metal. I need information. Without information, I'm just another person - sure I've got some extra capabilities, but information dictates how I use them. Maybe Eerongal or Ambro know something I don't. I'll leave this up to them. I turn to my compatriots, and note that the mysterious 'Adolin' is still with us. Better not give too much away. "My Lord, I am with you on this quest because you hired me. I leave the decision of our actions up to you and your companion." Ah misdirection, my old friend.

"Woah. Hold on. I have questions. Most important of which is who the heck are you? You drop from the sky and expect us to follow your every whim. I'm not having that." Other questions include how the heck are we getting there, why should i participate in this 'tournament', what will I be up against, what rewards are there, will i have to fight my companions, who the heck is this 'Adolin' guy, and HOW DID YOU DROP FROM THE SKY? I take a defensive stance in case this mysterious man wants to beat me for questioning him. This guy and Pa seem to have a lot in common. I dealt with Pa for twenty-six years, I can deal with this arrogant Morph.

I follow Eerongal mutely, still slightly shocked. That was unexpected. And just looking at this guy's armor I don't think I could touch him, even with this Amalgam. And what the deuce? I hadn't even done anything yet.... I was just prepared to... ok, maybe I am being hasty. But I'd rather be hasty than dead. I wonder how he dropped out of nowhere like that? It must have something to do with that armor. Is he a Spheremorph? Seems likely. He wants us to follow him, fine, but I'm still wary of this 'Adolin' character. He said we're in the 'benefactor's domain.' When did that happen and what are the bounds? I hope we don't stay here - anyone trying to control what I do bugs me. 'Adolin' is behind me... I've still got my gun out. I'm ready. Whew. Ok. I'm good.

Regarding the latest post in Story: Why, hello there plot device, how are you? I was wondering when you would show up.

Since I now apparently have a lot of free time, I'm working hard on the map as well as putting together Jay'el Jay'ournal (I know it's really bad, I like to have fun with my titles). What kinda of dating system do the people of Nexus use, month/day/year wise? I'm assuming right now that it's fairly similar to earth (7 days a week, 4 weeks a month, 3 months a season, 4 seasons a year), but I'm not sure that's right. What would the months be called, and where would the "zero-point" be? Like how ours originated on the longest night of the year, i guess. are there any special days during the year that we should be aware of? What is the current year, and when/why is the zero-point for that? I'm probably making you do too much world building, but I'm really getting into this. I also think it's important that Nexus is actually a world, and not just a giant sandbox for us to make forts in.

I really can't tell if I'm hoping for a fight between the team of Eerongal, Ambrosius and Jay'el and River right now. I think it would be an interesting way to explore our various abilities (especially those of my shiny new Amalgam From), but I don't want us all to end up hating each other.

Adolin... that sounds... "Careful, my Lord. Adolin is the name of a character from a children's story." Fishmonger brat I may be, but Ma never skipped out on story time. I can't count the number of times I've heard tales from The Good King's Handbook. That brings back memories. "If I recall correctly, the character was also a master duelist." I don't do duels. If this guy tries anything, he goes down hard. I've got plenty of health stored up if he somehow manages to survive all three of us at once. I prepare to make a Precise Throw at 'Adolin's neck, keeping the more dangerous-looking gun I'm holding pointed carefully at the ground. I'll only throw if he moves any closer to us.

At the same volume as Ambro, I say, "Always." I like this impromptu plan we've come up with. Seems straightforward. Eero is a Lord, and we're some sort of servant to him. I'm going with me as body guard, since I've got the guns. And Ambro as manservant, i guess? I step off the boat before Eero, shielding him with my body. "Be careful, my Lord. We don't know if this is a trap." I look up at the hill, no longer seeing the figure, but there is a slight glow around the edges of the cross. Looking back at my companions, I whisper, "Spheremorph."
-
Oh good, we're almost there. Maybe I'll get the chance to try out this Fused Form. Looking up the hill, I note the figure reaching towards the gemstone embedded in the cross, with his back towards us. Probably not our benefactor. He seems more like the mysterious type. Seeing Ambrosius being sneaky in his shift to Geass, I casually grab a seat out of sight of the figure and shift into Shaman, and then quickly into Gunner, triggering my Fuser and morphing into Primal Gunner, the Amalgam Form. Well, this looks like fun. Can't wait to try it out. I draw one of my pistols in my left hand and a dagger in my right, and turn to Eerongal. "You may want to get your game face on, Eero. We don't know if that guy is hostile or not." And it's really hard to be over-prepared.

I tried to make sense of all that, and I think my brain seeped out my ear a little. Welcome, sortitus, and may you and your Nevada make the rest of us confused for a very long time.

<lets out a string of expletives. They had to be deleted.> You mean I can't curse out everyone? Oh noes, what am I going to do? Hey, Silus, you can totally skip the smithing scene if you like. I'm just curious about stuff, it doesn't have to happen on screen. A PM or some such of the scene, once you've got an idea of how you want it to happen, would be fine. Eventually I'll post something I'm tentatively calling "Jay'el's Notebook," his series of observations on the world, monsters, and especially Spheremorph-related items. Think of it as Navani's notebook for Nexus, in-world creation and all. Comatose, that looks... like I want to play a Bender. I just was never quite sure how to handle it. Though now I'm wondering if i should have JL be a bit more moral to compensate for the two amoral characters we have.... <wanders off, muttering to himself about maps, perspective, and morality>

I'm sewing a teddy bear for my girlfriend. It's simple but time consuming. On the other hand, if we're just going with crafts I'm not a terrible wood and metal worker... Built like half the furniture for my parents house.

I'm now seeing an ad for godaddy web hosting instead of his site... what's going on?

Quick theory on the emphasized point. It's possible that once people started moving Breath, which is part of Endowment, around, Endowment wanted some way to collect it back to herself. Normally this would be done through death, but if people are giving away their Breaths before they die then those Breaths are, in effect, taken out of circulation. Hence why Returned need a Breath every week - it goes back to Endowment, who can then dole it back out. Of course, for this to be true you have to assume that Endowment can only give out so many Breaths at one time. I'm not sure even i believe that. It also does not explain why Vo was Returned in the first place, assuming that he is the origin of Awakening as an art. In a related but different vein, it is possible that Nalthis existed before Endowment showed up, and that there was life on it. However, if that life was not sentient then it is possible that Endowment did something to make it so and over the ages that life evolved into something like humans. Crazy theory there, but that's kinda what we do.

from the same people that make LFG, here's its older sibling called Least I Could Do, or LICD for short. Just a warning, sometimes it gets a little raunchy. It comments on basically everything, rather than just tropes of fantasy.

Talk about the process for attaching a Fuser to a Grid, i guess? What hooks up where, how it's held in place, maybe a little demo over how to use one... I don't know, I'm just really interested in figuring out how the magic system works. It's why I've Jay'el as a really curious and smart guy - he wants to know about this just as much as I do, and he's smart enough to make some inductions and deductions about how it all works. Basically he's trying to be the theorymaster of Spheremorphing. My hopes for him involve being able to switch between forms without pause, being able to Fuse every Form.... Basically, I want him to be godlike but not unkillable - if you catch him by surprise, and do it quick, he's gone. But if he has time to think about whatever situation he goes into, and how to react, he will dominate the battlefield. knowledge is his main weapon.

as for the atium issue, I think it would be fair if we gave the Mistborn maybe a five second burn per match. Not much of an advantage, but plenty to turn the tide.
-
"Sorry about the rush earlier. I did not know if my companions would be leaving without me." "I would absolutely love to get this Fuser attached to my Grid. I'm in no rush, assuming we can be done by nightfall. Can I take notes?" FINALLY! I learn something more about how this tech works. I wonder how I can reverse engineer this....
-
"I'll be done by nightfall, easy." I just hope Tohu wasn't terribly offended by the way I left. Fusing... "i'll meet you and Ambro at the docks when I'm done. If you need me, I'll be at Tohu's Spheresmithy." I go back to Tohu's shop, hoping he's still willing to attach the Fuser to my Grid.
